Glamourous but comfortable shoes

hollyisalovelyname · 25/10/2015 08:17

Do they exist.
I'm looking for black and navy shoes that are comfortable but not flat.
I want a 'dressy' pair for 'going out'.
Any suggestions please.

Ah... so they don't exist.

Ah, I was hoping to finally get comfortable, but not too bad looking shoes.

Answer comes there none, I think sums it up. Sigh.

It depends what you mean by glamorous and how comfortable they need to be. I am rediscovering my inner mojo now that the kids are old enough to dress themselves of a morning.

I like

-block heels sometimes for comfort

-Gabor

-Geox

-Chie Mihara in the sale or reduced off Amazon

  • M and S rather vertiginous ankle boots with lovely comfy memory foam inside

-have just ordered more M and S boots with fringing as my nod to trends

  • have also just ordered some Edelman Ollies which the Vogue girls say are comfy - they are "inspired" by studded Valentino heels
  • and some Kat Maconie patent heels - I like patent

you might however be more on trend than me or want something different?

Hello!
I like Ara or Jenny (sub brand of ara) shoes for work. They're made in Germany and come in normal or extra width fittings, but are more pump-style than high heeled.ara-shoes..com

HPsauciness · 26/10/2015 10:50

I like Clarks and have several pairs of patent, snakeskin effect and so on court shoes from there, as they are not too high, have a comfort thingy in the sole and I can wear them for work.

Having said that, a quick look online tells me there's nothing I covet right at this moment on there.

But- have a browse in court shoes, plus there is a 50% off sale (and you can get a 20% off voucher if you don't like the sale shoes, just google it).

Crosbybeach · 26/10/2015 10:53

Clarks does have some really comfortable ones that have the extra padding in the sole, decent heels and good colours.

chorus tempo are good.

They aren't ultra glamorous but they have a heel...

AliceInUnderpants · 26/10/2015 11:51

I have a pair of Reiker boots I bought from Next which are incredibly comfortable. I don't know what their heels are like, but they might be worth a look.

CMOTDibbler · 26/10/2015 11:55

My favourite shoes are Clarks wedges with the soft comfort bit under the ball of your foot. I have three pairs - two with liberty print on the heels, one black suede and snakeskin

Autumn2014 · 26/10/2015 12:12

I find anything with an ankle strap helps me as it keeps me more stable. I can manage heels if I have a strap across the width of my foot.

herecomesthsun · 26/10/2015 12:17

On the other hand I have a high arch so I would be concerned about straps (very on trend) digging in.

Shoes with heels and laced across the front ghillie-style are still about and could look glam maybe - if you find some comfortable for you.

KatharineClifton · 26/10/2015 12:27

My DD has some Hush Puppies Vivianna boots which she says are very comfortable, and the reviews are good. Whether they are to your taste I obviously don't know.

shovetheholly · 26/10/2015 12:30

OK, so if you tell anyone about this I will have to kill you... but whispers I have a pair of Hotter 'Lauren' wedge heels - kind of Mary Jane style with a large buckle, but high - and they are comfy as hell. I walked 6 miles in them with no issues the other day (3 miles to the library, 3 miles back).

I am now bracing myself to tell my mother that yes, she was actually right all along and I should have got a pair years ago.

shovetheholly · 26/10/2015 12:34

Also: top notch 60s style knee-high tight boots with platform soles and large area of heel (i.e. not a pointy end) are surprisingly comfortable. I have a pair of Eccos, very similar to the Sculptured ones in the current range but in suede and they're brilliant! Fit like a glove around the calf too.

SheSparkles · 26/10/2015 12:38

I'm also looking for comfy but dressy shoes but have the bonus of having wide feet-it's the holy grail!

KatharineClifton · 26/10/2015 12:48

SheSparkles my DD is the same. Luckily those HP boots are available in extra wide, but only from the flipping HP site where they cost more. Do you have any recommendations for others?

ChinUpChestOut · 26/10/2015 12:55

I read about Sargossa shoes in the papers. Meant to be really comfortable - they certainly look like something I would buy if I was going to dress up if I had a social life.

LeaveMyWingsBehindMe · 26/10/2015 13:08

I second Gabor. I have some that have a mid height quite chunky heel but they do look quite glamorous. Geox have some lovely ones as well but for some reason they never seem to fit me well.

customercare · 26/10/2015 15:16

Try Clarks court shoes. They come in all widths and are seriously comfortable, even the pointy ones.

MrsMolesworth · 26/10/2015 15:31

I have some Clarks heels (high court shoes) that are incredibly comfortable because of the padded sole. You forget you're wearing them. Only time they hurt is if I walk more than a mile home in them after a night out.

EmNetta · 26/10/2015 17:16

Calla shoes have recently set up a company to provide exactly these shoes, but I was disappointed to see pictures of this winter's styles, due soon, as most of them seem to be strappy sandals or peep-toes, and probably a bit cold/wet for winter. We can only hope their designs improve with time
, as there is still a gap in the market locally.

specialsubject · 26/10/2015 17:17

they've been pretty much outlawed now that 'low heel' is considered as two inches. Look at all the slebs teetering on tiptoe and duck-walking about. It's horrible.

got hopeful looking at those hotter ones - but far higher than I can tolerate. Pity - that design with a usable heel would look good. They have got lower heeled ones but clumpy as.

I thought I'd found some in shoezone but despite being labelled 'size 42' they were about a 39. if you've got bigger feet you are even more stuck.

elegant one inch tapered heels are a thing of the past.

herecomesthsun · 26/10/2015 18:32

ok, Boden have boots that are a) covered over b) lowish heel c) gloriously impractical/ glam rock materials. Have not tried on so cannot vouch for comfort but to me they look nice!

Depends on what you like, but I've always found Irregular Choice quite comfy and they are quite glam!

cheapskatemum · 26/10/2015 21:27

Another vote for M&S here, I think they do some styles in a wider fitting too, SheSparkles

HelsBels3000 · 26/10/2015 21:39

M&S Insolia - the most comfortable heels I have ever owned (and I have hundreds of pairs of shoes!)
