Shall we share budget options that we've found to be as good as their expensive counterparts?

I shall start by suggesting Nanoblur as an eyeshadow primer. I used to use Urban Decay and it was so expensive for a tiny tube and in the old bottles you could never get all the product out. So when j ran out I decided to try and find something different. I had lots of odd bits of stuff in my various make up bags and tried a few primers etc. I had some Nanoblur that I had bought for a special occasion and tried a tiny amount on my eyelids and OMG it works brilliantly. It will take me ages to work my way through the tube so it terms of economy it will be excellent long term and it works better than any of the other eyelid primers I've tried.

Yes to Bourjois healthy mix foundation!

I rate Kiko eyeshadow and blusher, really good value and quality.

Garner micellar water is just as good more expensive brands.

RobberBride · 27/07/2016 22:27

Collection felt tip eyeliner goes on brilliantly and stays put all day. Absolute bargain www.boots.com/en/Collection-Extreme-24-Hour-Felt-Tip-Liner_1160659/

Garnier Micellar Water is as good as all of the more expensive brands. I've got sensitive acne-prone skin and it works really well.

The Simple Eye Make Up Remover mentioned up thread - can I recommend not the clear version, it is like battery acid (check out the Boots reviews). I haven't tried the white lotion, my eyes watered at the thought!

RobberBride · 27/07/2016 22:27

Ha, cross post on the Garnier!

CointreauVersial · 27/07/2016 22:32

Boots Essentials do a marvellous Cucumber Eye Make Up Remover gel. Huge bottle, less than £2, works brilliantly.

Barry M nail varnishes are excellent and very cheap.

MrsAlexanderSkarsgard · 28/07/2016 06:43

This mascara from Boots Seventeen range is really good and only £6.49

PhyllisWig · 28/07/2016 06:50

Olay anti wrinkle toner. Cost a couple of quid and seems to have sorted my skin out better than the Clinique mild clarifying lotion I had before. It does have alcohol in it but my skin doesn't seem to mind.

Destinysdaughter · 28/07/2016 07:46

This mascara from Wilkos is pretty good and only £2.80! 😀

Destinysdaughter · 28/07/2016 07:47

Oops pressed too soon! Here's the link.

Vichy Aqualia serum is just as nice (if not nicer) than Clarins Hydraquench.

Collection lasting perfection concealer -love this as covers well and doesn't crease under my eyes. My Bobbi brown one creases terribly

Lottapianos · 28/07/2016 07:59

Superdrug serum works every bit as well as the Vichy Aqualia serum on me. I prefer the more creamy texture of the Superdrug version actually

Another huge fan of Astral as a night cream

Boots Botanics Facial Oil works better and smells better than Clarins Blue Orchid Oil for a third of the price

Rimmel Match Perfection is supposed to be identical to YSL Touch Eclat foundation. I have dry skin and I love MP

Revlon lipsticks (regular lipsticks, not the lip butters) are fab and totally non drying, half the price of MAC

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/07/2016 08:11

If you order on line TBS is often 40% cheaper, I'd never buy in store.

Trills · 28/07/2016 08:24

Is Collection the brand formerly known as Collection 2000? Generally found in Superdrug?

And is nanoblur (mentioned in the OP) the Body Shop one? They have a couple of things with "blur" in the name.

doorhandle · 28/07/2016 09:20

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Primark makeup.

The lip liners are excellent, I use them as lipsticks, they've got great staying power
Their liquid eye liner pen is the best I've ever used for staying power, it's all still there at the end of the day

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/07/2016 09:24

Good point and Primark eyelash curler for a quid are AMAZING!

SleepFreeZone · 28/07/2016 09:25

Oooh I have never tried Primark make up, good tip!

I'd recommend Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation, it's £7.99 in Boots but I've gotten it for cheaper from Superdrug and Bodycare. It has a really buildable coverage so it can provide a light to high coverage and all the variations in between.

MUA Skin Define Hydro Setting Powder is £3 from Superdrug and bloody brilliant! It keeps your foundation in place and adds coverage, if you were after a really lightweight, light coverage powder then this is for you.

MarbleFox · 28/07/2016 09:41

I forgot to mention Miss Sporty! A very cheap brand that can be found in Superdrug. The packaging is childish and a bit off-putting, I actually think it's aimed at young girls just getting interested in make-up but their pencil and liquid eyeliner are brilliant.

LyndaNotLinda · 28/07/2016 09:59

Pure eye make up remover - Waitrose own brand - is dead cheap and often on 3 for 2.

Lots of the MUA stuff from Superdrug is excellent.

rollonthesummer · 28/07/2016 10:07

I loved the 2true range from Superdrug-it was brilliant, but I can't seem to buy it any more-does anyone know where it's gone?! Or know of a similarly priced alternative (cheap!)

pasturesgreen · 28/07/2016 10:43

Sephora Touche Lumiere concealer works a treat in lieu of Touch Eclat. Less than half the price and I've been using it for years, I wouldn't go back.

I swear by Clinique mascara which, while not exactly inexpensive, is still cheaper than the really big brands.

Rimmel Match Perfection foundation is a great alternative to pricier ones. I alternate between it and Chanel CC cream and the bottle lasts forever.

Bogoffdailymail · 28/07/2016 10:50

I have oily skin and prefer Bourjois 123 perfect foundation to their healthy mix foundation,

BothBarrels · 28/07/2016 10:58

Soap & Glory thick and fast HD collagen coat mascara from boots is £10.50 and amazing. I was using Lancôme at £24 and I'd say the S&G is as good if not better. It doesn't clog and it doesn't crumble.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/07/2016 11:04

I usually go for a Maybelline Mascara; way better than a Lancôme one! You have to chuck them after a while anyway for hygiene, so why pay thirty quid when you can pay seven?

I do quite a few Avon online orders; a lot of their stuff is really good and low prices in comparison with my beloved Clinique! Avon's argan oil shampoo is great, too.

puzzledbyadream · 28/07/2016 11:04

Totally agree with the Collection Felt Tip Liner and the Natural Collection Powder. Both hangovers from my cheap make up days and I haven't found better.

Barry M Lipstain Lipsticks are amazing, they literally stay on all day. I have them in all three colours.
