Can you get hair dye that only lasts a week or two and can go over dyed blonde?

I have dyed blonde hair and am due to go on leave for just under two weeks. I have always wanted bright red or blue or purple hair but my work have been less than enthusiastic about it. Apparently it doesn't look professional! (I'm an HCP so they might have a point...)

However, I am wondering whether there is anything I can use for the time I am away (13 days off in a row) which I can get completely gone and back to normal by the time I get back.

The holiday will be a UK seaside one, so it would need to be more than a wash-in, wash-out one otherwise it we will be gone on the first day!

Does anyone have any ideas? I thought about the XXL semi-permanent ones but met someone who uses it and she said you need to bleach it back out again after it fades, which takes about 3 weeks. I can't really afford to do anything that requires a salon, it needs to be a home kit ideally.

So Snow - how long would you say a blue or purple would last if I mixed it with conditioner?

I usually wash it every other day, but likely to only be washing about twice for the holiday week as there won't be a shower. I could wash it a couple of times a day in the 2 days I am back home and before I go back to work if needed though!

Have you tried the blues? I am rather partial to the Atlantic blue in particular. Possibly doing a 4 or 5 large streaks rather than the whole head, at least until I know how it takes on my hair.

And, most importantly really, when it does wash out is it completely gone? Leaving your hair exactly as it was before you started? Or do you need to re-dye it the blonde again?

I found that blue lasted the longest time on my hair, I used to use a directions purple (can't remember the name) but it was blue toned so faded to blue and then a minty green.

Pastel pink faded pretty quick, sometimes I use directions lavender which is a lovely purple colour which then fades into pink then washes out.

On mine once it has faded it goes back to my normal colour but I have heard about it properly staining others hair.

I have a peroxide pixie and have used Bleach London to dye it pastel pink and lilac (not together). It lasted about 4 days, with being washed every other day. I found my hair held on to the purple tone more, and cancelled out the brassiness similar to a silver shampoo.

If I have pastel blue hair, I only wash it every 4-5 days, so it lasts about 4 weeks.

So about 6 or 7 hair washes.

It doesn't leave a residue on my hair, but my hairdresser said my hair was very dye resistant. I've just had it rebleached, with turns it a light yellow. She then did it lilac, but it just cancelled out the yellow and left no trace of lilac at all.

Thanks snow, that's really useful. My hair is very porous so it might be harder to get out, hmm....

Perhaps I could put a few blocks of colour at the ends to start with, kind of like a dip dye, and then twist it up into a bun for work?

Dd uses the bleach colours (available from boots)

You can mix them with any white conditioner if the colour is too bright -they wash out in around 6-8 washes which if you are a grungy teen means they last months so should be gone in a fortnight, if not then using a purple shampoo should restore your blonde

bleach london from boots, should wash out in about a week

I use directions, washes out pretty easily with head and shoulder or washing up liquid

I redid mine this morning, cerise and lilac mixed with white conditioner to make it pastel. I have bleached hair.

Can you get hair dye that only lasts a week or two and can go over dyed blonde?
