Superga, Vans, Ash etc

Last year I bought Converse for the first time and wore them for two days on holiday, after which my feet ached so much I haven't worn them since. So, I'd like to try something different but with more support/padding. Possibly a bit of a platform sole to add a bit of height but not essential. Don't mind slip ons or laces. Is there a make that's known to be the most comfortable?

Someone recently gave me a tip for getting the white rubber bumper (not sure if that's the right terminology) on my trainers clean. A Flash Magic Eraser, it's amazing mine look "box fresh"😉 after a quick going over

What's Superga sizing like? True to size or come up larger/smaller?

was dumb enough to click link and now want to bloody buy some!!!

mrsrhodgilbert · 26/04/2016 08:18

Supergas come up big. I needed to go down a size when trying them yesterday.

There are lots of alternatives to the usual trainers.

I have converse but personally don't find them comfy. Superga are nice but also heavy.

New balance yes sporty but comfy.

I often look for brighter trainers (Nike air etc) or Zara etc - in fact in a small boutique I saw and bought those slip on trainer sole loafers in some lurid metal effect print but they're the comfiest things ever! I also (shoot me now) love ballet pumps for warmer weather or spring weather. but they're not trainers

My brother says the Fat Face trainer shoes are nice I think the women's section does similar. I also saw some very retro red yellow and green and black Travel Fox trainers (that I wore to death as a teen).

Wouldn't discount Ash either but for the price so many other brands do them cheaper h&m river island etc and just as comfy and stylish as Ash (which I love).

Has anyone got a view on Bensimon plimsolls? Sizing, comfort?

OnlyLovers · 26/04/2016 11:25

MrsK, that's a great tip! I've just bought some Superdry shoes with a 'bumper' and was thinking that it'll only be about five minutes before they're grubby and worn-looking.

Keds are nice and have a little arch support, and come in loads of colours. Can often get them on Amazon or ebay a lot cheaper too! I've found they last ages too and I walk a lot (I don't drive)

I've got converse, they're ok comfort wise, I do have narrow feet though.

I also have suede puma trainers which I love.

I'm thinking about superga after reading this! They do look a bit smarter than converse.

I really like these in dark grey and a bargain at £18 but they haven't got my size. I am usually a 4, will I get away with a 3?

I'm a 4 and just tried on some superga's in a 4 and they were massive. Am sending them back to exchange for a 3. I'd try it if I were you.

Dancergirl · 26/04/2016 13:25

They do half sizes though as well or do you need to go down a whole size?

Dancergirl · 26/04/2016 14:47

I've ordered the dark grey ones in a 3 and another colour in a 3.5 to compare. Thanks Smile

Don't get the thing with Superga, Judith charmers or Gloria Hunniford would be the ultimate superga poster girls I think.

Nike theas are quite comfortable. I just bought a pair after someone recommended them on here. Was planning to get the Roshe but when I tried them on the material looked very strange at the toe area, still super light and comfortable so I understand why they are so popular.
