Yay or nay to these boots?

I normally find it quite easy to choose footwear! As the depth of my collection shows (literally far too deep in the bottom of two double wardrobes)
These are from Dune which I got cheaply in TKMaxx, however I'm worried there's a whiff of frumpy about them
I feel they come too high up around ankle to wear with skirts or dresses, although fit closely enough, which is a look I prefer
So would only be work with leggings and skinnies
If it makes any difference I'm 51, size 14-16, with heavy thighs, and 5'4" tall

Yay or nay to these boots?

Forgot to say they have zips at both sides, which is a style I've had before, but the last pair were suede and lower cut at the front

Nay.

AnyoneButAndre · 09/11/2015 23:17

Nay

Kingfisherfree · 09/11/2015 23:18

Nay

mellymoo22 · 09/11/2015 23:19

Yay, I like them

JaceLancs · 09/11/2015 23:21

My instincts were right then - the fact I even asked you lot and didn't have them straight on my feet should have been my indicator ??
It's the footwear equivalent of the wardrobe door test!

They're just really bland.

They're the boots of someone who isn't really sure they know what they like.

They're safe.

And frumpy as all get out.

If you don't care about how you look, and they're comfy, go for it. if you do care how you look (and I think you do, or you wouldn't be posting) then send them back, and get lovely boots.

There's more than a whiff of frumpy...

ShatnersBassoon · 10/11/2015 07:11

They're what an older woman would wear for line dancing. Entry-level cowboy boots, built for comfort.

WipsGlitter · 10/11/2015 07:11

Frumpy. Verging on mum boot.

Krampus · 10/11/2015 10:49

Very dull.

mellymoo22 · 10/11/2015 19:02

Jace, I think a pic of you wearing them would be better, I still like them Grinx

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/11/2015 19:28

They are fine. They are just plain, inoffensive, presumably comfortable black books for schlepping around in. You're not likely to set the fashion world on fire in them but neither are you likely to scare small children or be inappropriately shod for most day to day occasions.

Grin

How did I manage to kill this?!

Madbengalmum · 10/11/2015 21:09

Mum boots, in fact my mum has just bought some like them.

Scarletforya · 10/11/2015 21:12

Mum boots. Sorry!

WanderingTrolley1 · 10/11/2015 21:13

Nay.

tictactoad · 10/11/2015 21:16

Nay. Mum boots.

Twinklestein · 10/11/2015 21:35

I like them OP. I like the toes & the heels. Good 60s vibe which is in right now. They'll look good with skinnies and under the new flares. At the very least they are inoffensive.

Don't take style advice from people who wear Boden and Clark's.

They will get you into some godawful fugly clumpy thing.

Yseulte · 10/11/2015 21:43

Theyre fine. They're classic Chelsea boots.

DearFox · 10/11/2015 21:44

The most borinng boots ever.

myknickersknackersknockers · 10/11/2015 23:20

I think they are ok. Not exciting but fine.

Nettletheelf · 10/11/2015 23:34

Spot on, Shatnersbassoon. My mum (83) has some just like that for line dancing. She likes them because they look 'a bit cowgirl' and don't irritate her ingrowing toenails.

Orthopaedic mum cowboy boots for pensioners. Send them back, OP!!!
