Are there any bra gurus about? I need some help.

I posted this on a bra thread in chat but no one answered so I thought I would see if there was anyone else who could help me. Or perhaps my tits are so bizarre they are beyond help!

I am 37 under and 41 around nipple leaning over. This should make me a 36d, which is what I wear. But none actually fit me. They are all baggy in the cup and cut across into the top of my boob. My boobs don't touch the inside of the bra at all and the wire is about an inch below the bottom of my boob.

I am broad shouldered, my boobs have a wide shallow shape from birds eye view and are conical from the sides. I have done a diagram.

Please, if anyone has any suggestions (other than surgery) I would really appreciate it.

Cheers.

The band size is fine. 36d fits me just right round the back. It's the cups that don't fit.

I'm thinking of ordering this style.

If the band fits you then stick with it - it's either the cup size or the style that you need to change (or both).

MrsKoala · 01/07/2015 19:12

I may take some pics when I try some on and show them to you to see if you think they are okay, if you all don't mind?

You can use JL vouchers online btw.

SkodaLabia · 01/07/2015 19:20

Definitely order vast quantities online, trying stuff on at home is much more calming, plus you can try a variety of your own clothes on top to see the fit.

I have the opposite problem, in that my boobs are far apart and point outwards like dowsing rods, so I'm afraid I can't suggest any styles, but I sympathise!

SkodaLabia · 01/07/2015 19:23

Would something like this work? I'm thinking it might lift some of the volume up, without there being a cup top edge to cut in.

Ladyface · 01/07/2015 19:27

What hook are you wearing the 36 band on? Where is the wire sitting on the d cup? Is it digging into the breast tissue at the side?

MrsKoala · 01/07/2015 19:42

I wear the hook on the last hooks when they are new (the pink one still) and the smallest on the nude one as I have stretched it I think. The wire doesn't dig in the under arm (it used to terribly when I wore a 40a/38b) but they do sometimes in between the boobs on some bras ( like the pink one but not the nude one).

I am the opposite to you fuller at the bottom, but I have horrendous trouble with tshirt and similar seam free bras the shape provides no shape or support. I would look for balcony or plunge styles or possibly something which already has uplift at the base ( paddling or fillet inserts)?

hopelesslydevotedtoGu · 01/07/2015 20:34

www.bratabase.com/help/shapes/

This site is about different breast shapes. Are you a full on top?

If so they recommend these bras:

hopelesslydevotedtoGu · 01/07/2015 20:36

When I googled 'full on top breasts' quite a few bra guides came up, if that is your shape see if you can find a good website if the one I linked to isn't helpful.

MrsKoala · 01/07/2015 20:48

Thanks, I think by looking at that guide that I am more a combination of wide root, broad shoulders, pointy and close together. I also have one boob a size bigger than the other, which I know I have to pad out.

I think you need a bra with a fairly low centre front, and a relatively "open" or stretchy top to the cup. I think that R+P is massively over-rated actually. I was fitted there years ago and they sent me home with a 32 bra which was so loose I had to tie it in a knot at the back! (I measured 25 around the ribs, this ws pre- 28 and 30 bras). Then much later when I was pregnant they managed to find only one bra in the whole shop that came close to fitting, and were really almost rude about the fact that they didn't really have anything that was right. I have had problems with bras but since statisticallychallenged got me into Ewa Michalak I haven't worn anything else. I am going to try and find some styles that might work for you op.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/07/2015 20:58

www.ewa-michalak.pl/product-eng-665-Biustonosz-CH-CHP-Elegance.html I think this style might work for you, as it isn't snug at the top edge, and it is low cut.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/07/2015 20:59

Mrs K the bra above has removeable pads to correct asymetry too.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/07/2015 21:00

I also think the "S" styles would work for you.

MrsKoala · 01/07/2015 21:17

Thank you, I may order some of them. What is the returns policy like?

OP posts:
SirVixofVixHall · 01/07/2015 22:36

Well I have only exchanged one bra, it was all pretty straightforward, but it does take time to get the exchange. I have lots of bras from there now, as nothing else fits me quite as well, or gives such a good shape. The SM style is reasonably open near the top edge, but it is not padded so doesn't have the pads for asymetry. Its a really pretty shape though and the main one I wear. Double check your measurements before you order, as being Poland, it is more of a faff to return stuff as things take that bit longer.

MrsKoala · 01/07/2015 22:40

I might try something closer to home then as I'm planning to order loads and only, hopefully, keep a few.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/07/2015 23:09

I would order one or two from EM to start with, to get the size/shape right, and then order more once you have established what works. I was buying bras by the truckload from Bravissimo, but nothing was quite right, so i ordered one initial bra from EM, and when I had tried it and loved it, I ordered more. I have about eight of them now. So maybe order the one EM, and order a few from Figleaves in different brands, and you might just find one brand/shape/size combo that works for you. My problem was wires digging in under my arms, straps too wide apart, and sometimes the cutting in at the cup edge that you are getting. I also find wires can dig in at the front. Now I have found a comfortable shape, I just order the same style when it comes out in different colours, as EM do a handful of basic shapes, and just change the colourway, trim details etc, which is very helpful.

Hiya Smile

Thanks for posting those photos, very helpful.
I'd give up with the nude bra, it's too tall in the cup to ever sit right.

The pink might be better if the wire was taken out- would that be a consideration?

I'd suggest trying a Freya Rapture, Eden, or Patsy half cup in a 36D and maybe a C- they are shorter, wider and shallower than most.

marriednotdead · 02/07/2015 23:34

A good place to start would be the Leia website as they are the retail outlet for several brands in the group, many of which have similar shaped styles.

MrsKoala · 03/07/2015 14:01

Thank married. I like this one do you know if it is padded at all? I also like this one but I don't think it's padded so probably not great for me.

I think this one may be best.
