nose hair on women

I have noticed over the last few months my nose hair is looking more prominent, shall we say Hmm so today when doing my eyebrows I also plucked some nose hair. Surprisingly painless except the odd one which stung a bit. I didn't go overboard with it but it looks noticeably better...and I swear I look 5 years younger!

Why do we not talk about this? I'm only just about to be 35, I was expecting at least another decade before I had to do any of this shizzle. Please tell me I'm not alone? please! just lie if you're feeling kind

I am convinced I look younger and can breath better. I've had a lot of colds recently and just had a google, as I thought nose hair was supposed to protect you from some germs...triangle of death, anyone? GrinShock apparently by plucking my nose hair I may have left openings for bacteria to get into a vein near my brain or.something like that?
So now I'm worried i have doomed myself to a few months of catching every bug going, open sores in my nose and a brain infection. Splendid. But it looks nice Smile

Do you trim yours? Wax it? Pluck it?

I just shove some veet up there while doing my moustache

UseHerName · 19/07/2015 15:49

Omg just turned thirty and this is also happening to me along with bloody age patches caused by the sun!!!

UseHerName · 19/07/2015 15:50

Veet?! Up the nose?!?? Aggghhh

VulcanWoman · 19/07/2015 15:57

Well, you learn something new every day! Never knew about waxing nose hair. I have a nose hair trimmer, I've found as I've got older the hair on my legs is less, it's all going to my chin, lip and nose.

Chocolou · 19/07/2015 18:24

Please remember everyone before you start whipping hair from your nose that it's there for a reason.
By all means take preferably just snip the long ones out that hang out and look unsightly

You lot are fucking mad!!

Itsalldramarama · 19/07/2015 18:28

Veet up the nose with a cotton bud !! It's amazing how much comes out ;)

namechangeforphotos · 19/07/2015 18:49

Waxing I can understand (and yes you can buy a kit for it) I even read a blogger who did it, with pics Shock but veet!??? I couldn't stick that up my nose, ugh just the though of accidentally snorting it is making me gag Confused I'd likely forget it was up there and do a big sniff, ewwww!

Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. No one talks about this in real life! I think I will trim next time it looks necessary, and perhaps save the plucking for very special occasions

I am going to do feet up the nose in a little while.

Crutchlow35 · 19/07/2015 19:43

Bugger. veet.

GatoradeMeBitch · 19/07/2015 19:45
Grin
Crutchlow35 · 19/07/2015 20:08

Frigin hell. Never knew there was so much hair up there.

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 19/07/2015 20:18

Isn't it there to catch the dirt that you would otherwise breathe in.

RoobyTuesday · 19/07/2015 20:34

I've had a pluck in the past but it makes my eyes water and my nose run uncontrollably! I just trim the obvious ones with nail scissors now.

WanderingTrolley1 · 19/07/2015 20:40

Isn't nose hair there to trap the nasties so you don't ingest them?

Dansak · 19/07/2015 20:41

I use a trimmer, purchased hastily after two small children on two separate occasions told me I had the hairiest nostrils they had ever seen on a woman Blush.

The shame. I have no idea why they are so hairy, the rest of my body hair is quite sparse.

Fadingmemory · 19/07/2015 20:47

Every day I take a magnifying mirror and pluck my nose hairs as well as those around my mouth and on my chin. The joys of growing older!

traviata · 19/07/2015 20:54

I once tried snipping with a pair of scissors.

My (then) DP leant across the restaurant table later and whispered that I had lots of little bits of hair falling out of my nose, and perhaps I should get to a mirror.

Since then I pluck when required.

namechangeforphotos · 19/07/2015 21:45

Well as I said, my nasal hair is doing a pretty crap job of keeping viruses out of me, I've had nothing but cold after cold this year! Perhaps it will get worse now, but tbh it was getting to the point where I'd only have 3-4 days between the end of one cold and catching another, so how much worse could it be!?

I live in a fairly low pollution area, pollen is more likely to get up my nose than pollution I should think but I don't seem to be pollen sensitive. Although, I have sneezed 3 times today for no apparent reason, since I plucked the hairs yesterday Confused

I cannot stop looking at other peoples nostrils now! The DC have no visible nose hair, DH on the other hand...

Veet?! Shock Hell no!

I have been known to have the odd pluck when I remember. I'm mid 30's too OP.

That said, I did it the other day and now having a huge cold. Possibly a coincidence, possibly my nose getting revenge.

Twinkie1 · 20/07/2015 05:48

I wax mine. Tiny bit of wax on end of cotton bud, wait to dry and yank it out. V satisfying but not as satisfying as doing DHs nose and ears.

UterusUterusGhali · 20/07/2015 17:25

I wax.
There is a LOT of hair. Particularly along the bottom opening of the nostril iyswim.
I agree it makes me look younger instantly.

It's not hard; roll a bit of wax strip into a cone and kinda put it up there. Less painful than waxing your legs IMO.

dexter73 · 20/07/2015 18:11

If you have nose hair to catch dirt/nasties from the air why don't you have hair in your throat to do the same when you breath through your mouth?

dexter73 · 20/07/2015 18:12
