Just had a PDO threadlift

DameDoom · 28/07/2015 17:50

Am no stranger to facial tinkering but haven't ever had threads before. They've tightened my jowls a treat - can't wait to see full results in about 10 weeks. It wasn't the most pleasurable hour of my life and I will probably need more in in a couple of weeks but am pleased so far.
Oh, my jaw and neck are also turning purple!

I think I saw something similar on TV. They said that collagen develops where the threads have been, so that when the threads break down after a year or so, the return to previous will be slower because the collagen will still be supported the underlying structure to an extent.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 01/08/2015 08:25

Ah, that must be what the tube things are in the diagram, collagen

DameDoom · 02/08/2015 09:54

I spoke to the nurse who did my threads today and I must apologise for frightening anyone with my 45 threads story. She laughed like a drain... I actually had 4 to 5 put in on each side of both my jaw and neck.
It's easy to mix up 45 and 4 to 5 when you are feeling ouchy!
Face now a subtle shade of autumn.

WaggleBee · 02/08/2015 13:49

Grin at 45. But ouch to the brown bruising. How long does it take to fade? Although I guess that depends on the individual.

suzanneyeswecan · 02/08/2015 15:51

are we talking bruising and swelling that requires rest and seclusion DameDoom or have you been able to carry on as normal? (save perhaps for extra foundation/concealer)

DameDoom · 02/08/2015 16:28

For me, seclusion, but I bruise something shocking.I ventured out to Morrison's today (that's where I bumped in to the nurse). She had a surreptitious grope of my jaw at the bottom of the carpark and mentioned I was still v swollen and bruised.
I'll bang a quick jaw photo up - sorry in advance for unwashed hair etc...

Am sure you can see the bruising and swelling, especially on left side but I think my neck looks much tighter already... for 43 anyway.

OP posts:
suzanneyeswecan · 02/08/2015 16:38

Very good of you to share your experience and pictures, certainly your neck and jaw line look very firm...you must be pleased:)
I'm thinking it'll be a couple of weeks before it all settles down and you can see the actual result?

If I go for this type of procedure I will try and remember to take before as well as after pictures!

DameDoom · 02/08/2015 17:05

They took befores at the clinic...jaw looked 143 not 43. It remains to be seen if my latest face tinkering will produce improved results. I hope so.
I don't want to be a young glamour puss but staring into the face of Deputy Dawgs jowls every day can be depressing. I look a lot better now than I did at 35 sagwise though, thanks to cheek fillers and botox therefore I feel better too.
I am a total advocate of these procedures.
I took the photo from below which was my saggiest angle but, I feel anyway,it is much improved. Nurse reiterated again in the carpark it will be some weeks until I see full results. She suggested she might put a couple more in in a couple of weeks.

OP posts:
WaggleBee · 02/08/2015 17:28

Zero sag there now. I bruise very easily too and they go green just before they start fading so you're should be clearing up soon. Is it very tender?

WaggleBee · 02/08/2015 17:29

My bruises go green I mean.

DameDoom · 02/08/2015 17:45

It was waggle the aftermath is much worse than the procedure. My face was black and blue on Weds and Thurs so when they say it's a lunchtime procedure that ain't true and there's no way you could bob back in to work without looking like Desperate Dan, in a carjacking, in Compton.
I was bluey/black, then green and now yellow. I'll be able to cleanse properly tomorrow and put on make-up.

OP posts:
AgathaF · 03/08/2015 07:07

It looks very uncomfortable but your jaw line does look impressively firm.

Merriboo · 11/08/2015 20:09

DameDoom how has it settled now and did you need more threads?

DameDoom · 16/08/2015 18:16

Hi Merriboo am going back on Tuesday to see if I need more. I still have a slight bruise. Should have gone back earlier but I didn't want to ruin my friend's wedding photos.
I can definitely tell the difference, but then again, I obsess about my jawline. DH can't but he didn't notice I'd had 5 inches off my hair!
I have put on over a stone in the last year so do have some double-chinnage going on but looking at photos from the wedding yesterday, I just look a bit fat round the face opposed to fattish with pronounced jowls.

OP posts:
Merriboo · 11/09/2015 06:37

Hi Damedoom how are things looking now?

ChilliAndMint · 11/09/2015 07:04

My SIL had her brow done, goodness knows why ,she's stunning.
It made her look like the female equivalent of Jack Nicholson. either she's had the " threads " removed ,or they've slackened, but I'm pleased to say she looked 100% better the last time I saw her.
I'm getting the beginnings of a bit of a jowl, but I couldn't give a flying fart. I'm just grateful that I'm not horribly disfigured or disabled and I honestly think beauty comes from within.

I slick of lippy and a friendly demeanour works for me.

CuttedUpPear · 11/09/2015 07:09

My neck and jawline are the worst parts of me, ageing-wise.

Reading this thread with interest.

Hollymae23 · 29/12/2018 16:58

Apparently their is more than one type. I think the PDO threads last a year but their is another type which lasts quite a bit longer but is double the cost

Shaz1610 · 23/04/2019 19:31

Hi all! I have just had this done today! Jaw line/neck....never again! It was very painful and the aftercare is way more than I expected. I think it would not have been much worse actually having it surgically done. Yes the results are instant, although there is a small puckering on one side of my jaw which I hope to God is temporary otherwise I will not be happy!. Glad I had it done though as my Turkey neck had got me down for a long long time and I would always have thought "what if" but not sure it's worth it.

BlueGrey1 · 18/11/2023 15:40

@DameDoom

I know it’s a very old post but we’re you happy with the appearance after 10 weeks and how long did the effects last?

have you had them done again since and has the price gone up if you did?

Im considering getting them done….hence the questions

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the OP has had a face Iift since then - if you advance search her username you might find her posts about it. So I'm guessing it didn't last long.

TBH, I don't think the thread lifts work out well, even if they do lift things slightly they don't remove excess skin and the result doesn't last. Considering they cost a few thousand, you might as well save up for an actual face lift.

Farmageddon · 18/11/2023 16:32

Here you go - found the thread for you:

Shaz1610 · 18/11/2023 21:59

That's quite a compliment as I certainly haven't had a face-lift, never would! Nothing of the sort!

I was responding to BlueGrey1 who asked the OP about her experience. DameDoom has discussed having a facelift in another thread, which I linked to.
