nose hair on women

I have noticed over the last few months my nose hair is looking more prominent, shall we say Hmm so today when doing my eyebrows I also plucked some nose hair. Surprisingly painless except the odd one which stung a bit. I didn't go overboard with it but it looks noticeably better...and I swear I look 5 years younger!

Why do we not talk about this? I'm only just about to be 35, I was expecting at least another decade before I had to do any of this shizzle. Please tell me I'm not alone? please! just lie if you're feeling kind

I am convinced I look younger and can breath better. I've had a lot of colds recently and just had a google, as I thought nose hair was supposed to protect you from some germs...triangle of death, anyone? GrinShock apparently by plucking my nose hair I may have left openings for bacteria to get into a vein near my brain or.something like that?
So now I'm worried i have doomed myself to a few months of catching every bug going, open sores in my nose and a brain infection. Splendid. But it looks nice Smile

Do you trim yours? Wax it? Pluck it?

It's hormonal.

Most women start to develop excessive nose hair once they reach their mid thirties.
I would advice over plucking, because, just like eyebrows - if you do it too many times, by the time you are in your 40's there will be NO nosehair. At all.

Nose hair is there for a reason. It's to trap dirt and dust. So don't get rid of it all.

jenenberry · 20/07/2015 18:19

advise against

VulcanWoman · 20/07/2015 18:20

Dexter, I think the reason is, most of the time we breath with our mouth closed, especially if we were in a dusty environment.

dexter73 · 20/07/2015 18:26

I seem to breathe through my mouth more. Maybe I am an anomaly! I'm not sure about dusty environments as I'm not often in them.

VulcanWoman · 20/07/2015 18:28

Jenenberry, I had heard of over plucking eyebrows can cause them to virtually disappear but unfortunately not in my case, I pluck but there is no sign of them thinning out, I was hoping they would really more manageable but alas no.

Grin @ feet up the nose!

WaggleBee · 20/07/2015 22:49

Do people pluck/wax/veet/feet all the hair out? That doesn't feel right to me. I've been having a tidy around the visible bits.

littledafty · 20/07/2015 23:01

Oh jeez, hadn't even thought about nose hair. Have enough on my hands trying to keep track of the black hairs that seem to grow overnight and sprout on my neck and chin. Particularly noticeable when looking in the rear view mirror of the carConfused
Now going to add tilting my head back to check nostrils to my daily regime

PacificDogwood · 20/07/2015 23:05

I am 49.
I have no nose hair.

Confused
PacificDogwood · 20/07/2015 23:06

At least I don't need to try and get feet up my nose Grin

MimsyBorogroves · 20/07/2015 23:07

WAX?! NOSTRILS?!

Fucking hell. It's a bother to shave my legs and tidy up my eyebrows once a week or so.

Plucking mine out normally triggers a crop of coldsores. I prefer to pretend they're not there. Far less unsightly than scabs inside the edges of my nostrils.

beavington · 20/07/2015 23:35

Fucking hell i waxed my chin before coming to bed and ended up doing my pits too so as not to waste the strip. I wouldve had a go on my nostrils if id read this first!

I trim but i forget to keep on top of it.

Proper sniggering here at whatever pp said about their dp pointing out the hairs falling out her nostrils post trim! It takes a good bit of blowing and dusting down after a good trim

I agree that plucking is excutiating

namechangeforphotos · 20/07/2015 23:43

Camel I felt giddy with delight too after I'd plucked, until I read those horrible things on google! Grin

Geez, my eyes are watering just reading about this. Ouch-oh-mama.

MsRinky · 24/07/2015 18:01

I was horribly bullied as a young teenager about my visible nostril hair. Combination of very pale skin, dark hair, shape of nose/nostrils and general hairiness (thanks, PCOS!) I have tried trimmers, tweezing and veet, but never got great results from anything.

Then I read this thread and furtively ordered a nose-wax kit (I'd never heard of it either) and I've done it this afternoon.

HOLY FUCK did it hurt for 30 seconds or so. But I can't believe how amazing it looks. Seriously, I have been grinning into a magnifying mirror for the last two hours. This is going to change my life, so THANK YOU.

RonaldosAbs · 25/07/2015 17:29

I have this nose waxing kit, it's brilliant! A bit messy and obviously not the most painless thing but very effective!

MyAmusedPearlSquid · 23/12/2025 23:31

I've never actually touched my nose hair I'm 38 but now I might after this 😳

You must have had some interest to unearth a 10 year old thread about it.

My, aren't you just a ray of sunshine.

Ragamuffin8 · 25/12/2025 11:42

Waxing nose hair??? Now that explains why actresses never have any nose hair on HD TV! I’ve always suspected this even though no one talks about it.

For those of you that wax, doesn’t it hurt a lot? How often do you do it?
