Do you think nail varnish colour says something about you?

I am very conscious when wearing colour on my nails. I either go pale pink or very dark but am conscious when I wear red.

Is it just me?

Whenever I see those greyish/minkish shades in magazines I think "oooh sooo sophisticated!" But when I try it them looks like I have dead feet sticking out from under my dress. I do think it is a skin tone thing. I need something warm-toned ?? though I'm pale, all oranges, pinks, purples and sparkles look lovely with my skin, greige does not!

Yes, definitely a skin tone thing - I can't wear nude as it makes me look dead, but an ice white is great. I wear greige-y shades sometimes and love how they look. I'd love to try a matt navy, but I'm rubbish at applying dark shades to myself, and my beautician doesn't have anything matt (does Shellac even do matt shades??).

I always joke that the muddy colours are always for me and me alone (as everyone else thinks they're disgusting), although apparently a few people having seen mine have gone in and asked for similar.

Holger, I've just the sort of shade you described and it's lovely. By Chanel and it's shade 601 Mysterious.

I've got oodles of nail polish. Dh bought me a lovely lockable nail box last Xmas as dd kept pinching my good ones. It houses all my pricey ones and there's another huge tray with all the other ones in.

My toes are normally red, varies from a bright tomato red to a dark plum and my fingers depend on what I'm doing, if I'm going out and how much housework I have to do.

I hate chipped nails! They look terrible.

Also love Barry M and have a huge collection, I actually use up whole bottles and have to re purchase the same colours because I use so much.

I paint my nails daily even if it's just a top up.
I can't stand chipped nails on others.

I'm currently wearing Barry M pink flamingo but bought a few new Poundland Make Up Gallery polishes today so I will try those over next few days.

Neat, painted nails mean that I feel neat and tidy and ready to present myself to the world! I would not go out the door with chipped nails .

I realise this may be a bit odd but it's just a ' thing' that makes me feel a little more confident in day to day life.

I don't think colour says anything about you- I change my nail varnish colour depending on my outfit and my mood so I wear all the colours under the sun.

For me, it's the state of the varnish. If it's badly done and chipping, I think people are lazy and can't be bothered to commit to nail varnish properly.

Ohhhh fieldfare I like it a lot! Might put that on my very long wish list!
