Where do you buy your clothes from?

Hello, I was looking at the thread about Boden and was curious where all of you buy clothes. I have never bought anything from Boden, it isn't to my taste. I normally go to M &s for their Limited collection and splash out on nice jeans and shoes from Liberty's or equivalent. Any recommendations anyone? Oh buy the way I am absolutely useful at finding things in Top Shop or New Look, I find it too daunting. I don't buy clothes very often.....

charity shops

sorry, thats not very helpful

but a. the stuff there is often really great quality, much better than tescos or whatever and b. all your money is thusly going to charity

go to charity shops in posh areas if you want nice stuff

doggiesayswoof · 16/01/2007 19:28

next clearance shop for cheapo work clothes/shoes
M&S
principles
warehouse
dorothy perkins is much nicer than it used to be

debenhams sometimes - clothes can be nice but the shop itself depresses me a bit

McDreamy · 16/01/2007 19:36

Coast - really lovely
M&S
Debenhams
Zara

lucykate · 16/01/2007 19:38

monsoon, in the sale
principles, in the sale
boden, in the sale
occasionally wrap, also in the sale

florenceuk · 16/01/2007 19:39

I don't get on with M&S - I think I'm the wrong shape and they never have my size when I go and have a look. I buy from Gap/Topshop/Hennes/Uniqlo/Kew/Oasis and for a posh suit I followed a Mumsnetter's advice and went to LK Bennett. All of these shops are however local to me (in Wimbledon) and I can shop on the way home from work as my shopping time is pretty limited. I'm scared of shopping for clothes in Liberty - everything looks expensive! (Wool is a different question). Topshop is excellent for knitwear (like this: blue top and, if you are so inclined, trendy empire-line tops. New Look I find much more variable and because I have tiny feet I can't buy their cheap shoes (they had some great looking shoes in the window last week).

florenceuk · 16/01/2007 19:40

ooh and Zara is great - but things sell out fast.

smoggie · 16/01/2007 19:48

Boden in the sale
Zara - lots of tops and trousers, but sizes can be small. I'm a 12 and have to buy the large!
Monsoon for special stuff
Some Next (casual tops/Tees)
Principles - much better the last few years, some of the stuff looks v Monsoon'ish

janeite · 16/01/2007 19:57

Principles, especially Petite but you have to lift through a lot of horrid frilly knitwear in order to find the nice stuff. They have some lovely tunics and of course, I got my gorgeous peacock dress there.

M & S Limited collection; although i had a look at their new stuff at the weekend and it is truly vile on the whole.

Gap for jeans and camisoles but only in the sale.

Boden sometimes in the sale, but only skirts. I like their little knee length A line ones for wearing with boots.

Basically I have Whistles tastes but Dorothy Perkins budget.

Nothing in Monsoon ever fits me - it's all too long, too wide across the back and shoulders and too tight in the boobage. Zara is hideous. Topshop is utterly hideous.

jalopy · 16/01/2007 20:09

Kew

EmmyLou · 16/01/2007 20:17

White Stuff - has replaced Fat Face in my affections as felt a bit muttony and too much like my 11 year old DD in Fat Face.

Whistles (but only once or twice a year for a skirt and a couple of tops)

Monsoon - I also find the sizing and shape of clothes a bit odd. Did get a nice pair of jeans here recently though.

Debenhams - especially Red Herring jumpers (v cheap) and John Rocha stuff is OK.

Hulababy · 16/01/2007 20:28

Recently, I get a lot from Monsoon - their sizing seems to fit me quite well, even their non petite clothes!

Then rest come from all over - M&S, Debenhams, Next, George, USC, Zara, etc.

McDreamy · 17/01/2007 10:42

Love Monsoon for me and DD and also love White Stuff and Fat Face (but prefer WS)

McDreamy · 17/01/2007 10:42

I have problems buying clothes. I am 6ft tall, size 16/18 and have size 8 feet.
However, i buy jeans from Dorothy Perkins and New Look, both do a 33in inside leg. i also have loads of combat/cargo type trouser and my dressy type trousers, all of which again were Dorothy perkins.
I am also quite long in the body, so tops sometimes look wierd on me, but thankfully longish tops seem to be all the rage this year.
