39yrs old, size 16/18 pleleeaaasssee dress me for a festival so I dont look like a heifer

I'm going to my 2nd festival next weekend and would really like to look "ok". But . . . I'm very overweight and sort on cash so this may be impossible to achieve! Went to the same festival last year and had a great time - it will probably be wet, cold & windy but not too muddy. Will have my dd15 and her BFF so don't really want to embarrass themBlush

I an 16 and wear a nice jump suit or baggy patterned trousers with a crochet top over it with tassels over the belly area. I felt nice.
I wore flip flops or boots if vile weather.
NO FLOWER HEADRESS but nice head bands to save doing your hair.
Mac and umbrella for rain.
Important to try on the trousers because some are very flattering and some are hideously baggy and make u look enormous.

Denim shorts a nice t-shirt, a long cardigan and calf-length boots

Is what I would wear, I am a similar age/size to you.

Hair down and natural but with sparkly clip in bag for later.

Have a lovely time.

Thanks Ledkr, see that's the thing, I haven't ever found a pair that fit well - I usually look like a sack with a drawstring round my middle Grin.

I don't really have access to a shopping centre either as live rurally - the internet is all I have I think!

I went to a festival a while back and wore. Converse, black trousers, layered sleeveless long t-shirt, long-sleeved t-shirt, serious anorak/parka thing that I usually save for camping.

I blended: didn't stand out as fabulous; didn't look out of place. I was also able to stay both warm and dry in the rain, and strip off a bit when dancing.

I suspect some sort of hat might have lifted the ensemble but ... It was fine.

That's kind of what I went with last year and think it may well be my best plan this year too thecat Smile

I'm really not good with hats, I have glasses so I always think my head/face looks too cluttered!

Its Belladrum Tartan Heart - Inverness :) cant wait! I'd never been to anything concert or festival wise until last year and loved loved loved it. We dont camp as that would ruin everything Wink

Mama - do you think I could get away with shorts?? I wear a skirt/dress quite often (work etc) but for some reason shorts fill me with dread

By the way, army surplus jackets are back (think 1980s indie bands), which is very useful: pockets; sensible for the variable weather.

You could go for shorts over leggings, which is a current-ish look.

Also, in John Lewis, there is a Somerset-temperley white dress that is quite old-style Taylor Swift, festival-style. I think it's in the sale - I think the black version was reduced a while back. That + boots + jacket might look nice + being cheap and wreckable.

My favourite part of the festival was discovering a stall selling gin. I don't think I'm the best person to be advising on this. But I really want this thread to attract a bit more traffic - and I really want you to have a great time!Smile

Thing about all in ones is that you have to roll the whole thing down to go to the loo.
That can be tricky in a portaloo when you're a bit tipsy (the gin ...).

I second layers.

I would wear dark jeans, converse, crochet top with vest/long sleeve top underneath, funky bag (tasseled bags are in the shop ATM) and take a scarf/warm hat/floppy sun hat & waterproof to cover all weather situations.

Oh Mama I love it but not sure I'm brave enough and my dd would disown me! I like to think once they are all old enough and have left home (and I get my freedom) that I'll wear whatever the hell I like as will have no one to tell me otherwise (other than DH).
thecat I'm not much of a drinker but last year there were micro breweries and a stall thingy selling different flavoured ciders etc - I may have had 1 or 2. Google Tartan heart - it was amazing, really family friendly and had a lovely atmosphere, not too big. I'm a complete convert lol

Trick with the baggy trews is to try them on and size down. Nothing worse than shapeless ones.
They need to be more like lose leggings. I get a 14 although id never get into 14 jeans iyswim.
Here like these.

How about a floaty shirt dress type thing, which you can layer over a vest top and leggings/add a cardie of it's chilly.

I am even older. My festival look was leggings, dress, purple,docs or my rainforest Adidas trainers (super comfy).

Lots of makeup.

Because I am in scotland, and its fucking freezing, I also added a long sleeve top, vest, hoodie, woolly hat, down jacket Grin

It was really really cold just watching bands in the evening.

I probably did look like a heifer, on reflection, but least can blame it on the hundreds of layers.... ????

I really like the dress Philomena but its too cold here right now to wear a denim jacket! Scotland in the summer Grin. I'm not sure about the wellie on me, although I think they're really cute - I would worry they would make my legs look even more stumpy than they are? Although it would rule out he issue with my current wellies being uncomfortably tight on my calves!
