How many pairs of footwear (shoes, boots etc) do you have?

I'm working on building up a decent footwear collection of my own, with no cheap crapppy stuff, just lots of supportive comfy pairs that make me feel good. I cant' handle loads of clutter so am going to try to keep it to under 30 pairs. That's everything - boots, smart shoes, trainers, sandals, the whole lot.

So just out of nosiness, how many pairs do you have and how/where do you store them?

I dread to think 30 but probably more.

They include Uggs, nude courts and sandals, tan espadrille wedges, glitter gold/silver espadrille wedges, green glitter sheen ballet shoes.

I do need to get rid of a few and then get comfy sandals as half are too tight.

The worrying thing was when recently the SA in a dept store where I used to work called me a "good customer" luckily I've moved further away from there now!

Probably under a hundred but only just - cant be bothered to count
I swap them round seasonally - so at the moment all the boots and brogues are in a drawer under the bed
I have shoe racks in the bottom of my wardrobes - frequent use one is currently sandals and pumps mainly with some mid height heels
I keep all the occasional wear shoes mainly high, in a separate wardrobe with clothes that again I don't wear as often

So so so so many. I brought 5 pairs last month. About to have a clear out though. I have shoes I haven't worn for 10 years!

Seaswimmers1 · 27/07/2026 20:07

Can you actually have too many pairs of shoes? I don't think you can. Just counted mine and am at 31. Now have arthritis in my toes so recently had to get rid of all my lovely heels as just too painful to wear anymore. So am noe in process of repleneshing with comfy wedge fitflops as still need the height!!!

MurphysColeslaw · 27/07/2026 21:06

Oh Dear Lord, I must have 15 pairs of black boots alone!
I think I may need help.

My goodness, the people with hardly any shoes! What do you do for different activities and matching to your outfit??

I have 1 X hiking wellies
1 X waterproof walking boots
2 X waterproof walking shoes (you need to alternate if hiking every day)
1 X water shoes
1 X crocs for on campsites
3 X birkenstocks
1 X other flat sandals
1 X slippers
2 X hokas (for out walking in urban environments)
1x trainers for weight classes (completely different soles)
8 X closed toe dressy heels - variety of colours to match outfits
3 X open toe heels/wedges
3 X flat closed toe shoes for when I can't be bothered to wear heels to work (Birkenstock and Clarks)
4 X DMs mix of shoes and boots
2 X knee high boots

I'm not sure if I have significantly more shoes/boots than most people, with the exception of my activity related footwear. I am outdoors a lot, do a lot of walking holidays, so genuinely need all the outdoor activity footwear. I find I need to rotate which ones I wear, especially if it's hot or wet. I need arch support so another reason to rotate footwear on different days.

I have a very large shoe rack. Activity shoes tend to stay on the hallway rack

Oh, a million.

Can't be arsed to count - must be well over 100.

That's why I'm not going to count mine - I'm worried my answer would be similar - or worse!

And then there's my cookery book collection, which is a truly scary number ...

My reserves are at an all time low:

1 pair black ankle boots (old)
1 pair black knee boots (Not so old and not much worn)
1 pair Gabor courts - Navy (knackered)
1 pair Gabor ballerinas - black suede
1 pair Peter Kaiser black suede high heeled shoes
1 pair Clarks Birkie look alike mules (brown)
1 pair Ecco smart black sandals
1 pair Josef Siebel comfy sandals
1 pair walking trainers
1 pair white flip flops
3 pairs of slippers
1 pair white satin court shoes that I wore for my wedding 25 years ago which I have just put in the charity bag. I always meant to have them dyed and never got round to it. They are too tight now Sad

It's quite lean isn't it? And yes I do have trouble with my feet.

Ha, this made me laugh. The thread is 11 years old and I had forgotten how long ago I had that user name.

Just as a comparison:

black suede knee boots
ankle boots
mary janes
black loafers
black ballerinas
Flat cream sling back pointy Tbars
Burgundy Vara bows
Peter Kaiser Suede high heels (evening smarts and still going!)
Navy loafers
Gabor chunky sandals
Penny Chilvers Shepherdess sandals
Tan slides
Clark's grey Birkie knockoffs
Deck shoes
3 pairs slippers

Between 200 and 250. It’s my ‘thing’.

TheOGCCL · 28/07/2026 08:22

I don’t like clutter or things that aren’t earning their keep either.

I’ve got:

Three pairs of winter trainers
Two pairs of summer trainers
Four pairs of sandals (one is so worn to be almost unwearable)
Two pairs of court shoes (might get rid of one as not comfortable and both are gold)
One pair of ballerina flats
Six pairs of ankle boots, three tan, one navy, two burgundy.
One very old pair of knee length boots

I also have some sliders for swimming and a few pairs of flip flops. I don’t wear them out and about.
