Is there a solution to painful thigh rubbing/chafing?

I've not really posted on S&B before, but here goes.

I have finally admitted that I am now a size 18, can't deny it any longer, and for the first time this week in the hot weather I have found my inner thighs rubbing. The skin turned really red and was so painful.

I don't want to wear tights in this hot weather, especially not with maxi skirts/dresses. What is the alternative though? Please don't say something like liberal and frequent application of Vaseline Sad

Thank you for this thread. I've put on weight lately (now size 16) and wore a skirt today. I've come home and realised the tops of my thighs were stuck together, and I've got a bright red mark on my thighs. I'm a nurse and know it's non blanching erythema aka a grade 1 pressure sore. How depressing is that? I'm now off to by some bodyglide.

searching safety briefs on Amazon ,you get a good selection
www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_9?url=search-alias%3Dclothing&field-keywords=safety+briefs&sprefix=safety+br%2Cclothing%2C172

I wear the safety shorts from Amazon! I work with children so wear under a dress to hide my pants Smile they are fab but ONLY get the ones made of bamboo, all the others gave me sweaty bits causing thrush (for the first time in my life, not prone to it so can honesty say its them that caused it) Sad

Am I the only one having a Men Without Hats moment re the safety pants?

brickinit · 03/07/2015 21:08

The only time I ever got thigh chaffing was when I was pregnant and let myself get too overweight.
I've never had it when I've been the proper weight for my height.
Sorry.

You could wear trousers and avoid skirts and dresses until you've lost a bit of weight? That might help?
Sorry to not be more help.

It's dependant on thigh shape and pelvic shape, exactly the same as a thigh gap is. Not weight Confused

violetwellies · 03/07/2015 22:02

Safety pants? Safe from what exactly? Shock

AMcoffeeLover · 03/07/2015 22:03

Its about body build not weight. I'm size 6, 40-45kg and can get it on occasion. I'm very slight in build so not much space for gaps ect.
But I do think shorts under a dress is good for modestys sake, especially around other peoples children (im a nanny to a wealthy family so image is important)
Yes, larger people might be more prone to it but you can't automatically put it down to weight.

WaftingWillberry · 03/07/2015 22:04

Yes - a lot to do with whether you're an apple or pear, probably.

Apple shapes wouldn't understand

Dry shampoo works better than deodorant.

Hexadecimal1 · 03/07/2015 22:06

I get this! Will try the deodorant idea....

AMcoffeeLover · 03/07/2015 22:07

In my case safe from bending over a flashing the school playground/builders at the house/the children & parents/my own parents........
And the risk of a silly boy in the playground before school lifting your skirt up (yes, it has happened!)
Believe my £2.99 for a pair of shorts that means people never see your pants (or thong) is a good buy for me!

AMcoffeeLover · 03/07/2015 22:09

If using dry deodorant keep it away from your lady fuzz! Its not nice going around with dry/crispy fuzz....

TheoriginalLEM · 03/07/2015 22:09

halestone · 03/07/2015 22:15
