DS1 is sporty and this cold weather is making a mess of his lips. He has various balms and vaseline and puts them on regularly but we haven't found one to help prevent this.

It's getting him down as they look such a mess.

Best ones to prevent or to fix it?

Pink Germolene Its so hard to find these days - whenever I spot a tube I grab a few - that stuff is bloody marvellous for everything and would be great for dry lips.

Someone mentioned zinc supplements but can I suggest Vitamin B supplement too, or up his B intake (Marmite - yum nut not to everyone's taste) This is what finally cured me of dry lips.

I've been battling sore lips for a few months - eventually went to GP - I was having an allergic reaction to the lip salve! A month of hydrocortisone cream, and I'm back to normal

My DS has exactly the same problem (lip lickers dermatitis according to his pediatrician!) and Aquaphor is the only thing that seems to work.
He applies a thick coat morning and night with extra top ups before any outside sporting events. He still has very slight redness after a windy day but the Aquaphor is a huge improvement over Vaseline and all the lip balms we tried.

The only one that works for me is original Lipsyl in the blue tube

Nivea care & repair in a blue green tube, best ever.

Definitely The Carmel ones that come in a tube. X

Vicks vapour rub before bed

It's amazing

I have never had dry sore cracked lips since I gave up using products completely. All these mentioned up thread just made things better for a day or so. And then worse.

Try just giving up the products for a couple of weeks. I've had over 10yrs now with not a problem.

I've just bought the Norwegian formula one. It's very good.
