Has anyone successfully slimmed down from 14-16 to 10?

What's your height? How did you do it?

I've been big all my life. And I'm really hoping to be a 10 for once in my life. I managed to slim down to a small 12 (from 18-20) but, well, gained weight. I'm almost 5'8".

I lost almost 3 stone with Slimming World, and have kept it off for a year and a half. I went from a size 14-16 to a size 8-10. I'm 5'5".

It was quicker and easier than I thought it would be, but I don't think I could have done it without the structure of Slimming World.

Good luck, OP.

I'm curious. .. those of you who say having a Fitbit has helped you enormously, in which way exactly?

I went from a 14 to a 12 by cutting out all alcohol, sweet things, takeaways, treats, having a small lunch and then having a reasonably normal (but healthy dinner). Took about 3 months. Was very boring though. Then went from a 12 to a 10 by doing 5:2 and maintained weight and dress size for about 2 years afterwards (until I got pregnant again so obviously had to stop). Lost about 2 stone overall. I'm 5ft5.

Hi OP
I did exactly that after DS was born. Almost 10 years ago.
Before I was pregnant I was a gym bunny and a regular swimmer. I am also short and was an overweight child til I was 17. Went from very trim size 8 to a 14/16.

I was so sad to see my post birth body. Wobbly tummy, fat legs and droopy boobs. It took me two years, I found it took ages. Once DS was about 3 months old I started swimming, and then as I felt a bit more human, I swam more and more. We had a dog to walk too. And going back to work kept me out of the fridge! I am naturally quite greedy. Love all food.

I also bought a bike a few years ago as I was starting to feel the swimming wasn't enough. Cycling is great for the legs!

I eat healthily and stay off the booze. Love salads, meat, fish, anything really. And If I want carbs, I have them for breakfast or lunch. Not so much for dinner.

At age 45 I am aware that I need to keep an eye on my figure. Being short and greedy is not a great combination. WaaaaH!

I wish you luck!

yes. im 5 ft 8. i was13 stone and size 14-16 about 12 years ago.

when i was size 10, i weighed 8 stone 10lbs.

i lost the 4 stone over a couple of years as i had to totally retrain myself. i was young but over weight compared to so many of my peers at work etc. my weight gain was all due to poor diet as i was fairly active due to having no car.

the weight loss was very hard work.
i didnt follow a diet but made more sensible food choices.
i cut out take away foot and ready meals.
had vitually zero carbs except for breakfast cereals.
meals were a huge mound of salad and veg with a protein
i drank spirits instead of beer/wine.

i had to to be extremely disciplined because i have naturally a huge appetite - for me, it was a constant battle of trying not to eat what i wanted. it was mentally hard losing and maintaining the weight. it caused some stress going out to eat with my then partner as i found meals out hard due to fatty offerings! a lot of the time i wanted to plough my way through a whole bag of fun size snickers in one sitting and every week i did, so this why my weight loss took 2 years!

after dc2, im sitting stubbornly at 9 and a half stone and a size 12. id like to be 10 again but do get people telling me i do look slim. i literally eat whatever i want. for me, with my frame size, body shape of rectangle and appetite (huge) being a 10 is too much hard work.

so, it can be done but for me took a lot of effort as im not a naturally slim person, i do like to stuff my face and eat large portions.

Yes, I have. It wasn't really intentional at first, but i spent most of my early 20s drinking copious amounts of alcohol (beer mostly). I also ate out all the time and had takeaways. Once I stopped living the student lifestyle I slimmed down naturally to a large 12 (I still drank a fair amount socially, but more wine and spirits, and I started to cook a bit more). I then made a conscious effort to lose weight by cutting calories down to around 1700 a day and going to the gym. Since then, I'm usually a size 10 - I do go up to a 12 sometimes but when I start needing to wear my larger clothes, I just do a bit more exercise and cut back on the cakes! I've made it sound easy and it wasnt- but now living a semi-healthy lifestyle and maintaining my weight isn't something I have to consciously think of. I was an 18 at my heaviest and I'm 5ft2

I have the Fitbit charge HR. It monitors steps, calories burnt, heart rate and exercise so is great at keeping track of how active you are. I love mine and it's definitely helped me stay slim.

I went from 14/16 to 8/10 last year on LighterLife. I've since had ds and am back to 14/16. I'm bf at the moment but once ds is weaned I'm going back on it to lose a stone or 2 then body coach 90 days thing for the rest

AmberNectarine · 22/06/2016 09:11

Yep, was a 16, now a 6-8. Have kept it off for 8y through watching what I eat and exercise. Perfectly possible - confused by those saying 'you'll put it back on, so don't bother'.

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 22/06/2016 09:25

I want to lose half a stone as it has crept on since the start of menopause. I am nearly there by being v low carb and lots of exercise- two long dog walks a day through hills and woods pluse 40 min a day on the exercise bike. I am vegan and have a healthy diet and no snacking - but I do like Wine which doesn't help.

It is possible to keep exercising.

I used to be very fat, but now I have lost 20kg by running and controlling my diet.
