I'll be 22 weeks pregnant so planning on wearing a sparkly knitted tunic in bigger size, maybe with leggings or a skirt if I decide to look a bit more formal. I'll probably change into the leggings after my meal!

Swimming costume! Well for some of it anyway! Staying in a lovely self catering place with access to a hotel spa and pool. Going to be swimming xmas day then a big lunch. Lovely!

ShiftyDisco · 13/11/2015 08:04

We'll be at PIL, so thermals and the warmest jumper I can find probably!

Paperblank · 13/11/2015 08:11

Christmas Jumper! And either denim skirt or jeans. I'll be 30 weeks pregnant so comfort over style.

My mum will wear her hideous Christmas Day slippers Grin

I'm getting married a few days before, so will be in pjs for at least two weeks after while I recover.Grin
Usually I wear a jumper dress and woolly tights for visiting family and dinner.

Potterwolfie · 13/11/2015 08:30

Bought a new Christmas apron from Home Bargains as will be cooking, and a top with a little sparkly collar thing for when all things greasy and spitty are safely in the oven.

MamaLazarou · 13/11/2015 08:34

Jimjams

gingerboy1912 · 13/11/2015 08:34

Something cool and comfy. I've never bought a Xmas day outfit.

PennyHasNoSurname · 13/11/2015 08:35

Ive bought a lovely loose tunic dress in a dark blue tartan. I got it for a different occasion but actually I think it will work on christmas day too. I might wear it with leggings and slippers rather than tights and shoes though Grin

Zorion · 13/11/2015 08:41

I bought a ridiculous cutwork leather midi skirt I'm regretting with the intention of wearing it on Christmas day with a lovely gold sparkly lightweight jumper thing tucked in...

Now I'm thinking the gold sparkly jumper over boyfriend jeans..

Starting xmas morning at my familys (who get dressed up) then the rest of the day with DHs (who don't!)

Alligatorpie · 13/11/2015 08:41

Swimsuit and sarong. Will be sitting in a beach in Thailand.

yomellamoHelly · 13/11/2015 08:44

Christmas jumpers all round here. Have just bought them for this year (dh who wanted a more tasteful one and for eldest. Expect youngest will be wearing her latest dress-up outfit that she'll be getting though.

MABS · 13/11/2015 08:53

SquadGoals · 13/11/2015 08:57

grumpyoldgitagain · 13/11/2015 09:03

what are you wearing Christmas day?
SirChenjin · 13/11/2015 09:05

I wear the same festive gown every year

what are you wearing Christmas day?
jamtartandcustard · 13/11/2015 09:22

It would usually be jeans and a sparkly top. I love sparkles so I'll take any excuse to wear some. However this Christmas I could possibly be 41 weeks pregnant, or I could possibly have a newborn so it will be whatever fits on the day. I could also possibly be in labour ...... :-/

Autumn2014 · 13/11/2015 09:26

wizardoftoss I like the opportunity to dress up, even if it is low key sparkly knitwear! I don't have a busy social life, so it's nice to have an opportunity to wear something special and get in the festive spirit. Your outfit sounds lovely

purpledaisy I love the description of your dress with the forest pattern.

paperback I wore a knitted long sleeved swing dress last year with a sparkly necklace and would liked to wear it again if I wasn't pregnant this year. My outfit sounds similar to yours this year. Are you getting a maternity jumper or are you managing with normal wear?

Slightly jealous of the posters who said that they are wearing a bikini on the beach!

Dressing up for Xmas dinner is definitely A Thing with my family. I love it. That said, I won't normally buy anything special, just find a nice outfit from my wardrobe. No idea about this year. Last year I wore a short-ish fit-and-flare red dress with seamed tights and heels. Red Xmas bauble earrings.

DH's family don't dress up. We only do Xmas with one or the other so I don't have the dilemma of what to wear for both. However, I do find it hard to dress down on the years we go there.

SheGotAllDaMoves · 13/11/2015 09:27

I'm the host so I usually dress comfortably and practically given I'm mass catering.

It's traditional that I sport a vulgar apron ( my fave being the one of Michael Angelo's David - just the torso ).

BiddyPop · 13/11/2015 09:47

I don't know yet. I bought a new woolen dress (navy) in M&S on the 20% off a few weeks back, that might get it's first airing then. I might wear jeans (although we are visiting both my DPs and DMIL so that won't go down great). I have a few other dresses and trousers outfits that would work nicely.

We go to mass in the morning, and have a load of visiting to do so we need to be warmly and nicely dressed. But I don't go over the top either - some years I have something new, but lots of years I don't. And the weather always has a bearing on it too. I probably will have my good black DKNY wool coat, and my black felt hat, rather than my all-weather coat for commuting (which is still very nice, Ilse Jacobsen). And I will probably wear boots rather than heels. I think I will keep the battery lights flashing jewellery for the kitsch Christmas party up the road the weekend before though, and keep it tasteful for Christmas (my pearls, or my nice matching silver necklace and bracelet). Definitely full (natural look) makeup and nicely done hair.

But when we are back home a few days later, I will have at least 1 day where I slob around in lounging PJs or a nice tracksuit, and do absolutely nothing but read my book by the fire. MUCH needed this year.

Paperblank · 13/11/2015 11:32

Autumn I am buying a jumper in a bigger size than normal and Tesco have got loads of choice atm. I don't mind Christmas jumpers being baggy so that helps and as DH and I are a similar size we tend to pool jumpers. We've got quite a selection now but as I do like a new outfit for Christmas it would be rude not to to add to our collection Xmas Grin.

MyBootsAreMuddy · 13/11/2015 11:51

Going home for Christmas this yearGrin so will be 'sunday best' first thing for church, then change into swimming togs, boardies and rash top. Then its down the path at bottom of the garden to the beach for a barbie lunch followed by surfing, cricket and touch (rugby).
The perfect Kiwi Chrismas. We would usually have a Hangi (traditional Maori way of cooking) but saving that for a New Years party my brothers are organising.
