Does anyone actually USE body lotion.

Judging by the big bag of out of date products I've chucked out tonight I obviously don't.

A couple of years ago I decided to cut down on the chemicals I put on my skin...so as these weren't natural...I just never used them

Not a lover of larding stuff on me after a bath.

I make my own face cream which is natural so would just use that.

So...are you like me..or do you use it?

Yes though I prefer coconut oil. I don't see the point of only moisturising your face - it's all skin.

IdaJones · 27/03/2016 12:07

I moisturise my face every morning and my hands each night and put the same lotion on my legs after shaving that i use to remove eye makeup.

MrsBertMacklin · 27/03/2016 12:08

Yes, Nuxe oil is my overnight elbow treatment (and my frizzy hair saviour).

Wolpertinger · 27/03/2016 12:12

No, never.

For everyone who finds their skin is dry without - try avoiding SLS/foaming shower gel. I didn't just have dry skin, I had actual ezcema and have completely cured it by just changing my shower gel. Aveeno is amazing, there are loads of others if you check the ingredients.

Your skin doesn't like a rich lather and it doesn't need it to be clean either. The companies who make the shower gel would love you to think you did though as then they can sell you two products - a shower gel AND a body lotion instead of just one.

I love Neutrogena lotion. Around £5 for 400mls- lovely light fresh smell, not overpowering, and absorbs really well. Without it I have chicken skin shins. Takes me 5 mins morning and night to do all over- focus on my thighs, bum and tum.

MamaLazarou · 27/03/2016 12:13

Yes, I usually use oil or lotion after a bath or shower every day. At the very least, I use the Nivea in-shower rinse-off moisturiser stuff, if I'm feeling lazy. I do my feet 2-3 times a week with foot cream, too.

I don't see the point of being one of those people who panic when they have a big event/beach holiday coming up and suddenly realise their skin is all rough and scaly and want to do something about it! Much better to maintain good skin all year round, IMO.

Ihatechoosingnames · 27/03/2016 12:13

I buy or get them as gifts, use them for a day or 2 then can't be arsed. I recently bought some body oil (Garnier ultimate beauty oil) and I've found I much prefer it, doesn't feel as heavy or sticky on my skin and more natural ingredients than lotions so I'll stick to oils now

Doobigetta · 27/03/2016 12:13

I use my own body butter every day. My skin would be scaly and horrible if I didn't, as it is it is lovely and soft.

NattyGolfJerkin · 27/03/2016 12:38

Most days.

I'm fussy though. Quite a few give me lumps, bumps, blocked pores & itches and so I prefer to buy my own rather than get presents of body creams.

I like kiehl's creme de corps (the body butter one in the jar), Neutrogena Deep Moisture, Body Shop Shea body butter, Soap & Glory Daily Smooth.

cosytoaster · 27/03/2016 13:03

Doobigetta - how do you make your own body butter?

rightknockered · 27/03/2016 14:13

i do very day. I find it makes a difference

Doobigetta · 27/03/2016 14:13

There are lots of recipes online, cosytoaster, but basically it's a mix of half oil and half butter (cocoa butter, Shea etc). You melt the butter then blend it with the oil, add in essential oils/fragrance oils, let it cool and then whip it up to the right consistency. It's a bit of a faff, but what you end up with is much richer than the ones you can buy. And obviously you can make it smell of whatever you fancy.

Annarose2014 · 27/03/2016 14:30

Yes every day.

BUT I'm very picky as I get dressed immediately and won't tolerate ones that take a few mins to sink in.

The Vaseline ones are by far the ones that sink in quickest - the spray version even more so. But the downside is that they're only for people who need basic levels of moisture. I had to find a stronger one and it's the Aveeno cream oil one. "Moisturises like a cream, sinks in like an oil!" And it actually does. It's lush. Shame it smells like marzipan

SecretWitch · 27/03/2016 14:37

I use it everyday but it is the brand of my choice.

BennyTheBall · 27/03/2016 14:41

I use body lotion every day without fail and have done since I was a teen.

MysticMugBug · 27/03/2016 14:47

I use baby lotion everywhere but my face and foof after a shower.

expatinscotland · 27/03/2016 14:55

Every day. I'm perimenopausal and the skin on my body is very dry.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/03/2016 15:01

Yes but glycerin based, mineral oil based makes me too hot to sleep.

littlejolee · 27/03/2016 15:06

Yes every day, but I use lovely LUSH stuff so it's all natural /fresh/ organic/etc and smells divine. My gross scaly ezcema prone skin literally cracks and bleeds if I skip a couple of days and that stings like a bastard. Sympathy for the skin keeps it looking (and feeling) acceptable. Less so in the summer though because I use a moisturising sun screen and the lack of dry central heating air means it's not so itchy/ flaky

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 27/03/2016 15:07

Yes every day. I like the smell of it, I like the feel of it and to be honest don't give a shit what anyone else thinks of it.

littlejolee · 27/03/2016 15:09

That being said, most gifts of body lotion I received get given away or put in the bin because the fake chemically scents in them give me hives :(

daisychain01 · 27/03/2016 15:14

I do quite a lot of sport, so plenty of outdoors weatherbeaten to buggery and swimming dries my skin. If I didn't moisturise I'd feel dry and cracked up.

I never ever use all that gunk-of-the-devil stuff in toiletry sets. Vile, and yes full of chemicals, the long list of stuff on the container tells me all i need to know.

Its either non perfumed E45 Oilatum, or Diprobase which my GP let's me have and it lasts about 6 months , a few drops of Bio Oil on my face, leave to soak in then tissue dabbed. Mainly at the weekend so it doesn't matter if I look a bit shine!

Tartyflette similar problems with back moisturising after swimming! I put a blob on the back of my hand to reach back, then go over and back for my shoulders. I look like a contortionist in the changing rooms.

tharsheblows · 27/03/2016 15:22

Yes, started about 10 years ago in one of those "I'm going to take care of myself" phases. Out of everything I started, it's the one I've kept doing because it makes such a difference to my skin, no more scaly legs or itchy arms! I think it's one of those things where if you have itchy dry skin without it, you do it and if you don't, you don't.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 27/03/2016 22:36

Tartyflette the spray Vaseline moisturiser works for my back, although you can't rub it in, so have to let it sink in/get dressed despite being a bit damp. You can do a really fine mist. It's not super strong though.

SuckingEggs · 27/03/2016 22:43

Twice a day usually (at least once) after shower/s.

I love it, feel horrible without it.
