Sorry, a big no-no from me

Budababe · 09/01/2007 08:29

No no and no again!

fishie · 09/01/2007 08:29

no. not unless you are absolutely minute. they do not confer felicity kendall-like cuteness, more sofa-like blimp.

Budababe · 09/01/2007 08:30

1 - they look horrible

2 - Imagine try to go to loo in a hurry?

MrsBadger · 09/01/2007 08:33

Dungarees are never ok, pregnant or not.

if you're trying to avoid uncomfortable things round your waist, perhaps a dress?

Jelley · 09/01/2007 08:36

Big yes from here to balance things up a bit.
I loved mine (the mothercare ones) only disadvantage is going to toilet if you are daft enough to put a jumper over the top.

lissielou · 09/01/2007 08:43

i had dungerees with ds and they looked awful but were sooooo comfy. so big YES!!!!

KTeePee · 09/01/2007 09:48

I think once you have breasts dungarees are a no-no! That funny "tunnel" effect you get below your breasts....

Anchovy · 09/01/2007 09:50

I think once you are older than 4 dungarees are a big no-no. Between the ages of 2 and 4 it is a delicate matter of judgement (possibly ok if a lot of going on the swings/slide required and still in nappies). Other than that, no.

redbullandbump · 09/01/2007 09:51

will try some on if they look good then maybe i will if not will run out the shop in shame

TrinityRhino · 09/01/2007 09:53

YES thay are fab, but only if they are purple

3rdTriMossTer · 09/01/2007 09:54

Well I think they look really comfy.

But this is posted in the "style" section so I suppose that's not the main concern!!

Cloudhopper · 09/01/2007 09:55

I would say for local NCT classes, slobbing around the house, shopping for organic food at the farmer's market - yes.

Going to high powered meetings at work - no.

TeeCee · 09/01/2007 09:56

I wore a pair when I was pregnant with Lottie. They did the rounds between me and all my mates when we were all pregnant. I loved them at the time. I did only wera them at home though. However I didn't and wouldn't have worn them with DD2.

KezzaG · 09/01/2007 09:56

I would say no, but what about dungaree dresses? I think they look really nice and you could wear it with thick black tights and a jumper underneath.

incy · 09/01/2007 11:29

No to dugarees and no to pinafore dresses. Saying that I am sure they are comfy so perhaps in the privacy of home !

As said earlier what about a nice wrap dress and boots. Lovely and comfy but perhaps a bit more stylish?

hippmummy · 09/01/2007 11:37

Depends what you wear it with I think.
I had dungarees, but for 2 summer pregnancies. I think they can look quite stylish with little vest tops underneath.
I'm not sure about winter, with jumpers and l/s tops though..

MrsBadger · 09/01/2007 11:56

I only have one sartorial rule - would I wear it if I wasn't pregnant?
Would you normally wear dungarees?

KathyMCMLXXII · 09/01/2007 12:02

Hugely useful for looking pregnant and thus inducing people to give up their seats on public transport, help you lift heavy shopping etc.
I lived in mine.

ShowOfHands · 09/01/2007 12:07

redbull, I've said it before on here and I'm about to say it again. I love my dungarees, pregnant or not. I don't care if the MN fashion police stone me to death, I will wear them with pride. I even have patchwork dungarees.

I am, however, a lentil-weaving festival-goer, so perhaps not entirely normal.

And, I ask again, why do we never see you on Antenatal??!!

geordiemacminx · 09/01/2007 12:18

My SIL gave me a pair a few months ago when I found out I was pregnant... found them at the weekend, thought I would try them on... oh how we laughed.... I looked like humpty dumpty... size 12, 24 weeks... So No!!!

Anchovy · 09/01/2007 12:21

I agree with Mrs Badger. I think aother sartorial rule is "does the ghastly woman in the Miriam Stoppard book wear them?" If so (and I'm sure she does), avoid them like the plague.

flamesparrow · 09/01/2007 12:56

Stepsisters looked good in theirs (very young though), I looked like some pregnant porn farm hand (nork issues )... Jelley is very slim (even pregnant I should think) so could probably pull it off.

mummyhill · 09/01/2007 13:04

I loved mine they were soo comfy.

Quootiepie · 09/01/2007 13:13

i'd say yes! Look great for day to day wear. BUt then, they look good on the model/manaquin but I know for a fact I'd look very dumpy in them. Try them on, and, if possible get a photo (on your phone or something) and look. I find that more reliable than a mirror. x
