I don't iron. DH sends his shirts out, everything else just doesn't get done.

I tend to buy jersey, denim, polyester fabrics and am a bit scared of silk, viscose and even woven cotton.

I bought a Boden Breton and it effing looks creased unless I iron it, which isn't happening! Is that reason to return it? Grin

I very occassionally iron. I've just been regretting a cotton dress purchase as its going to need a going over. I hate ironing.

IHavemyownLighthouseyouknow · 01/08/2015 00:23

GHDs or equivalent are my ironing saviours. Perfect for those little bits like collars and cuffs on the DCs clothes so they don't look really bad at parties....

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 01/08/2015 00:26

I never iron.

That's a lie. I last ironed a bridesmaid dress when I was 7 weeks pregnant. DD is now 3.3.

I may iron her school shirts when she starts. Or buy some non iron ones...

I just thought of a quite a funny story from years ago when DD was little and the result of my status as an "as you go" ironer....

She went to stay with a friend for the night. Came home and said "Mum, it's really weird at their house, they have clothes in their wardrobe that they can just TAKE OUT AND PUT ON"...

Very weird indeed Grin

cuddybridge · 01/08/2015 23:00

I told my kids that they had to iron their own school stuff when they started high school, they never did, and then my husband left home with the iron three years ago and so that's that, no ironing possible

gaggiagirl · 01/08/2015 23:13

What's an iron? Grin my child has never seen one before

ashtrayheart · 01/08/2015 23:15

We don't iron. Odd thing is in dd's preschool pictures there is one of her using a pretend iron in the home corner. Maybe she saw it on tv Grin

BestIsWest · 02/08/2015 00:05

Very rarely iron but I do have a bit of a thing for linen and cotton shirts. As someone up thread said though, anyone in our house old enough to care about creases is old enough to iron themselves.

CointreauVersial · 02/08/2015 00:17

Aaaah, my spiritual home...

Life's far too short to iron. I do have the odd posh dress or shirt which needs ironing; needless to say, they rarely get worn. Our iron was previously owned by DH's XGF (we've been together over 20 years, which tells you how old it is), and it is buried somewhere in a cupboard. I'm not sure it's electrically safe, tbh.

I told a couple of people at work that I don't iron, and they were Shock Shock Shock It was as if I told them I worshipped the devil at weekends. Grin

Runningupthathill82 · 02/08/2015 07:58

I don't iron. None of my friends do either. We are all smart professionals!

My iron hasn't been unpacked since we moved house three and a half years ago. DS has never seen it.

dexter73 · 02/08/2015 07:59

I don't mind ironing. I just do it while watching tv.

mrsdavidbowie · 02/08/2015 08:14

I iron less and less.
Maybe once a fortnight.
Dcs do their own but most doesn't need doing.
That said I do enjoy doing it.

meglet · 02/08/2015 08:16

no ironing here. The only time I've got the iron out in 3 yrs is to iron hama beads.

hanging outside to dry in the breeze or straight onto an airier drops most creases out. no one in the house wears shirts or anything that needs to be 'crisp'.

Itsbloodyraining · 02/08/2015 08:20

omg!! GHDs!!!

ItsAll · 02/08/2015 08:20

Slatterns Grin.

We iron a bit.

LooseSeal · 02/08/2015 08:27

The only thing time I ever get the iron out is to attach name labels to school uniform. DH mostly wears casual clothes to work, but if he needs to look smart he breaks out the iron. I dry everything that can crease on hangers, I'd rather clean the oven than iron.

SinglePringle · 02/08/2015 08:34

Ironer and Proud!

Spent two hours yesterday and did 8 blouses / tops
6 trousers / jeans
5 dresses

I like being able to pull anything I want out of the wardrobe and not have to iron every morning.

I hate creased clothes and wear a lot of cotton.

Telly on, cup of tea, iron away - not a bother here.

Christelle2207 · 02/08/2015 08:43

I have not ironed anything since first dc was born two years ago. We now have two dc2 and really don't have time. In that time dh has ironed twice and one time was to iron on name tags for DS' nursery clothes.

We don't have a tumble drier either. Freaks according to my dm.

knackeredknitter · 02/08/2015 08:50

I dug out the iron to iron my my 5 year old dd's party dress the other day. She marvelled and ahhed in wonderment at this strange contraption, and asked how it worked, she thought it quite hilarious Grin

The only time I iron is when the DCs trousers need wondawebbing. I have been known to 'repair' said wondaweb with the hair straighteners on occasion to save getting the iron out for a tiny piece of hem.

MrsEdinburgh · 04/08/2015 21:29

Only ever iron linen & the odd smart shirt of DH, everything else straight off the line/out the tumbler & then hung in the wardrobe or folded & put in drawers.
Though funnily enough before DC I thought my Sis & Bil were strange for not ironing.....then we had kids & woke up as they say Grin

DaddyPigIsMyParentingGuru · 04/08/2015 21:35

Just when I thought mumsnet couldn't get any better I found this thread

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 04/08/2015 21:44

I dont iron either. If somethings a bit creased it goes into the dryer for a few minutes (even if its not meant to) and the creases drop out.

I do own an iron and board, but they are only ever used if I buy new trousers as I dont like the crease down the front that always seem to be on new trousers and jeans.
