Best device for removing hard skin from heels

I've been using a pumice on my hooves; which is the best labour-saving device for this job?

Newton Chiropody Sponges. Totally wonderful and cost about £2 each. You can buy from Amazon or eBay

Soap & Glory foot file from boots. Really the best IMO.

Start off with a microplane foot file (£13 from Amazon). Then finish off with a chiropody sponge.

oh it's very grim, but it really, really works. here - you sort of glide it across hard skin and it reveals lovely baby soft feet.

I have been for a pedicure where they used something like that to 'shave' all the hard skin off your heels and other dry bits. I was at how much came off but the lady who worked there said it was nothing compared with what they remove from some people's feet

So much better to do it in your own home!

Microplane make a hard skin exfoliator. It's pink and I got it on Amazon. It's just like their graters for the kitchen. It is the most effective hard skin remover that I've tried ( not tried footner)

The micro pedi is good it runs on a battery.
Better than Soap and Glory.
Boots have a good foot file also.
Scholl do a foot grater gadget too. Not sure if it's battery or mains operated.

Another vote for Newton's chiropody sponge. It's so quick and effective. I have tried a lot of things on my hooves but it is by fat the best.

I've got one of those whizzy Scholl things and it's utterly crap!

Be careful with those scalpel things: one false move and you'll be hobbling for weeks.

I don't like those knife/razor devices, I always think they cause the hard skin to come back even worse in future. I really like the Scholl Velvet Smooth Pedi battery operated thingy and have been told its best to use it on dry skin and not just after a bath.

The best thing every was a visit I had to a podiatrist, I am not even sure what they did to my hard skin on my heels, it certainly didn't hurt and my skin was like a baby's afterwards, I am going to visit every so often now as he was amazing!

I've got one of those whizzy scholl thingies and think it's great. I use it before showering and then moisturise my feet after the shower. You really do need to moisturise though, I didn't once and my feet were horribly dry!

Thanks all. So how do the Newton sponges work? Presumably it's not just a sponge?

Its like a hard black sponge. You soak your feet in water, soak the sponge, put some soap on it and use it to buff away the dead skin on your heels. Its gentle but very effective.

Yep, those cheap black Newton doing things are ace. Cheapest and best solution by far.
