Ballet Pumps you don't need to grip with your toes to keep on?

Not sure if it's only me who has this problem, but I find that any ballet pump requires me to claw my toes in order to keep the shoe on. This has caused corns (attractive I know) so I'm looking for a better ballet pump. I think this is because the grip (or top) of the cut of your basic ballerina is too loose for my foot although I have a wide foot and have tried many different sizes and styles - even the Shoe Therapy style that is suggested for pregnant women. Does anyone else have this problem and found a solution? Thoughts much appreciated!

ballet pumps are really silly shoes unless you are doing ballet. Not only do they look daft on adult women, they provide no support. And now we find they don't even fit!

shoes for everyday wear need to have a small heel (about half to one inch, not the fugly teetering-on-tiptoes-bum-out-twisted-calves thing that is now a 'low' heel) and stay on without effort. Y'know, like men are able to buy.

as decent smart shoes for women now appear to have been outlawed, anyone here who is able to get them made and in the shops gets my vote.

meantime I'm the one in trainers or ankle boots - you can get usable heels in those.

Why is it so hard to find flat, comfortable, supportive and pretty shoes? There's definitely a gap in the market for them!

I didn't think anyone wore ballet flats much outdoors

I wear them in the office but I have trainers for the commute. I also wear them if I'm literally just going to the local pub or restaurant, but that's it really.

I find they have no support, but I don't have any issues with clawing toes to keep them on. That kind of makes it sound like they are too big for the wearer?

I just bought some gel insoles, would that make them fit better/ better for my feet's wellbeing??

These are amazing I have found them go up to a size 39 in other places..

I bought a pair (size 39) at an independent children's shoe shop.

They are incredibly comfortable and have lasted really well. Lovely smooth soft leather inside.

Quick update: I bought the Lands End ones I linked to upthread and they are perfect. The wide fit is generous, and they don't fall off because of the elastic round the top.
