Tangleteasers - worth it?

Are they worth the extra cost?

The DCs hair is fairly easy to brush but the eldest's gets quite tangly.

For my family no, we all have thick wavy hair and it can't get through to the underneath of our hair

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/09/2015 11:50

I love mine and it's good for DD as well . I have very tangly hair.

Floggingmolly · 11/09/2015 11:54

Same as Emo, I'm afraid.

Heyheyheygoodbye · 11/09/2015 11:55

I love mine! I detangle with it dry before wash, and wet with conditioner in. Fab. Don't get a knock-off though.

YouMakeMyDreams · 11/09/2015 11:55

They seem to be a love hate thing. Dd has extremely thick hair and they are great on it but there is a knack to it. Hated it at first but now love it.
Home bargains do a cheap version that is just as good actually in fact some people may like it better the bristles are a little firmer than the official version.

Keeptrudging · 11/09/2015 11:56

Yes, great for my DDs curly/wavy/birds nest hair! Smile

Smoothyloopy · 11/09/2015 11:57

DD very long fine hair, definitely worth it.

Dowser · 11/09/2015 12:05

Yes and yes to HB one as well.

MrsMcGregor · 11/09/2015 14:21

Google Wet Brush .... we have both and the wet brush is a million times better and gentler on hair. I think Amazon have them. Around £13 ish.

lurkingabit · 11/09/2015 14:37

Definitely worth it in this household

bialystockandbloom · 11/09/2015 14:40

I've given up with it on my 5yo dd, it was ok when she was much younger and had shorter/less hair, but now her hair is just too thick, too wavy, and too much of it. It could take 15 minutes just to brush through in the mornings.

therealsquireofwideacre · 11/09/2015 14:42

Not impressed here either, the bristles are too short for very thick hair.

PosterEh · 11/09/2015 14:43

Dd's hair is too thick for us to be able to brush through all the layers at once but it still ends up quicker than a regular brush as she doesn't complain or wriggle at all whilst I'm doing it so I would recommend.

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 11/09/2015 14:55

I use my ordinary brush before washing my hair and a TT when the conditioners on, it's like magic.

My hair's very long, course and very very thick.

Branleuse · 11/09/2015 14:58

no, they are no better than a normal brush

Branleuse · 11/09/2015 14:58

and theyre weirdly light, and therefore unpleasant to use

LadyErrant · 11/09/2015 14:58

Not sure if the cheaper versions are any good but I couldn't live without my TT. You have to section your hair off though, if you tried to brush it through a whole mane of wet hair it won't work.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 11/09/2015 15:02

Definitely TT v useful when DD was younger, it was the only thing we could brush her hair with without a meltdown. Her hair is wavy/curly.

However she is nearly 7 now and has just graduated to a normal hairbrush as her hair is getting thicker.

Marmaladybird · 11/09/2015 16:07

Yes! DS has long-ish fine hair and it's a godsend.

CointreauVersial · 11/09/2015 17:17

Both DD2 and I have fine, tangly hair, but lots of it. TT is a godsend. It's the only brush which gets through the tangles without ripping most of the hair from my scalp. I do find I drop it quite often, though!

FrustratedFrugal · 11/09/2015 17:28

We have a knockoff TT and it's by far our favorite thing for DD's hair.

fuzzywuzzy · 11/09/2015 17:30

Haven't used any ther hairbrush since using tangle teasers, my youngest has very thick hair so I need to section it to brush it with the tangle teaser but it's still by far the quickest and least painful method of de tangling her hair.

Twooter · 11/09/2015 18:39

Much prefer home bargains version ( the big one not the small round one)

Fevertree · 11/09/2015 18:42

I bought a knock off in b&m bargains for £1 and it's fab.

mowglik · 11/09/2015 21:48

Hate my tangle teezer was such a waste for me! I clearly forgot this when it was the only brush I packed last week when on hols and spent the majority of the holiday looking like a troll doll :/

For me (I have medium fine hair) the bristles were too short and too bendy to really do much and only the top part of my hair would really get brushed - tangles galore underneath. Don't recommend at all.
