Please help... I'm losing my hair 😓

I'm not even 35 and noticed hair was thing slightly on one temple since Iv had the DC. Iv just noticed on the crown (flipping typical) I'm losing my hair, there's a bald spot which isn't being hidden by the hair that's there.... Iv always looked after my hair, heat protect it, deep condition each week etc. My hair is long, I can only cover it by annoying up dos I don't like. I'm going through a lot of stress and I'm taking that has made it this bad.... What can I do to bring it back?! My hair is my 'crowning glory' so to speak. I love my long hair 😓

OP I know exactly what you're going through, I'm going through the same thing at the moment!

My hair has been coming out in ridiculous amounts every time I run my fingers through it, shower, brush you name it.
My pony tail circumstance has reduced dramatically and my hair just looks so much thinner.

It is all I think and stress about ATM. I have been taking Fermaglobin or whatever it's called and a vitamin D supplement and sea kelp when I remember!

I have had a lot of stress this past 6 months and I think that is the contributing factor!

I have been really trying to keep calm etc, I think I'm going to go to the Drs and ask for anxiety meds as unfortunately I think I am maybe suffering with that. I am anxious constantly and have heart palpitations etc!

I stress about my hair all the time now and am constantly checking my scalp for bald patches etc.

It is HORRIBLE and you have my full sympathies. If things don't improve for me im going to Philip Kingsley!! Bugger the GP, they just don't take it seriously enough!

Flowers another.

This could be the cause. Have you noticed and dents or ridges on your nails that coincide with a couple of months growth? Gp's aren't usually the greatest with hair loss problems but definitely get that ferritin level to over 70.

Anothernamechanger1 · 21/08/2016 10:50

Horrible isn't it frustrated.

Poppy no my nails are fine, don't have any problems with them, they grow quite quick as does my hair and my hair has grown quite a bit as I had it cut and coloured a week ago and there was at least half an inch regrowth....

The month off is just to make it work better - so the two bottles as linked above basically make up six months supply. Think the idea is that it actually makes your hair grow a bit slower as fast growth can mean your hair falls out faster? Have had some prosecco so struggling to really sell it but it has made a difference for me (blood tests at Drs didn't show anything - I'd particularly gone to check thyroid as that also runs in family).

Anothernamechanger1 · 22/08/2016 08:00

I read mixed reviews... I wonder why good for some and not others? How long did it take to work for you? Any side effects?

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this. But what about Chinese herbal medicine. My mum was about the same age as you and she had very thick and long hair. She started loosing it due to stress and she decided to to try herbal meds. Her hair eventually came back. Not as thick/full as before but still she was very happy with the results.

Anothernamechanger1 · 22/08/2016 18:51

Thanks. I'm going to also see a homeopath.

Iv just ordered the plantur shampoo to try.

My Gp said my levels were fine but iron needs to be over 50. Mine were 13. There was a study about hair loss and iron levels a while ago. I take ferrous sulphate now and it's much better

GoldFishFingerz · 23/08/2016 20:48

It's 50 to stop fall out and 70 for regrowth ferritin wise. Ring and ask for your ferritin level results

GoldFishFingerz · 23/08/2016 20:49

Vitamin d3 in a gel capsual

Anothernamechanger1 · 23/08/2016 21:00

My ferritin was 59?

The GP said it isn't alopecia and that where I'm losing the hair is very 'uniform'. Says she won't use the word 'thinning' although that's what it's doing!!! She said I am healthy so it must be my diet and stress over the last couple of months. That's it nothing else!

Are you losing it over your crown or all over your head?

Anothernamechanger1 · 26/08/2016 20:22

It's the crown. The doctor said it was even as in no patches (which is good) she didn't really see the problem, I appreciate it is insignificant to other illnesses. It's very obvious. The very top layer of it sits still you can't see it but lift that up (or the wind blows or the hair moves) you can really see it, then lift that section and it's the same, and alightly around the side of the crown?

This sounds like alopecia . I get bald patches when I'm under stress and it can take months to grow back . My doctor recommended regain for women. I have been taking Kalms for the last 3 months and feel less stressed and my hair is now staying on my head and not coming out in handfuls also the patches are filling in . ( still under severe stress)

Anothernamechanger1 · 26/08/2016 20:40

She said it wasn't alopecia as I don't have the circular patches and something about the hair. It isn't coming out in clumps, just some when washing or brushing.

I found kalms useful before but it makes me groggy? Do you find that?

Sorry about the delay in replying. The reason I ask as to whether it is all over or just on the crown is because, if it is just on the crown it tends to be caused by female pattern baldness. I must say here, that I am not an expert but someone who has the latter and I've done loads and loads of research over time.

GPs tend to know little about the subject area and there's really not a lot of help out there unless you go down the private route. Even then it's not always brilliant. I've seen a dermatologist, and he was totally crap. You can get help either by trichologists or dermatologists.

I am 44 and I noticed my loss around the age of 40. It had been thinning before then but I just hadn't noticed. Telogen Effluvian which is hair loss caused by low iron or stress or illness, tends to be all over and you will most likely see loads of hair in the hairbrush down the shower etc. Hair tends to grow back with that condition or is more likely to. With FMP, it probably won't. If you have FMP the best thing you can do is use men's re-gaine. For the few lucky ones here may grow back and for lots of others it may not regrow the hair but hopefully it will slow down or stop the loss.once you start you have to carry on with it or your hair may thin even more.

What is your mum or dad's hair like? If they have thinning or balding scalps, the chances are you have inherited it. Again I must stress I am not an expert!

There are all sorts of things you can do to your hair look fuller. Currently my hair looks pretty good and I doubt anyone would know.

I have never heard of the regime mentioned by the poster below who visited Philip Kingsley. It sounds really interesting and a really positive outcome.

Anothernamechanger1 · 31/08/2016 08:33

Thanks for coming back. My dad started to recede when he was young. My mum is fine although she said it started to thin just before she had my baby brother but ok now

It isn't only in one place for me, the crown is where I noticed it. I have a small section at the front (side parted fringe) hat it is slightly thinner but no one notices that. If I lift and section my hair I notice around the sides also look thinner. I'm praying it's due to the stress Iv been though lately. I'm taking a hair and nail supplement and my nails sure are growing quickly. I'm taking fereglobin but I'm not sure that the iron is high enough? Iv read ferritin for needs to be 70 or above to produce new hair (mine wasn't that fine but 'fine' in doctors eyes) Iv read we as women should have 15mg iron a day, fereglobin is 14mg, so if you need to get ur iron really high do I need higher supplement?

OP posts:
Yourface · 31/08/2016 09:34

I don't know really. My iron was low too but also 'fine' in the gp's eyes. I took al the supplements I found a pretty strong iron one in Amazon.i did have very low vitamin d and the gp gave me a script for that. I feel like I just gave up hoping in the end. I felt stressed and anxious about it for several years. I noticed my thinning at 40 but it must have started before then. My noticing also coincided with the first few months after getting the merina coil fitted. A lot of people blame it for hair loss. The thing with hair loss is, no one really seems to have an answer for why. I toyed with having it removed but the coil has completely stopped my periods and I can't bear the though of having the horrendous bleeding I had. If you have TE the regaine doesn't do anything, but it is the best thing for FMP, esp the men's one. The is a higher chance of getting facial hair with the men's one but there's always tweezers! It could be worth you seeing someone privately. It's better to act or at least know sooner than later but try and find someone who is def recommended in the field.

Both my mum and dad have thin hair so I can see a definite case for inheriting. Plus some of my mum's sisters and my maternal grandma. It doesn't have to be just your mum apparently.
