curly hair - silicon free products that don't cost the earth?

I usually use deva care products which I can buy on Amazon, but they're pretty pricey sometimes, so before I go and stock up again I was looking for recommendations for any silicon free products (shampoo, conditioner, styling product) that were easier to buy and didn't cost a small fortune!

I've tried the body shop rainforest range before and didn't get on with it at all. There seems to be a few new ranges out since I last looked, so any MN faves that are worth a try?

I use tresseme naturals or boots yes to carrots conditioners. I use boots curl creme or Eco gel (from Amazon) as product.

Watching with interest as on my last bottles of Naked shampoo and conditioner.

Boots are the fuckers who killed Naked so I'd like to avoid buying replacement products from them.

I really like the Giovanni and Shea Moisture ranges. Not cheap, but not as much as Deva I think. You can get them from Amazon and the British Curlies website

Tresemme naturals conditioner (cheap) and Aveda curl cream (less cheap) are my current best combo. The Aveda cream is amazing.

The new garnier ultimate blends shampoo and conditioner are silicone free. So is the coconut oil serum they make. Love them

Thanks everyone. I will check these out. I have used jessicurl from the British curlies website before which I really liked, but I hated having to pay the delivery charge.

Just a wee but fed up having to pay £50+ when I need to stock up and I could do with cutting back on some spending right now.

Palmers have a shea hair range for curly hair, silicone-free as far as I know.

Inecto Coconut Naturals range is cheap as chips and feels really lovely.

I liked the Inecto Argan conditioner (£1!) and find UG curl gel in the pink tube best product I've tried

I use Palmers Co Wash but it's £1.50 cheaper in an ethnic hair shop round here. A bottle lasts me about a month, using it every other day.

I have been using Garnier's avocada & shea butter shampoo and conditioner for a few months.
It's silicone and paraben free and works really well on my thick, curly hair.
I find that other products (Naked, Boot's curl creme...) make my scalp itch, but these don't.

I have also been using organic coconut oil for a while: a wee slick over the ends at night, and on wet hair in the morning. A jar lasts ages.

I use Lush American cream conditioner and Cynthia Stout shampoo. The shampoo isn't sulphate free I don't think, but I only avoid silicones.

The Garnier Ultimate Blends ones were awful for my hair, made it straw-like, as did the Body Shop Rainforest range.

Faith in Nature is lovely and is great on my curly hair. Superdrug's coconut and sweet almond shampoo and conditioner is really good too and very cheap.

I like the Faith in Nature shampoo, which makes my scalp feel much cleaner/nicer than the Devacurl one I got in TKMaxx. I use their conditioner as a leave-in before using the Boots pink curl creme too (and then either UG curl gel, or currently the Devacurl one from TKMaxx).

Thanks everyone. I gave the garner ultrablends shampoo & conditioner a go along with the boots pink curl creme. I forgot that sls shampoos irritate my scalp though, so will definitely need to get a different shampoo. That said, hair all seems fine for now and all three were less than the cost of one bottle of devacurl shampoo!

I found one at Waitrose. Will get the name in a bit.

DGJ Organics. I've bought the argon oil shampoo and conditioner. Only used it once so far, but it seemed alright.

I don't know if my Garnier one is Ultimate Blends, they have so many ranges, and I'm in France so my bottles say Ultra Doux.

It works for me. Body Shop Rainforest stuff didn't, at all.

I love Palmers for SLS-free shampoo, Organic Surge are good too.

The best (and strangely the cheapest) non SLS and sometimes organic shampoos and related products are made by a London shop called Mistry, their stuff is perfect, no 'additions' . They do mail order too, but I get them from independent health food shops.

Also I use softener in my hair washing\rinsing water which makes a hell of a difference to the condition of my 'used to be dry and curly' hair

ppeat, what kind of softener?

I'm currently experimenting with only using conditioner to wash my hair - no shampoo now for 10 days. I think I can see a difference.
