I think Jamie Bells ears are bigger! And DSs hair is lighter (though he is sporting a 1980s barnet!), and his jaw a teeny bit widea, but he looks a bit like him in the pics of JB aged about 18 which I am incapable of linking to

Scuppered on sundowner front as it is raining Sad Though still hot Wink However no we get to try the huge complimentary umbrellas! Not sure how we'll fit them down the street with the mad traffic/pedestrians Grin

Morning ladies - good luck with the GCSE's or O levels as I still call them. Think we may chicken out of Helvellyn as it"s the last day and just do a small walk taking in a stone circle and pub.

hattymattie · 25/08/2016 08:59

Watching Strange Things but finding it a bit "Spielbergy".

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 25/08/2016 09:03

Good luck to GCSE results receivers....

Stropps, the commitment to furnish a uni room is a 'good sign'. Well done Star

I'm on my way to Greece Grin lamb kebabs, here we come. No pony burgers for me....

bigTillyMint · 25/08/2016 09:21

Ooh, enjoy, Beachy! Which bit?

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 25/08/2016 09:31

Cephalonia, but at the moment, we are delayed on the Tarmac.....

bigTillyMint · 25/08/2016 09:35

Lovely!

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 25/08/2016 09:35

But because we're delayed, we're allowed in the cockpit to take selfies with the pilot Grin

motherinferior · 25/08/2016 09:37

OK...there are various YouTube tutorials but I've found that the best thing is to brush on v lightly with a (clean, obvs) mascara wand, wipe off any surrounding dye with a cotton bud and wash off after five or so minutes. You can do a protective coat of petroleum jelly around the brow to avoid splashes but I don't bother...

bigTillyMint · 25/08/2016 09:43

Do you wash off with just water or soap and water or something else?

OP posts:
motherinferior · 25/08/2016 09:55

Soap and water is fine.

motherinferior · 25/08/2016 09:56

Just don't leave on too long - though if you do all isn't lost.

bigTillyMint · 25/08/2016 10:08

If you leave it on longer it gets darker, right?

OP posts:
motherinferior · 25/08/2016 10:09

Yes. Probably best to build up slowly though I never have the patience!

motherinferior · 25/08/2016 10:13

So mix a pea-sized blob from each tube in an egg-cup - I just swirl them around with the mascara brush (if you need one of those go and get a mascara from a pound shop!) - and then brush on lightly. You can also use one of those brushes for eyebrow makeup or even any sort of fine brush but I've found that a mascara brush leaves less on the skin (but that washes off in a few days even if you do end up looking a bit werewolfy).

It's over..finished. No more school. DD's over all grades were not high, as expected except in Art and certain modules of other subjects, which were very good (although they didn't influence her overall grades). I'm tearfully proud of her. In primary school they told me she'd never be any good and that we should look for a special, residential faculty for her. (Yes, really). I am sad that miserable Gove got rid of the Speaking section in English, as for the kids who struggle with writing it would have made a difference.

I am driving down to the flat with DD now to get away from all the hype and chattering that is going about the results. I'm exhausted from it. BD I will be in touch by text once I get there. Stropps so pleased that there is progress for your DD and you are inching toward a happy outcome at Uni this autumn. Will catch up later. xx

bigTillyMint · 25/08/2016 10:16

Werewolfy?ShockGrin Definitely don't want that look!

I will try later when I have ferried DS to get his results and drop him at the tube to go to PIL for the weekend - we will be teen-free, YAY!

Rose, I have a lump in my throat......well done to your dd, what a trooper, and all good wishes to her as she moves on to the next stage.... Have a lovely, restful time together, sounds just the ticket.

MontserratCaballe · 25/08/2016 10:28

Huge well done to DD, Rose, and to you for everything you have done to help, support and encourage her. You both deserve a medal and a huge piece of cake. I hope you have a good rest whilst you are away. Flowers for you both.

