How many pairs of shoes do you have and what are they?

mamapants · 08/03/2016 16:21

Seem to amass a load of random shoes but then only wear the same three or four.
Next winter I will definitely be needing new boots but wondering what people consider essential for spring/summer?

Madbengalmum · 08/03/2016 18:53

AmberNectarine · 08/03/2016 19:02

Oh, a million.

NattyGolfJerkin · 08/03/2016 19:17

I have no idea. Maybe 30 pairs? Possibly more. I don't wear most of them.

banff82 · 08/03/2016 19:20

Lordy madbengal - that little lot probably comes to the value of my house!! You lucky lady.
I thought I was bad before I read these posts. I think for summer this year I have tan slouch ankle boots, beige slouch ankle boots, tan high wedge gladiators, gold converse high tops and black peep toe strappy flats. They should get me through most daytime stuff. Then for nights out, I've got 4 really high heeled strappy shoes in nude, navy, emerald and black. I have got more shoes than just these, for example suede knee high boots I keep on to in case they come back in - they did come back in this year but I much prefer my ankle boots these days.

Ankle boots are definitely my weakness - I bought 3 suede pairs in 1 week in October - all identical but in grey, black and tan.

Feawen · 08/03/2016 20:06

3 pairs of ballet flats (black, navy and pale pink)
2 pairs of mid-heeled almond toed work shoes (black and navy)
1 pair of knee high flat boots in patent oxblood
1 pair of knee high heeled boots in black suede
1 pair of high-heeled pale gold slingbacks
1 pair of high heeled black Mary janes
Trainers (gym only)
Flip-flops
1 pair of hideous zebra striped sparkly wellies (they're indestructible!)
3 pairs of distressingly expensive riding boots (but put in perspective by the £60 new shoes every 6 weeks the dratted animal requires).

...and 1 pair of patent cherry red curvaceous heels that make heads snap around when I walk by ;)

YaySirNaySir · 08/03/2016 20:15

3x summer sandals gold, black and white.
3 x flip flops silver, black.
1 black high wedges
1 high heeled nude
1 black mid heel sensible courts (rarely worn think funerals)
1 walking boots
2 x Hunter wellington's black, navy
1 pair riding boots
2 x Converse black and grey
1 black pumps
1 pair black Ugg boots
1 black pair flat ankle boots
3 pair high heeled ankle boots 2 black 1 oxblood
4 pair knee high boots 3 black, 1 tan

ItGoesWithoutSaying · 09/03/2016 09:10

I couldn't even begin to count Blush. Probably bought 6 pairs since Xmas!

All sorts: long boots (knee high and over knee), ankle boots (heeled and flat), DMs, Converse, Chelsea boots, brothel creepers, ballet pumps, flat sandals, wedge sandals, "going out heels" (Ruby Shoo, Irregular Choice, TUK), flip-flops, etc, etc. and in various materials and colours.

I think I have a problem!

whatdoIget · 09/03/2016 09:19

Black ankle boots
Black biker boots
Hiking boots
2 pairs of running shoes
Flat buckle up blue and black
Black trainers with pink pattern
Leopard print canvas slip ons
I think that's about it. More than I thought. None of them costing more than £30 though, mainly a lot less.

SalmonMaki · 09/03/2016 09:24

+70 pairs. I like my shoes.

SalmonMaki · 09/03/2016 09:26

Posted too soon.
Too many to list, several pairs of ankle boots, court shoes in different styles and colours, sandals, couple of pairs of knee length boots and a pair of wellies.

AmberNectarine · 09/03/2016 09:35

In all seriousness, well over 100. Basically a combination of trainers, ridiculous high end stiletto heels and a few pairs of flats.

RichardHead · 09/03/2016 09:43

Well over 100 including boots, trainers and sandals. I didn't think I was that unusual or even particularly a shoe person Blush

Believe it or not I'm also very frugal!

MarshaBrady · 09/03/2016 09:48

At Westfield for work. Higher end than I thought it would be for a mall.

Afishcalledchips · 09/03/2016 09:50

2 Pairs of converse (1 a cheap pair from matalan or somewhere equally shit)
1 pair of walking trainers (a good brand, lots of dog walking on hills)
2 pairs of flat (fake) leather boots for cold days
2 pairs low heeled ankle boots (never worn)
2 pairs of heels, similar style different colour (also never worn)
Wellies
2 pairs slippers (one should have been chucked out years ago!)
A pair of fake timberland boots which are really terrible but are so brilliant if it snows so I've kept them.

MarshaBrady · 09/03/2016 09:53

Bugger wrong thread

Afishcalledchips · 09/03/2016 09:55

Oops I didn't read the OP properly...

I haven't got any summer shoes really apart from the cons... I would really like some sandals that are comfy and not bulky/a bit stylish but such a thing doesn't seem to exist. Something you can walk around in all day but also look nice slightly dressed up.

ChildlessAndOK · 09/03/2016 10:00

Yay... U have (mainly) made me feel totally normal!! I have FAR to many shoes. My BFF has TWO pairs... TWO!!!! And one of those is a pair of trainers..!!
I have never counted them before. Now I might to see where I stand in this thread.
Thanksto all

Frostycake · 09/03/2016 10:23

Essential for summer would be:

  • flip flops
  • Vans or Stan Smiths
  • leather thong type flat sandals
  • nude leather/suede strappy sandals
  • bright coloured strappy sandals
  • bright 'statement' heels
  • wedges
  • neutral heels (nude or grey)
  • gladiator style sandals
  • two pairs of round toe ballet flats
  • two pairs of pointy toe flats
ample · 09/03/2016 10:23

4 x bally flats
2 x flip flops
2 x slippers
2 x wellies
1 x snow boot
1 x stiletto boots
3 x Docs
20+ converse

ample · 09/03/2016 10:26

Converse and (reef) flip flops get me through the summer.
I can't wear sandals but would say they are a season essential.
Summer is a short season. I get a lot of wear out of my boots Smile

Quickchangeup · 09/03/2016 10:28

i actually have no idea and now feel the need to waste my free morning going through all my shoes Hmm

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 09/03/2016 11:15

Do we only mention the brand/label if it's a 'good' or designer one then? Grin

LondonHuffyPuffy · 09/03/2016 11:22

I have absolutely no idea but despite regularly having shoe clear outs I currently probably have over 100 pairs, ranging from heels I will probably never wear again to Converse, ballet flats, flipflops, boots...

DH is just as bad though. Our tiny flat is overrun with clothes, shoes, bags and coats. It's ridiculous.
