Can any moisturiser be as good as clinique but cheaper? (Sorry done to death!)

Sorry I know this has been done a million times but I'm after specific recommendations for little ol' me! Im early 30s, baby face so not concerned with wrinkles, very dry skin which peels in winter if I don't treat it right!

Moisturisers I like are clinique turnaround daytime
Clinique moisture surge for nighttime
Benefit triple performing moisturing emulsion
Ysl top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow

I don't like anything tooo heavy during the day but it needs to be ultra moisturising. I like the satiny feel of the ones above :)

So, is there anyone out there who knows of a cut price version? (See my other thread - I'm horrified by my beauty spend!!!) Any luxury brand addicts managed to break the habit?

Japanese drugstore sunscreens (Biore etc) are great and not pricey.

SuperFlyHigh · 16/01/2016 10:30

Wolpertinger I just use soap and glory spf50 which usually has offers in Boots.

It's good for day to day for me and I put it on over a good moisturiser.

FrustratedFrugal · 16/01/2016 10:31

Another very decent budget sunscreen range is Neutrogena.

SuperFlyHigh · 16/01/2016 10:33

The thing I didn't like re Avene was their moisturiser with sunscreen. I found it ok not amazing and for the price would have preferred better!

I did like Vichy aqualia I think it is moisturiser again no sunscreen in it, more expensive but I'd buy it again over my Olay (will probably be my next purchase).

Nighttime I struggle with have been using soap and glory in the silver pot, ok again but not amazing, should probably be looking at anti wrinkle or moisturising more but my skin doesn't love super rich creams!

chumbler · 16/01/2016 14:21

Wow thanks all, lots of help

Wolpertinger I never even thought to change my benefit exfoliatior! I have two stockpiled Blush but actually years ago I used to use simple smoothing face scrub and loved it, its only £3 so I will definitely go back to it!

I wonder what else I could save on...?? Maybe it's worth swapping my night cream?? Or shall I keep to having some luxuries Grin

Well what are all your products? Grin

Given you have the Benefit stockpiled you should use it up but a glycolic product is going to generally be far better than anything that relies on actual scrubbing. So I am not voting in favour of the Simple face scrub!

Leigh1980 · 16/01/2016 14:39

Nivea Creme in blue tin. The best I've used.

chumbler · 16/01/2016 15:32

Aah but I love the scrubbing feel! And I liked simple before, suited me really well.

Hmmm well I'm saving on shower gel by using up my unwanted bath cream instead, I'm using up conditioners as shaving gel. I don't really use much else, but I will need a new blusher soon Grin

Have tried loads from £2 to £120 keep coming back to Clinique however when I was laid up in hospital with no make up bag a friend nipped out and came back with Aldi think its called Lacura or similar cheap as chips and felt really nice very like my Clinique DD.

Always planned to investigate range but don't live near an Aldi

Wolpertinger · 16/01/2016 16:35

The scrubbing is pschological. It's why they sell it to us and make more and more products with it despite the fact it does more or less sod all.

Think about it - if it really worked those particles would be ripping skin cells off. Yes they'll get the dead ones but they'll tear at the healthy ones too.

Instead off gently lifting off dead ones that want to come off any way at a lovely healthy pH for your skin.

JemimaMuddleDuck · 16/01/2016 23:15

Simple regeneration here. Always on offer sometimes as low as £2.50 so as cheap as chips. SPF 15 and non-perfumed. Creamy but not at all sticky. Love it!

Silverpinkswirls · 17/01/2016 01:51

I alternate between various moisturisers but my favourites are Clinique moisture surge and loreal youth code night.

Silverpinkswirls · 17/01/2016 01:53

Last night I used superdrug vit e serum followed by superdrug vit e intense moisture cream. Tonight I'm using loreal youth code. Tomorrow I might use clarins lotus oil or waitrose pure facial oil, depending on how my skin feels.

PrimalLass · 17/01/2016 17:41

I've found the overnight mask cheaper here.

My skin is so sensitive that the other moisturisers here just hurt it.

PrimalLass · 17/01/2016 17:47

Loads on Ebay for under £20.

chumbler · 17/01/2016 18:09

Oh my goodness I never thought to look at other sites to buy clinique!!! But I do looooove bonus time!! I reckon I have enough face stuff go last me until at least September so am going to try really hard not to buy anything at all

Sorry that seemed like my question was pointless!! But this thread has made me see what a huge waste of money it all is, so when I do eventually run out of my stockpile i will definitely use these ideas :)

OP posts:
PrimalLass · 17/01/2016 18:18

I love the Bonus Times too, and there is one on the Clinique website at the mo, but I can't justify spending £40 on cream plus something else when I can get it for £20 on ebay.

DiscoDancer · 17/01/2016 21:35

Marking Place to try some of these products!

dreamerlemur · 18/01/2016 00:30

Lidl Q10 or Nuxe Dry Oil, a wonder product!

shebird · 18/01/2016 09:15

Ive just started using Lidl Q10 night cream and it seems to be doing the job. Also love Simple products - face wash is gentle and not drying like some others.

PrimalLass · 18/01/2016 09:31

The Lidl Q10 stuff makes my face sore and red, which is most annoying.

PolovesTubbyCustard · 18/01/2016 10:39

Nivea Soft or The Green People Day Solution when it is sunnier outside.

I have a relatively oily skin, which is drier now, with a few wrinkles and crinkles.

chumbler · 11/02/2016 16:08

Ok so after thorough testing I can report lidl is not good enough for my dry skin. I will try garnier next as sure I tried a sample once and liked it. Wish me luck!

I use the Aldi face cream products, love them and they are an amazing bargain. I think everyone else has cottoned on though as they always seem to be sold out at my local one. Sad
