I'll be 22 weeks pregnant so planning on wearing a sparkly knitted tunic in bigger size, maybe with leggings or a skirt if I decide to look a bit more formal. I'll probably change into the leggings after my meal!

Neck maybe?

Judydreamsofhorses · 13/11/2015 12:25

We're hosting this year, but DP will be doing the cooking while I waft about being glam. I'll either be in jeans and a sparkly top (probably a jumper) or a dress. As soon as the guests go, pyjamas on.

SisterNancySinatra · 13/11/2015 12:34

Do people who wear their pyjamas all day at Xmas actually shower ? Shower then pyjamas back on ?

orlakielyimnot · 13/11/2015 12:39

This will be our first Christmas to ourselves just the two of us. I imagine I will have a shower and then put on fresh pj's and stay like that for most of not all of the day!

Whatabout · 13/11/2015 15:46

I've never understood the pyjamas all day thing, if I am ill and in bed or just had a baby maybe, but otherwise I just feel yuck even with a shower. I like to mark Christmas day with a nice but comfy outfit and I like the kids to look nice. But that's what I enjoy, I want Christmas to feel special and a bit of a party.

lavendersun · 13/11/2015 16:00

We did pyjamas all day once. My horrid MIL bought everyone (15 people) Christmas pyjamas and insisted that we all wore them.

If it is remotely decent weather our day will involve putting our cycling clothes on at 11 ish so pyjamas til then, showers when we get back.

HoneysuckleAndJasmine · 13/11/2015 20:47

A sixties style yellow and black dress. I'm hosting dmum and step dad and I want to look nice. No waistband though so plenty of space for chocolate and turkey.

I also have a Boxing Day dress of a similar girth expanding style. I'm hosting again - more family.

Actually i have planned a few of my festive period outfits as it gives me a bit of light relief from the family politics and food/present buying. Not buying anything new though.

DamsonInDistress · 13/11/2015 21:10

Black sparkly leggings and a long grey Christmas jumper with leaping deer on it in silver sequins. Relatively tasteful as xmas jumpers go, at least I think so!

CainInThePunting · 13/11/2015 21:10

We wear whatever we pull on first thing for opening presents and having that first glass of champers but then we get showered and dressed as per the order of the day.
If we are at home we tend to go out for a post Christmas lunch walk so clothes will be comfy and warm. If we are going out for lunch outfits will be more dressy. If we are going out in the evening we will get changed appropriately.
It all just depends doesn't it? There is no etiquette issue. It's just what you fancy and what is practical for the day for you.

BlueEyedWonder · 13/11/2015 21:29

There'll just be me, DH, our 2 DC and my in laws on Xmas day.
We cook the Turkey on Xmas eve to cut down work on Xmas day.
We always dress up. DC often wear Xmas jumpers.
This year I have a few options in mind:

  1. Zara floral midi dress
  2. Topshop dark gold pleated midi skirt and 3/4 sleeve cream cashmere skinny jumper
  3. M&S faux leather wrap skirt and oatmeal merino jumper.
cashmerecardigans · 13/11/2015 21:39

I love dressing up for Christmas! I've got a fab black velvet midi dress that I've worn for a couple of years and last year I wore a green sequinned Topshop dress all day - I do lunch wearing said frocks too. I love to feel special on the day - PJs or leggings wouldn't do it for me Smile

BennyPoo · 13/11/2015 22:05

We always have a houseful. There will be 12-15 of us ( even though I hate cooking) and we all dress up and have a lovely time! I couldn't imagine not putting on my glad rags, and would be disappointed if our guests didn't make the effort. Champagne in pyjamas? Not for me...

Oly5 · 13/11/2015 22:17

I'm from the north and we dress up for Xmas day! Smart jeans and sparkly top for me, definitely make up

TriJo · 13/11/2015 22:25

Will be almost 28 weeks pregnant - comfort is king! Will most likely wear a jersey dress, cardi, leggings and flat boots.

JaceLancs · 13/11/2015 22:37

Sweater dress in black red and cream, with black woolly tights
Black ankle boots later when we go out visiting wider family

CointreauVersial · 13/11/2015 23:19

Another one dressing up for Christmas Day - I can't imagine staying in PJs. Christmas Day always involves extended family, and it's a good excuse to put on a bit of sparkle and make the day a bit special.

Nothing too tight or warm, though! I have a nice pleather skirt and a sparkly Warehouse jumper, which are probably top of the list at the moment. Or a black and white lace dress from Mango. Or coated skinny jeans and a silk top....

Twinklestein · 14/11/2015 15:39

This Ted Baker dress with black glitter tights and block heel courts.

what are you wearing Christmas day?
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 14/11/2015 15:51

I'm the opposite of you Bennypoo, I'd be disappointed if I was expected to dress up in smart clothes. There's no way I'd stay in PJs, but definitely prefer to keep things comfy and relaxed, which I never am in dressy clothes. It's bad enough having to do it for work parties.

PetiteBateau · 14/11/2015 23:55

It'll be just me, dd & dp, at home. I have no idea what any of us will be wearing!! What an odd idea!! Grin

MamaDuckling · 15/11/2015 00:01

I will literally be 40 wks pregnant. Desperately want something glam but will settle for my black top shop maternity dress with a sparkly necklace... Hadn't thought of sparkly tights until I saw this thread though!

Ninacarter77 · 15/11/2015 09:22
