Advice please: can I wear these tan sandles with navy tights and the Boden Blackberry dress?

I'm trying to get more wear out of my navy and white striped Blackberry dress for work. Cooler weather proofing it with navy tights and... what on the feet?

Can I wear these? www.clarks.co.uk/p/26108742

I'm a 40ish teacher.

Thank you fashionistas! Flowers

OverAndAbove I love it - it does hang nicely.

V. flattering and not too short on the leg.

Allegretto yes - I didn't think the sandals were that bad...! (ok, ok, maybe not with tights...!)

Brogues?

boobashka · 13/03/2016 21:22

Hmm - not a brogues person Cataline

Please stop it with the tights.

The dresses are lovely, but for summer days with bare legs.

Sorry.

boobashka · 13/03/2016 21:25

But look!! A trendy person is wearing tights with her Lottas:

sorry - but those sandals are grim

if you must wear tights, would something like this work (i'm mid 40s, and have no sense of style btw)

sadsister4 · 13/03/2016 21:25

Actually...having said that...

I would probably wear the stripy dress with opaque navy tights and red Converse.

But then again, I dress like a loon, so...

how about this look?

hairymuffet · 13/03/2016 21:26
Hmm
boobashka · 13/03/2016 21:28

YES!!! I just found that pic Callie

Also this:

And she says, and I quote: "I can also see this dress looking nice for the fall with tights and a pair of oxford shoes." Oh that's brogues isn't it?

boobashka · 13/03/2016 21:32

sadsister I've got some navy SUpergas which I could try.

Thanks everyone for your help - think I'll get some Lotta's - like the idea of looking like a Swedish librarian. Perhaps not with the tights tho...

Are you wearing sleeveless dresses for work?
None of the teachers I know would wear sleeveless anything in work, it wouldn't be allowed in their schools.
Sandals and tights would be fine though! Grin

boobashka · 13/03/2016 21:35

Navy cardi on top to winterise...

No prob with sleeveless at our school, but still a bit chilly...

Actually giggled when I seen the sandals in op and that they were made out to be Granny sandals. My teenage dd has a nude patent pair almost identical from new look for a Christmas party.
Granny chic must be in.

boobashka · 13/03/2016 21:41

Bring on the Granny chic, I say! Then I can wear tights and sandals to my heart's content!

Dd wore them with dark tights with a pattern through them. She looked lovely actually. They don't have the open toe thing going on.

ConkersDontScareSpiders · 13/03/2016 21:53

I'd wear that dress with navy tights and either my brown flat Chelsea boots or a low heeled ankle boot.

Ememem84 · 13/03/2016 22:08

I have that dress! I wore it with tan knee boots and tights.

mintbiscuit · 13/03/2016 23:20

Rule of thumb for dark tights. They can be worn when there is an R in the month -except! - when there is a P.

HixieRice · 14/03/2016 07:15

Love the blackberry dress... how about these ankle boots ?

Advice please: can I wear these tan sandles with navy tights and the Boden Blackberry dress?
boobashka · 14/03/2016 07:33

Not sure the boots are 'me' Hixie.

I have flat black ankle boots - but would that clash with the navy?

I've got the Boden casual weekend dress and it only comes out to be worn on the hottest of days when I wear it with sandals and underwear. I find the neckline very low, and it shows a bit too much cleavage for my liking, so don't think you could wear it for teaching.
In either case, both dresses are for hot days when you need bare legs.

superbfairywren · 14/03/2016 09:03

I'd wear the first dress with navy tights and converse(or similar) or tan ankle boots, or brown brogues, with a navy or tan Cardigan. I see no problem with getting more wear out of a summer dress. I do it with navy summer dresses all the time!

boobashka · 14/03/2016 18:57

Thank you superb - I will try that.

Sali - I won't be wearing the casual weekend dress to school - too revealing as you say.

I'd wear that stripy dress with navy opaques and tan monk shoes (kind of a cross between a loafer and a brogue - mine are from Bertie), and a cardi, maybe a red one. I am in Scotland and go bare legged about three times a year, on a good summer.
