with a silk vest to hide the 'naked' tummy bits and brightened up with a shrug and some gold shoes?

I hate wearing dresses....

No but it isn't 1995 either.

If you hate your arms why are you looking at sleeveless?!

Chippednailvarnish · 26/09/2015 22:05

What about this ?

Bambooshoots14 · 26/09/2015 22:05

Dress is lovely Smile

Moln · 26/09/2015 22:07

Thing is if you are a middle aged frump (not saying you are OP) with ham arms what are you supposed to wear?

One if the plentiful nice dresses/tops with sleeves? Oh wait...

Snoopadoop · 26/09/2015 22:08

If you hate your arms so much, where something with sleeves, don't buy a sleeveless garment and then wear a shrug.

Snoopadoop · 26/09/2015 22:09

And can I be brutal? If you're a slightly larger lady (don't know if you are) then shrugs are even more unflattering. They hug the arms and make them look bigger.

MrsHathaway · 26/09/2015 22:10

I love this for a wedding.

nothinglooksgood · 26/09/2015 22:10

This is the shrug that I had in mind. Is it truly horrendous???

Chippednailvarnish - I get what you are saying but what can I get that covers arms and legs and doesn't look frumpish???

Heh heh @ 1995.

I think jumpsuit is fine for a wedding even if it is black. I think only really bad wedding guest crimes are to wear an all white dress, particularly if long, and to change your morning suit for shorts and tshirt during the pre breakfast drinks even if it is hot

SacredHeart · 26/09/2015 22:11

Jumpsuits for me are for nightclubs and swingers parties - not weddings.

I guess if it's casual or themed (70's, boogie nights) maybe?

Snoopadoop · 26/09/2015 22:12

If you want a jumpsuit what about this, it's still black I'm afraid.

Chippednailvarnish · 26/09/2015 22:13

Snoop great minds!

nothinglooksgood · 26/09/2015 22:16

Sorry for repeated posts - don't know what's going on! Chipped - the link didn't work - what was it? I'm desperate!

Snoopadoop - yes of course you can be brutal - that's why I came on here - for some honesty. ALthough I am not a 'larger lady' and shrugs don't look unflattering on me - although maybe a bit dated.

Arms issue is mainly a skin thing rather than general fatness - although they could do with toning up. Legs - same thing but I have lipodema too so they are not for showing off.

I am in early 40's but don't feel middle aged and don't want to look it! Most people think I am a lot younger than I am. But I'm out of my comfort zone in wedding attire and start going for weird choices!

or this www.phase-eight.com/fcp/product/phase-eight/all-new-arrivals/anzu-kimono-jumpsuit/203174603

imo black is a non issue

Snoopadoop · 26/09/2015 22:17

chipped funny!

OP if you don't want black, what about this, although I'd wear a nicer belt with it.

passmethewineplease · 26/09/2015 22:19

Oh Jesus I've bought a shrug for a wedding and my fat arms. Beginning to regret it now!Shock I couldn't find a dress with sleeves that wasn't stupid clingy.

I'd go for something with a bit of colour OP!

Snoopadoop · 26/09/2015 22:19

What about trousers and top with a lacy sleeve to hide your arms a bit? A nice tailored fitted pair of trousers with some great heels. I'm off to google.
I'd really avoid the shrug though.

nothinglooksgood · 26/09/2015 22:22

I'd love to be able to wear that MrsHathaway - but can't show legs.

Snoop - I like the La Redoute - but won't do black as I'm on top table and it feels too much of statement to wear black. ( my other choices are purple)

I like the phase eight one BrendaandEddie but maybe a bit too casual?

Oh man I've been trying to get something for ages and now only a week to go. Can't get out shopping so jsut internest shopping and then returnind hordes of stuff. Arghh... feeling depressed now.

Moln · 26/09/2015 22:23

Oooh that red one is nice. Especially if you are tall and slender

Lots of jump suits at the last wedding I was at (3 weeks ago) Spent quite a lot of time in the loos unzipping and zipping up people!!

SwedishEdith · 26/09/2015 22:23

Oh, that Asos one is great.

nothinglooksgood · 26/09/2015 22:27

Snoop - the ASOS one is great but can't show my elbows ( I sound like a vile looking creature don'tI ?! but in the right clothes light can still pass for attractive...i think!)

Love the phase eight janessa - if only it wasn't black!

OP posts:
mewkins · 26/09/2015 22:27

I think it's the colour that highlights every lunp and bump and not in a good way! I am a size 8 and my stomach reasonably flat but it didn't look it in that jumpsuit! Hehe
A dark colour is much more flattering.

Snoopadoop · 26/09/2015 22:29

Awww bless you op. You do not sound like a 'vile looking creature'. I'm going to keep looking.

Chippednailvarnish · 26/09/2015 22:36

I posted the same jumpsuit as snoop.

It's starting to sound like more of a self esteem issues than anything wrong with how you look OP.
I personally couldn't give a fuck what my elbows loom like Grin
