What do you recommend for simple face cleaning for 14 year old with great skin....?

I'm feeling hopelessly ignorant... I cleansed, toned and moisturised at this age..and was spot free until my 40s!

DD has inherited my skin - lucky girl! - but I want to help her keep in great shape. She's got into a bad habit of just using Simple wipes to take off makeup, and nowt on other days....

What do your DD do? Use a cleanser (what's good?) and then just warm flannel to clean off? Or....?

Thanks!

I had terrible skin as a teen and it's not great mow, but honestly think the more I do to it the worse it gets.

I just wash with a flannel and warm water, using aqueous cream as "soap" and my skins better than it's ever been. Feels really clean without being tight. Cheap too

botemp · 30/08/2016 15:10

I had good skin as a teen too, I used the Weleda sensitive almond line cleanser and moisturiser, often didn't need the moisturiser only used it when feeling a bit dry. Still like the cleanser these days, v. gentle and cleanses well without drying out. When I was having a lazy teen moment I'd just pop it on a cotton pad and wipe my face but it's better to do the whole rinse off with a flannel procedure.

Would look into getting her a proper oil based cleanser to use with flannel for makeup days rather than wipes though. Maybe the Body Shop Chamomile Butter?

Onlytimewilltell · 30/08/2016 18:24

Why don't you just buy her more from the Simple range if she already uses the wipes?
I have used their stuff for years and have really good skin.
My 12 year old also uses that range - they do everything you need, I bought my dd the ordinary face wash and one especially for spots for the odd teen outbreak.
She likes their spf moisturiser although I find that one stings a little bit on me and just use their normal moisturiser.

MadisonMontgomery · 30/08/2016 18:26

Cetaphil? It's just a nice mild cleanser, I use it on my dry, sensitive skin & it's very gentle.

VilootShesCute · 30/08/2016 18:27

I use a konjac sponge with simple cleanser (the brand simple) and then for teens there is a really good range called oy! which is great ☺

RaspberryBeret34 · 30/08/2016 18:30

I'm using this at the moment and really liking it:
www.simpleskincare.com/our-products/product/hydrating-cleansing-oil.html

It's very light and doesn't leave any oily residue. You can either wash off with water or use a cloth/sponge etc.

BertrandRussell · 30/08/2016 18:31

Well if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Good skin is genetic.

Flisspaps · 30/08/2016 18:37

If she's got good skin, and she's using the wipes then why change it? It could give her a reaction or just feel like more faff than she's willing to bother with anyway.

My skin is horrendous, but there's very little ice tried that's made a difference.

Blueberryblueberry · 30/08/2016 18:48

Same as openme, I have fairly crap skin but the more I do to it the worse it gets. Unless she's really plastering the makeup on I'd second aqueous cream as a cleanser and face wash. This does me and I do wear make up everyday (foundation powder mascara etc)

Blueberryblueberry · 30/08/2016 18:50

Just to add I'm in my 30s but remember messing around with loads of products in my teens and it totally made things worse. (I also need to remember my own advice when I'm reading about various products on s&b!) Blush

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2016 18:52

She had nice skin and what she uses didn't irritate- don't change a thing and continue what she's doing!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2016 18:52

**has

Balletgirlmum · 30/08/2016 18:52

Dd has good skin too

She uses the superdrug hot cloth cleanser to remove make up & then a non oil based moisturiser as her skin can get a bit dry on the cheeks but a tiny bit greasy around her nose. At the moment she uses simple or Nivea moisturiser but she covets the Bobbi Brown one.
She also uses a simple face wash as she sometimes reacts to soap & it dries her skin out

LippyLiz · 30/08/2016 18:54

DD (13) uses johnsons make up removal wipes and when she's being good she uses Dermologica Age Smart face wash

deltacrook · 30/08/2016 19:00

Liz Earle.

OpenMe · 30/08/2016 19:08

Everyone else here seems to think Liz Earle is fantastic and I bought it for that reason. It was the worst thing I ever did to my skin. Bought me out in big painful lumps

eyebrowsonfleek · 30/08/2016 19:13

My teens use La Roche Posay cleanser. It's pricier than stuff targeted at teens but when they use it consistently, there's a big improvement.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2016 19:15

Best thing I ever did was so using Liz Earle, it used to be ok before they changed the formula, it's so harsh now.

loveyouradvice · 30/08/2016 20:56

I so adore the expertise on here... thank you all for such great advice... going to investigate and take a look at these (especially since bottles that look good on a teen shelf are as important as what they're like to use!) - Fun! I'm keen she moves away from wipes as they really aren't great for everyday, more a lazy day option....

I have pretty well behaved skin these days.

On lazy days I use the Simple wipes. The rest of the time I use Garnier Micellar water to take off my eye make up and then Cetaphil cleanser as recommended by PPs.

cashmerecardigans · 31/08/2016 07:01

Body shop camomile cleansing butter is really lovely

suze28 · 31/08/2016 07:13

I second the advice about using the Body Shop camomile butter. It's lovely stuff as a first cleanse.
Our daughters are 14 and 12 and both use the Superdrug radiance hot cloth cleanser which is very similar to the Liz Earle cleanser.
Wipes really don't cleanse the skin very well.

JustGettingStarted · 31/08/2016 07:53

Sunscreen. That's all she needs to really worry about.

specialsubject · 31/08/2016 10:06

Apart from sunscreen as mentioned, nothing else. It is all lies - beauty products do nothing for skin.

ElornaElephant · 31/08/2016 10:13

Garnier Micellar water is really good, I use it as a make-up remover and a sort of toner after I cleanse too. I love the Simple foaming face wash (the other ones dry my skin out I find) and then the Simple hydrating light moisturiser. I'm not particularly old so not too long out of the teenage skin stage and I've never had much of a problem! Bit of witchazel on the occasional spot does the trick.
