Have a lower facelift to get rid of jowls that have appeared, not terrible, definitely aging and bothers you every day?

Btw I'm really scared posting this here but interested to hear all sides, thanks

OP posts:
ScarletForYa · 27/04/2016 23:21

Yes. 100%

But I'd get that surgeon who did Toyah's face. He was brilliant.

Xmasbaby11 · 27/04/2016 23:28

I would not do it. It's not the message I'd want to send to my two daughters.

Ladybirdbookworm · 27/04/2016 23:59

I think it would be my total last resort
I would try other less invasive techniques first - not quite sure what !!! But I would try everything available
We all have something we don't like so maybe you have fab lips or amazing eyes - accentuate the positive ( that's what I keep telling myself when I despair at my skinny lips and eye bags) Smile

Bananajam · 28/04/2016 03:37

I would speak to a consultant to see if what I wanted was possible and then make a decision once I had all the facts. Sometimes what you see in the mirror and what you'd like to see aren't possible! However I don't see any harm in doing something that makes you feel better.

Effendi · 28/04/2016 03:38

Hell yes.

BoogieTime · 28/04/2016 05:29

Yes. If I could afford it I would have a nose job. And I can afford Botox so I'll be getting that soon Grin

readingrainbow · 28/04/2016 05:46

I wouldn't be interested in any unnecessary surgical procedure. There are significant and, IMO underplayed risks to general anaesthetic that need to be considered.

SueTrinder · 28/04/2016 05:55

No. No-one else sees the age effects that you do because they don't stare at you as much as you probably stare at yourself in the mirror and they like you and see you every day. Think about your friends and colleagues, do they look older than when you first met them? Does it bother you that they look older or do you never think about it? I'm guessing not. So why put yourself through a dangerous procedure to change your appearance when no-one else cares how you look, what they care about is what is inside?

HappyGirlNow · 28/04/2016 07:46

Have you tried cheek fillers? These act like scaffolding and lift the face reducing jowls.

burnishedsilver · 28/04/2016 09:11

I might but I would try facial exercises and other possible solutions first.

Ferrerotoffeemint · 28/04/2016 09:18

The years have been kind to me so far and if I was bothered by my looks and I could afford it then yes I would have a nip and tuck here and there. I have a decent skin care regime which has made a huge difference to the quality of my skin but I do have to wear foundation to cover my redness so I know how annoying it is to look in the mirror everyday and see my imperfections glaring at me.

UpsiLondoes · 28/04/2016 09:21

Only if I could stomach watching the surgery explained and partially performed on YouTube. I had fancied getting rid of my dark circles under eyes (which I've had since a teen) and after reading what the surgery entailed and how they reached those pockets -- I'm very comfortable applying concealer for rest of my life, thank you.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/04/2016 09:56

No, its a slippery slope. What next? You would need to be a strong character not to get paranoid about other bits. Lets face it, you can cheat age on your face but what do you do about the rest of your body? Age happens everywhere, not just the face.

stitch10yearson · 28/04/2016 10:01

No. A few years ago when I used to complain about how awful my tummy skin was, my sister, a surgeon got fed up of my complaining, and looked at it. She poked and prodded and said that atually, yes it was as awful as I was always complaining, and that if I had presented to her as a patient, she would give me a tummy tuck on the NHS.
That was all the reassurance I needed. I really did have a problem, but I chose not to go through surgery because it carries risk, no matter how small. The thought of my kids losing theri mommy whilst having a general anesthetic because she was vain about how she looks in a bikini, is just too selfish for me to contemplate.
I stopped whingeing about my tummy and bought bigger pants.
If the risks are worth it to you, then do it. If not, then dont. No one else can give you an answer to whether you should have it done

suzannecaravaggio · 28/04/2016 10:02

Its easy and free to have a youthful body, well beyond fifty or sixty plus, its just a case of good diet and plenty of exercise plus not baking in the sun to maintain skin quality

The face is a whole other kettle of fish, not that healthy living won't help but after fifty or so creases develop and the face sags and gets older as subcutaneous fat pads disappear and ligaments sag

Pisssssedofff · 28/04/2016 11:07

I think I would yes but gee I'd research research research because when it goes wrong frankly you're screwed

BabyGanoush · 28/04/2016 11:49

I would never have any kind of surgery unless it was absolutely necessary.

Don't like what botox/filler does to my friends' faces, I keep being distracted by it when I talk to them Grin.

kissedbyamoonbeam · 28/04/2016 11:55

Not unnecessary medical procedures no.
Lauriefairycakes link tho, now that looks tempting.

Jackie0 · 28/04/2016 11:59

Yes , absolutely

ChinUpChestOut · 28/04/2016 12:08

I think I'd go and make a few appointments with plastic surgeons and hear what they have to say, and then make my decision.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/04/2016 13:01

If I get that 8 point lift I'm going to post about it - same age as OP

Drinksforeveryone · 28/04/2016 13:03

It's up to the individual.

I have other things I would spend my money on - cosmetic surgery wise - but will put up with a bit of sagging and bagging for a while longer.

I am a few years older than you - and other than a wrinkly turkey neck don't think my face is THAT bad.

I'd just be very cautious and check out the surgeon, and any potential problems before going ahead.

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/04/2016 13:05

I would look at less invasive treatments first. But ultimately if it really bothered me and there wasn't any other solution then yes, I would.

BillBrysonsBeard · 28/04/2016 13:07

Jowels at 45? Christ! I bet you don't really. I would definitely have something done when I'm older but not 45.

LuckySantangelo1 · 28/04/2016 13:08

Have you tried a Slendertone Face? Great bit of kit.
