What should baby wear to wedding

Hi all, my brother is getting married in 3 weeks time and my baby boy will be 10 weeks old then. He a small - average size baby. Any ideas on what to dress him in?

"Well, this is just my opinion, but I hate those outfits that make a baby look like they are wearing a suit and bowtie. Naff!"

I agree. It just looks wrong.

I think a smart looking sleepsuit is fine. He will only be 10 weeks old. Some of the outfits linked to will be extremely impractical and don't look very comfortable.

pigsinmud · 11/09/2015 18:30

I'd just go for a babygro and cardigan. It's personal taste, but I hate fussy things on a baby.

Hellochicken · 11/09/2015 18:30

bow tie

I'd go with this! But really would take a back up (or 2) for nappy incidents!

LettuceLaughton · 11/09/2015 18:34

It looks none too comfortable, TBH. His socks will fall off all day long and you'll not have the option to change him for sick / milk splashes unless you get another identical set or change him into some of his normal clothes.

No body would expect a child under 6 months to be formally dressed, honestly not. How about something like this over a babygrow?

LettuceLaughton · 11/09/2015 18:44

another tank top
dungaree set

WankerDeAsalWipe · 11/09/2015 18:50

My favourite so far is probably the knitted suit from Boots in the first of addicted links.

I guess it depends on whether your baby looks nice in grey.

What does he look nice in OP? - e.g. Colour/style

123Jump · 11/09/2015 18:50

Mine all worn babygro style for ages, 3 months anyway. There is nothing so nice as a baby in a babygro!
I would just get some of these from The White Company. I think I have a discount code if you want one,OP?

WankerDeAsalWipe · 11/09/2015 18:58

Mine were into different things for day and night pretty quickly. DS1 was nearly 10 pounds and had quite an adult looking face - he never really suited white or baby baby pastel type stuff. he had multi-coloured baby grows & cardis for bed and bodysuits/leggings/tshirt/tops for day time.

Relatives sent him a beautiful pale blue suit thing with little ducks on from the states - he looked horrible and really odd in it - we took a photo to send her and then passed it on :)

I'm not really into dressing them as cut down men either but there is a happy medium and I think OP wants to dress him in something special for the wedding.

123Jump · 11/09/2015 19:07

Mine were 9lb 7oz, 10lb 11oz and 10lb 12oz. Its just a personal opinion, but I prefer babygros.

Bunbaker · 11/09/2015 19:15

DD weighed less than 6lb at birth. I don't think she even weighed 10lb at 10 weeks. She would have looked ridiculous in anything other than a sleepsuit.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 11/09/2015 19:16

true - would be a boring place if we were all the same :)

WankerDeAsalWipe · 11/09/2015 19:19

Mine were over a stone at 10 weeks :)

BumWad · 11/09/2015 19:19

Wow I love that h&m outfit but it's sold out online!

slithytove · 11/09/2015 20:03

White sleep suit and blue cardi with special blanket. Agree with a few of the same sleepsuit.

slithytove · 11/09/2015 20:05

He is a tiny baby, still newborn.

Nothing 2 piece, nothing with a waistband, nothing fake. There is time for denim or waistcoats when he is bigger.

Definitely a sweet, snuggly, baby sleepsuit.

5madthings · 11/09/2015 20:10

I like the clothes linked to by addicted they look nice and comfortable for baby and practical. They are still very little at ten weeks. You just want comfortable, practical and easy to wash.

QueenPigSmoothCheeks · 12/09/2015 19:30

My 6mo DS wore a Next soft three piece for my DB's wedding years ago. Nothing odd happened and I think he seemed content.

squoosh · 12/09/2015 19:43

Didn't your 6 month old know he was contravening Mumsnet Rule No. 62 which clearly states that 'children must wear babygros and only wear babygros until they reach their first birthday'.

A babygro or top/leggings.

Something that can be easily changed.
There'll be loads going on and a tiny baby will likely have emissions from both ends during the course of the day.
Whilst some of the clothes may be cute, I'd hate to face washing them hours and hours after any bodily fluids had really soaked in.

daisydalrymple · 12/09/2015 20:13

MOTHERCARE often have velvet type all in one suits that might be suitable for a wedding.

I can't link on phone, but jojomaman Bebe have a few lovely sleepsuits, (but £££) embroidered duck, embroidered elephant or embroidered multi coloured star my fave, (£16) with matching jacket (£16)and matching hat (£5)

PebbleTTC · 13/09/2015 00:07

Thanks for all the suggestions, some of those outfits look a little too casual but maybe they would look different on. In fairness to the little fella he doesn't have explosions from either end so I would think he will be easy enough to keep clean. I think your right about staying away from suits - he is just too small

It's harder than you'd think - loads of stuff for little girls but for boys it all seems either to formal and adult or too casual :)
