Lots of talk on bra size today. So where should I go to get measured?

I think I'm at least a D cup, but I'm paranoid that I've got it horribly wrong for years and years and years.

So where is the best place to get measured regardless of your size (I understand that Brassimo only sell bras of D cup onwards).

M&S are crap in my experience - and other posters have confirmed that I'm not being fussy - so where's the best place?

just looked at store guides for both and there are more for Bravissimo over most of UK.
Rigby & Pellar only have stores in London by the looks of it, please correct me if im wrong. Im sure someone will.

I went to M&S. I was really please with the fitting. I spent £100 on 5 new bras and then lost 1 stone and 3 of them don't fit me.

La Senza do this - when DD got bigger she automatically started buying the 34 instead of 32, but was uncomfortable - I persuaded her to get measured & she discovered she was 32D, not 34C & was immediately much more comfortable.

hi.
I used to work for Rigby and Peller. if you cant get there, and not many can, I would say go for Fantasie bras, Freya,(in Debenhams) Prima donna u can get online.

It was am amazing place to work, truly crazy that so many of us havent aclue what size we are. Fitting in other shops, well i have heard of some places actaully measuring over people's bras and even clothes. Yes some bras are gonna be different sizes in different brands but I would say this.

Buy the smallest back size you feel comfortable in. When this is established ie the number bit, 32,34, only then put that number with a cup size.

If you havent got the bit right around your body you cannot work out the cup. Many many women find they are wearing a bra far to loose round the back/ribs, and end up with it up round their ears, and there fore no support in the cup.

If you have big boobs, say d onwards, and a small back, try and find a bra with thicker straps. Also unles you have smaller boobs, stay away from stretchy material around the band, and on the cups cos it starts to give too easily.

x

HI,
I dont live in london anymore, but get Fantasie bras for between 25-30 quid in Debenhams.
Most R + P bras, whether made by them or sold in their shop, ie well constructed, good bras cost about £50-£60.

It is alot of dosh, yet I still have bras from them that are 3 yrs old and are great. If you start to collect 2 or 3 bras, and alternate them, you can get good wear out of them.
Noone blinks at spending a fair wack on a pair of jeans or shoes, and i really feel that a good bra is money well spent. It can make all the difference.
Hmm, perhaps I should open up a boutique!

pirategirl · 05/02/2007 18:07

Also meant to say, that altho M+ S used to be swear words at R+P! Since then, their ranges of size have got better, as with the majority of manufacturers. Ie you never used to be able to get a d cup in a 32!
So try them. I admit to having one M+S bra. I am not sure what their fitters are like tho. If you actually measure around under your bust, round your chest this will give you a good indication of your size in inches.
At R+ P, yes they get so used to it they can just lok at your back, yet so many women came in in bras that were too big around the back.

R'n'P rock. My norks have never looked backward.

£50 - £60 quid - might have to wait for my birthday or something. Thanks PG
