it's a great dress! you could put some wild flowers in your hair too like a garland

blueamema · 18/12/2006 20:47

Wow.... lovely. my sis-in-law got married in something very similar but it was deep red!

Will future hub be wearing something to compliment you?

Love the idea of changing thread to match red of flower girls dresses. Will you do that yourself though? sounds like a big job!!

dabihp · 18/12/2006 20:52

no would get dress maker to do...

dp looks wonderful in a suit so just a suit with same colour tie as flowergirl dresses...

dabihp · 18/12/2006 20:55

dabihp

I'll try but i not mater links yet.

It wasn't made for me, but i had claret embroidery on the bodice.

It was the only dress i tried on.

Stunning dress and so refreshing compared to what is around in the shops. My wedding dress was similar, but with flowers around the neckline rather than embroidery, and it was raw silk rather than chiffon. Alas, I would need an empire line frock these days!

I too had my hair down (curls rather than ringlets) and in my hair I had a circlet of roses, September flower and ivy. And as it was an Autumn wedding, and because of something I read in a 'Language of Flowers' book, I had ears of corn in my bouquet. Wasn't intentionally to do with fertility but we do have three dcs!

Aderyn · 18/12/2006 21:25

I think that is a beautiful dress.

Have you tried any dresses on yet, to see what suits you? When I got married I thought I wanted to wear a floaty kind of dress but when I tried some on, I ended up looking like I was wearing a nightie.

I'm not saying that dress looks anything like a nightie.... but sometimes the dresses we love the look of aren't the ones that look the best on us, so try some on that are similar before you get one made.

dabihp · 19/12/2006 08:34

not, havent tried any on yet. appreciate what you said though.

Hi All,
I found your topic whilst viewing my site statistics, just a couple of things I would like to mention about the Celtic Star dress in regards to your comments:-
The dress does give a lot of support and is acutally very heavily boned with steel boning, it is just invisable because it is attached to the lining and interfacing.
Even so, the dress can be made in another, stiffer fabric if needed.

The embroidery is done by myself, and so can be done in any colour you like to complpiment your scheme.

I would ask that you do not take this design to another dressmaker, as it is under copyright and should not be re-created or copied by any body other than myself.

There are many options I provide in regards to customising the dress to be perfect for the bride, so please contact me directly via the website if you have any questions about this dress.

Hope this is of some help!

Emily (Rivendell Bridal)

Would second Aderyn's suggestion of trying different styles on. I ended up with something entirely different. My first choice of dress just didm't suit me at all

Thalia · 19/12/2006 20:49

I like the style but personally I had the following dress and I think it looks a bit more well made. I absolutely loved mine. Good luck. The link is below, it is a Ginnis dress style number G901.

dabihp · 19/12/2006 21:08

OMG! hello Rivendellbridal (Emily)

I respect your wishes regarding a dressmaker etc.. the reason i suggested it was cos your most beautiful dress in the whole world is quite expensive! If you get loads of traffic from mumsnet and subsequent sales and would like to thank me by giving me a freeby then that would be wonderful

I had a wedding dress pattern in a similar style! If only I knew where I put the damn thing - I ended up with a completely different style because I tried one on in that style and didnt suit it. Will have a look online for you!

SchneeBallFight · 20/12/2006 08:24

LemonTart · 20/12/2006 08:30

It is gorgeous. Have passed on the website name to a friends getting married next September dabihp. She is tall and willowy with flowing golden locks and would look fantastic in it or similar
Maybe if we refer enough people and bump the traffic Emily could cutyou a deal? Power of mumsnet and all that

I went to a wedding in a gorgeous parish curch in the country where the bride wore a dress like the one you like - sh looked SO beautiful and feminine! She had a bouquet made with wild flowers which was gorgeous but also she had a long cape made with velvet to go with the dress to keep her warm as they set off for their honeymoon...

Beautiful dress, you'll look stunning!