Am going to Superdrug to buy the stuff. Will report back.

bigTillyMint · 25/08/2016 10:30

Rose, well done to your DD for getting through it and to you for supporting her. And Boo to her Primary School. Onwards and upwards.

bigTillyMint · 25/08/2016 10:31

Monty, perhaps we can do it simultaneously!

Rudy glad DS is home
Hope results are what people wanted!

Whilst Beachy is off to eat kebabs I am ensconced in her lovely house looking after the (grumpy - missing her mum) Roxy and the bonkers (nothing between his ears says Beachy's DD1) Dylan.... Have met the lovely Beachy family who ds said are so nice and big thanks to Beachy's Ds for the late night zip wire and mole hunting :)

magimedi · 25/08/2016 10:47

Rose - well done to both of you for getting through.

The weather here is lovely & the sea is as warm as I have ever known it. It's a late afternoon high tide, so will be even warmer about 6pm if you fancy a dip.

Stropps - sounds like a great step forward.

I would be petrified of dying my eyebrows - I am so cack handed I'd probably end up doing my hair as well. Grin

Stropperella · 25/08/2016 10:50

Rudy, I hope ds is better today!

Rose, very well done to your dd. And hooray for the end of school.

Woo, BD, hope you are getting the same lovely weather at Beachy's as we have further west.

Have fun, Beachy!

My sympathies to all those enduring the stress of a results day today. I hope that all is well with all the dcs opening their envelopes this morning.

Re: eyebrow dye - as my eyebrows are the one remnant of the very blond hair I had in childhood, I have been dyeing them for about 25 years. I use the Colorsport 30 Day Mascara (lash dye) in brown and leave it on for a bare 2 mins. Any longer and I end up with caterpillar brows. I also use the same stuff in black on my lashes. It's easy to do yourself. I find mascara crumbles and flakes down my face, probably because I have extraordinarily deep-set eyes, a bit like 2 currants in an uncooked bun. The kits come with little mascara brushes.

Dd consented to go yesterday after insisting she needed to go to a hair appointment at 11am (this is actually a step forward, as for the last few years she has refused to go to a hairdresser), so we didn't even arrive at the university until nearly 3pm. She was able to go and view her accommodation from the outside and looked at all the campus facilities. She is slap-bang next to the medical centre - which is excellent - and has muttered about registering there online (hooray, because her accessing help when she needs it is going to be the key to success of this entire enterprise). She is already in a FB chat group with the people sharing the accomm with her and they are discussing who is bringing what in terms of kitchen equipment etc. At the end of the visit, we sat and had coffee outside the very swish main coffee bar and she thanked me and said that she thought everything had turned out for the best and she was really pleased she will be going to this place rather than her original offer. So am I, quite frankly. It's going to cost her an arm and a leg, because she is on a full maintenance award, as well as the tuition fees, but hopefully that will concentrate her mind and enable her to focus on actually doing some work from time to time.

We then went straight from there to the Ikea 15 mins away (no such things in our neck of the woods). Didn't get home until after 10. Dd has a medical stuff to deal with now, but I am hoping that she will now be able to use the general excitement she is feeling to get her through any tricky troughs over the next couple of weeks. Freshers' Week starts on Sept 10th, so I'll be dropping her off on the 9th. Not long to get everything sorted!

Cremolafoam · 25/08/2016 10:59

Oh BD, all of that sounds fab.good on Beachy !! Crepeys are GREAT! Now relaxez-vous.WineCake

Rose, brilliant about dds results. I want a magic wand to take away all the stress you've had this year.
You really deserve a medal with the amount of support you've given to your dcs.Flowers

Beachy Have a lovely time in Kephalonia. Truly beautiful place. I had my 18th on a beach there, droning ouzo with my BGF watching shooting stars.Smilehappy days.

dNiece, the brainiac of the family managed a full row of A*s. Shock dsis, is staggered, as am I.

Good luck with the brow dying. I'd be too afraid I think....
