If you're in your 40's what's your favourite foundation?

I know .... yet another foundation thread - sorry!

However, genuinely interested to see whether there are a selection of foundations which work well for those of us in our 40's?

I'm using By Terry Cover Expert just now. It worked for me until they added SPF and the shades changed. I replaced with what By Terry said was the closest match to what I was using (ie one shade down) but it's just not the right and has a distinct orange tone. Tried Dior Star and was colour matched with their device in Debenhams - but daylight showed a real tideline and total mismatch between that and my skin tone.

So I'm on the hunt again!

Usually use Chanel Lift Lumiere which is great, recently I decided to try Bourjois city radiance foundation, attracted by some good reviews I'd read ;have to say am seriously impressed, gives a very good finish and easy to apply.

Giorgio Armani luminous silk is lovely on my 42 year old normal but still prone to spots skin. Covers uneven skin tone really well but with a light, natural looking coverage. Also Laura Mercier tinted foundation, even though it stings my eyes a bit.

I am also nearly 40 - I use Bourgeois CC cream (after reading Lisa Armstrong and reviews on Mumsnet) for work/ weekend days and YSL Touche eclat in the evenings/ for special occasions. Love them both. Did have an issue with the Bourgeois sliding off over the course of the day but have found applying with a foundation brush 'fixes' it much better. I use touch eclat concealer. I have come to realise that at this age - less is more. Thick foundation/powder/ blusher sitting in creases emphasises them rather than hides them.

I'm watching with interest.

I have quite dry/dehydrated skin, with tiny flaky bits tending to gather round my nose. But my face is quite often shiny too. Hmm

I've never found a foundation that truly works and gives good coverage all day. They seem to either sink in, slide off or look chalky.

Laura Mercier every day cover, but Chanel les beiges if I need to look good for a special occasion, big night out, wedding etc..

Why do all the best options contain FRAGRANCE!!!!!! Angry

I try new/different foundations/BB/CC/tinted moisturisers all the time in a bid to get the right combination of colour, texture and longevity. Not found it yet but the closest is Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser. The only thing slightly 'off' is the colour, it's passable (I only wear a thin layer and blend it well) but it isn't perfect.

I used to like YSL youth liberator serum foundation but that started caking up between my eyebrows. That's my major issue texture wise. I have dehydrated skin and despite 3x weekly AHA & BHA treatments (skin doesn't like more than that) and lots of lovely hyaluronic acid serums and creams, that patch clings to foundation.

I tend to not bother with base anyway most days as my skin is pretty good and regular foundation/base wearing clogs my pores and breaks me out (do wear other make up though).

I love max factor miracle match, I buy a paler and darker shade - next to each other colourwise - and blend them according to how much sun I've caught. Paler is perfect in the winter, darker in the summer and a mixture the rest of the time. It gives fantastic coverage but is light to wear.

I think one of best I have found is Loreal lumi

Chanel Vit and Dior Star both also good and benefit oxygen
