Non ironers unite!

I don't iron. DH sends his shirts out, everything else just doesn't get done.

I tend to buy jersey, denim, polyester fabrics and am a bit scared of silk, viscose and even woven cotton.

I bought a Boden Breton and it effing looks creased unless I iron it, which isn't happening! Is that reason to return it? Grin

We moved in May 2013 and I've not ironed a thing since we moved. I hadn't ironed before either but the move is a watermark.

Dp irons his own and dss stuff and offers to iron mine but I honestly can't think of anything of mine that needs ironing ever.

What is this 'ironing' of which you speak?

I do press fabric though before cutting and sewing...

LittleBearPad · 04/08/2015 23:35

We moved in March. DD (3) watching all our furniture come into the house pointed at the ironing board and asked DM 'what's that granny'. Grin

DM is coming round to my way of thinking. On the other extreme her SIL irons boxer shorts!

Non-ironed checking in.

I'm a bridesmaid on Saturday and still need to iron my dress - been putting it off as I haven't ironed anything for over a year.

Also, I'm very interested in the m+s school uniform suggestion as DD1 starts school this year and I don't want to iron anything - is m+s the place to go for ironing refuseniks?

Wow! I want to live like this...who knew all you ironing free lot have been doing something less boring instead all this time!

Your stories of iron free living are making me jealous. I want to let go of my ironing - I hate it, it's thankless and all this time no one seems to notice (by the sounds of things) the difference between us, the fed up crease removers and the non ironing gang.

I want to be free of this burden, permission to sack the iron? Grin

LittleBearPad · 05/08/2015 00:16

Sack it. It won't mind. It could do with a rest.

My irons just used for sewing and Hama beads. Anything that really needs ironing just ends up not getting worn...
DH has the m&s ultimate non iron shirts, so no ironing for him either.
I once worked with someone who had 2 young children and ironed everything: sheets, tea towels, socks and pants even!

Melonfool · 05/08/2015 06:49

The trick is to buy jersey mainly, polyester is fine, viscose doesn't really need ironing either.

Linen is the nightmare, but for trousers linen and cotton mix is OK.

Hang everything on hangers rather than over an airer (we don't have a tumble dryer) and with trousers/jeans I stand on the hems and pull them up hard by the waistband before hanging to stretch them out.

dss school shirts are polo shirts and they don't seem to need ironing if shaken firmly, pulled into shape and dried on the airer. Or if they do no-one has mentioned it Grin

I have found my spiritual home!

The only ironing that happens in this house is DH's work shirts and DS's uniform and DH does both of these.

I will use the iron for Hama Beads but even then I managed to melt a load on and wreck the iron.
