Hi all, my brother is getting married in 3 weeks time and my baby boy will be 10 weeks old then. He a small - average size baby. Any ideas on what to dress him in?

Something like this

As he's probably going to be the third most fussed over person at the wedding, I'd go all out and dress him in something ridiculously old fashioned. I'm thinking puffed shorts or dungarees with a Peter Pan collared shirt. Like Prince George. And a frothy white crocheted blanket. Avoid christening wear, though. You don't want to spoil the show for the happy couple.

Congratulations on your 10wo!

FanSpamTastic · 11/09/2015 16:04

how about something like this?

AliMonkey · 11/09/2015 16:05

At that stage mine were always in sleep suits and I wouldn't have bought anything special for the wedding. Maybe cute dungarees and definitely something that makes it obvious he is a boy to make it easier for strangers to know what to say!

FanSpamTastic · 11/09/2015 16:09

We went to DB's wedding when DS was 4 weeks old and dressed him in a pale blue stripe sailor suit. But it was summer and his sisters were wearing blue bridesmaids dresses. So it kind of fitted in with their outfits.

louloubelle2 · 11/09/2015 16:14

whatever it is, get three versions of it, if you're doing the whole day and evening, they'll be an explosion out of one or both ends at some point.

addictedtosugar · 11/09/2015 16:15

smartish sleep suit orsoft dungarees

squoosh · 11/09/2015 16:21

I like the H&M one linked to. It would make me smile to see a baby in that.

Personally I hate the Prince George look.

When we took PFB DS1 to a friend's wedding aged probably about 14/15 weeks we put him in a Monsoon linen trousers/waistcoat/jacket combo, matching DH who was in a linen suit the same colour.
Yes, really.

[bonkers with PFB emoticon]

DS didn't wear the jacket at all obviously, and in fact spent most of the ceremony outside in the car being fed listening to the cricket with DH and then most of the reception asleep in his pushchair.

Very cute photos though.

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 11/09/2015 16:35

We put dc in this aged 8 weeks.

This is also quite cute:

Well, this is just my opinion, but I hate those outfits that make a baby look like they are wearing a suit and bowtie. Naff!

I would just go for a new outfit (I wouldn't be able to resist buying something new) which is comfy for the baby. I like the stripey M&S dungarees linked to by addictedtosugar. The Next elephant dungarees are sweet, but I don't think denim is right for a wedding, even in a baby.

Nc19999992 · 11/09/2015 16:46

We got ds a little tuxedo baby grow when we went to a wedding around the same age, I'm fairly sure he got more Attention than the bride! We ordered it online somewhere for about £7- I'm sure all those links above are similar though!

MrsAukerman · 11/09/2015 17:55

Sailor type or new stripy things like addicted posted.

Not keen on the tailored look on babies.

squoosh · 11/09/2015 17:59

I wonder why sailor outfits became a go-to look for baby boys in the first place. It's a bit strange when you think about it.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 11/09/2015 18:05

This is pretty cute and vintage:

I'd probably be looking to co-ordinate baby with myself and OH too though so maybe decide what you are wearing and take it from there?

Fairenuff · 11/09/2015 18:07

Babygro?

StormCoat · 11/09/2015 18:11

Sailor suits/imitation Prince George/Little Lord Fauntleroy outfits are awful on babies at weddings, I agree. As well as naff, the babies look creased, bothered and uncomfortable with all the buttons, seams and fascinatings. . I'd go with a nice Babygro or soft dungarees - my son had some lovely soft striped jersey dungarees for a wedding when he was about three months.

BikeRunSki · 11/09/2015 18:14

That h&m outfit Every1 linked to is perfect!

PebbleTTC · 11/09/2015 18:14

Hi all, thanks for the suggestions. I think he would need long sleeve and legs, would need something a bit more dressy than jeans and not a fan of sailor outfits. I liked the next clothes but the short sleeve is turning me off

I got a fancy dress for my PFB DD to attend an autumn wedding. She looked adorable - for about 5 minutes until she puked down herself. Then she was in a vest and tights until she had an exploding nappy. Then she was in a babygro.

I'm now on DC3 and would put a baby in a babygro regardless of the occasion. And bring plenty of spares.

LettuceLaughton · 11/09/2015 18:24

A plain white babygrow and a little white (or blue) cardigan would be perfect for such a tiny baby, I'd say.

I do like old fashioned formal stuff (not suits / tailoring) on big babies and tiny toddlers but not such a young baby, it's just not appropriate.
