Have a lower facelift to get rid of jowls that have appeared, not terrible, definitely aging and bothers you every day?

Btw I'm really scared posting this here but interested to hear all sides, thanks

MailonlineEffOff · 27/04/2016 22:25

No.

StickTheDMWhereTheSunDontShine · 27/04/2016 22:26

No.

I would analyse why natural age related changes in my appearance were troubling me so much.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 27/04/2016 22:26

Definitely if I could afford it and it bothered me.

PerryHatter · 27/04/2016 22:28

If I wanted to, I would.

Just like if I could afford a boob job now, I'd get one.
It's fine to want to alter yourself unless you get to a point where you'll never be good enough in your own eyes.

LostMyBaubles · 27/04/2016 22:28

I would.
If I could I would also have my lips done and a lil bit of botox right now. Im 24 lol

Jaguarana · 27/04/2016 22:32

Definitely not.

A close relative of mine had this procedure. The healing was long & difficult and she has been left with quite bad scarring under her chin and behind her ears. She was quite a bit older than 45 when she got it done, 60ish I think. I don't think she is any happier with her appearance now than she was before the procedure.

Having seen all that, I couldn't do it - though personally I wouldn't put myself through unnecessary surgery anyway.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/04/2016 22:33

You want this 'facelift' (non surgery). There's a telegraph and daily mail article that are googleable about it - good results I think

www.phiclinic.com/non-surgical/treatments/8-point-lift/

LanaorAna1 · 27/04/2016 22:34

I have that problem - mum and granny had massive jowls & bobbing turkey necks that kept them out of Norfolk for sheer terror of Bernard Matthews.

Mine started to grow last year. I won't do anything about it because I reckon if I did they'd grow back. Ask a surgeon if that would happen to yours - if not, think about it. But I have an idea you have to keep having surgery regularly anyway, it's never a one-off.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/04/2016 22:36

www.telegraph.co.uk/beauty/face/would-you-try-the-new-8-point-facelift/

Here's the telegraph article about it - it's the doctor from the phi clinic who did hers

mamalovebird · 27/04/2016 22:40

No. At the moment, I'd never consider messing with my face (I'm 39).

I've always fancied getting rid of my jelly belly as I've had it forever. Even ay a size 10 I had the overhang.

But I just don't think I could bring myself to mess with my face.

ChicRock · 27/04/2016 22:43

Yes absolutely.

At the very least I'd go for a consultation to talk through options, procedures, healing times, etc.

Stylingwax · 27/04/2016 22:44

Dunno.
If I could be 100% sure of the results than yes.
My family get jowly so I am paranoid.
I had fillers last year at the cost of £1k. Am still relatively young (31) but doctor who did it said it was a good time to start as my face was starting to sag Hmm
Couldn't really see £1k of difference so haven't bothered again and think I was being silly anyway.
Might reconsider if it gets to the turkey stage.

Falling270 · 27/04/2016 22:46

Yes. I'd book a top surgeon and go for it.

BaronessBomburst · 27/04/2016 22:47

No.

DeadAsADildo · 27/04/2016 22:48

I'm 45 and my jowls give me Gravitas as befits my age.

dibly · 27/04/2016 22:48

Yes I'd consider it. Life's too short to put up with hating your appearance. I'd want to go by recommendation though, and would probably explore botox and fillers first

suzannecaravaggio · 27/04/2016 22:52

a little while ago I saw a telly program where they did a lower face lift under local anesthetic...the healing appeared to be much quicker than an op done under general

Even so 45 seems a bit young, what about one of those thread lift things, or have you looked into fillers and botox...they can have a lifting effect and without the trauma of surgery

Floisme · 27/04/2016 22:54

Up to you but, since you ask, not worth it.

Ageing never stops - fix your jowls and in another year something else will come along. You're starting a battle you're never going to win.

My face reminds me that life is short and that I need to get a move on.

suzannecaravaggio · 27/04/2016 23:07

I would wait a bit, anti aging procedures can only improve and get cheaper

Blackheart2016 · 27/04/2016 23:10

I would have said no way it's a bit drastic but now reading some of these comments I might consider it myself (from a jowly family myself.)

Blackheart2016 · 27/04/2016 23:12

I agree about fillers being expensive and not worth the cost. I had fillers in my cheeks which cost hundreds and the therapist said, you'll love it but I looked like a chipmunk for a day and after that I looked exactly the same as ever.

signalred · 27/04/2016 23:13

Yes definitely.

Life's too short, if you look in the mirror and something bothers you then in my eyes I would want it fixed

candykane25 · 27/04/2016 23:14

No. 41 and jowly here. So what?

I saw meryl Streep on telly this morning. If she has had plastic surgery then it is amazing because she looks fabulous and natural.

I don't think you need to look young to look attractive. Good lippy and a smile is all you need.

suzannecaravaggio · 27/04/2016 23:19

I'd worry about the risks to brain health from general anesthetic, and just the risk of something going wrong :(
It cant just be about money, we can all point to celebs who look really natural and others who just look weird, presumably they can all access the top people so what givesConfused

there's a lot to be said for just going with it and focusing on general health instead imo

suzannecaravaggio · 27/04/2016 23:21

meryl Streep on telly this morning. If she has had plastic surgery
if
if??
oh come one, of course she has :o
