I've got chunky calves...b*gger it.

I've looked at Duo but nothing I want there. Anyone else got any gorgeous brown boots that you can wear with jeans or a skirt that will fit someone with calves like a rugby player?! I don't mind straps or buckles on them but I don't want a high heel.

Please help!

If you have chunky calves then you have to paint your legs brown

It is your only option

brimfull · 10/12/2006 19:32

oooh oooh ! >

I bought a lovely pair in clarks today (really!!)
They are brown with a crepe sole and a really nice low heel about 5cm.
I have quite wide calves and they fit me.

Hang on will try a link.

WanderingTroll · 10/12/2006 19:34

I think Jesus speaks the truth.

To ensure waterproofing, you must use creosote.

And don't forget to polish.

brimfull · 10/12/2006 19:36

bigger can't do link on clarks site.

they're called olamide in the casual boots section.

They are really comfy.

Carmenere · 10/12/2006 19:38

Actually they are lovely ggirl, how wide are your calves as mine are huge but I would love them!

brimfull · 10/12/2006 19:42

40cms

binkacat · 10/12/2006 19:42

I can never wear Clarks boots unless they are one of their special wide range. I would also love some long, brown boots but know I wouldn't be able to wear them.
Actually I was in Clarks yesterday and couldn't zip up any boots and I tried every pair in the shop More shops ought to do wider boots - too many years of horseriding I reckon have given me huge calf muscles

brimfull · 10/12/2006 19:46

USAUKMum · 10/12/2006 19:48

I got these Wrangler boots,
Wrangler Clover

The big long vent down the side are the only ones to fit me!! I have one really large calf, and the other small (due to spinal injury) but these actually fit both!

danceswithreindeer · 10/12/2006 19:53

They are lovely ggirl! I want these....
lush
Under the section, casual knee boots - TIMBERLAND TIMBERLAND LEXISS TALL 150420 (can't do a proper link here either)

A friend has them and she says she has room round the leg in them so I'm hoping they might fit (please, please don't let me have to try and zip them up in front of shop assistant and have the humiliation of the zip sticking half way....again)

danceswithreindeer · 10/12/2006 19:57

Love the wranglers! I have a pair of Evans long boots but they keep slipping down.
I want to go and try on the timberland ones but I have to take the children and you know how they just LOVE shoe shopping....NOT.

OP posts:
brimfull · 10/12/2006 20:00

these ones? yes they're lovely

danceswithreindeer · 10/12/2006 20:01

Now you're just showing off! Yes those ones! Do you think they would look ok with a skirt?

OP posts:
brimfull · 10/12/2006 20:02

As for the salesgirls,I always look for the chunky ones ,actualy spoke to a skinny one the other day about my calves and she said it was a really common problem .

brimfull · 10/12/2006 20:03

Yes as long as it's quite casual they would look great!

danceswithreindeer · 10/12/2006 20:04

Last shop I was in had 21yr old (approx) bloke assistant, he tried to look sympathetic but his hormones were against him

OP posts:
brimfull · 10/12/2006 20:16

I need to find the skirt now that I've got the boots!

snowleopard · 10/12/2006 20:31

This only works if your calves are only slightly too big for the boots, but have you tried lying on your back and sticking your feet in the air to put them on? The calf flesh kind of rides up your leg and it's much easier - this is how I get my boots on... (obviously looks odd in a shop. But I don't care - just don't wear a skirt.)

brimfull · 10/12/2006 20:33

Also if you scrunch the boot down while doing up,then pull up when zip is doneup....god that sound confusing

USAUKMum · 11/12/2006 12:27

I tried the Timberland ones on -- and didn't fit mine. [sadd]
