Oh Shysters, think I've bougt a fake Mulberry from ebay/ What do I do?

It hadsn't arrived yet, has been dispatched, but iI've just googled the number and it's on a blog as One To Watch.

Not to me personally but it's easily solved especially if the seller has worded it/described it as "genuine" eBay should help you. Does the seller accept returns? Hope you get it sorted.

Have you got an eBay link we can look at? Although if the serial number is common with fakes that's a worry.

I think you can start a "significantly not as described" case with eBay, if it definitely is fake.

Did you pay by PayPal? And did the description state tar it was a genuine bag?

Think I will wait till it;s arrived, and then contact seller, who does accpet returns, and then if there's a hiccup, do a Significantly as not described case?

I don't think the word "genuine" in the listing is particularly relevant. If it was listed as a Mulberry bag, then it's a given that it's referring to a genuine bag. As opposed to a bag "like a Mulberry".

I'm not that au fait with Anthony's, but the serial number is a dead giveaway. It's not just the number, but the typeface used. Mulberry serial numbers use a particular typeface, and that isn't it. Definite fake I'm afraid.

The serial number is listed on Ebay's own Fake Mulberry page.

You should be able to get your money back through PayPal easily enough.

My hubby once idiotically bought some ray bans off ebay I told him they'd be fake but no one listens to me ha! Anyway when they arrived I took them to the 'sunglasses hut' shop who confirmed they were fake - I opened up a not as described case and did get a refund but think I had to pay to return them ( to Hungary ?!) and for original postage so we still lost out which I felt was unfair I did tried to take this further but got nowhere and got frustrated and gave up in the end as ebay seem not to mind about people selling counterfieght produce I tried to complain that the seller was still there selling ray bans but he was allowed to continue? Anyway the good news for you is that you will be able to get your money back!!

I unwittingly bought a fake item on Ebay a number of years ago (a Links of London Bracelet).

I seem to remember I reported it to Ebay in the first instance, then sent the item to Links of London who verified with an official letter it was a fake. Sent copy of letter to Ebay, received refund.

If you go onto the Discussion Boards of Ebay, they are of enormous help. Not Ebay employees, but people who buy and sell and are able to guide you. (In fact, they are of more help than Ebay and PayPal)

Get it authenticated on the purses forum. I think you are right, that it is a fake, and this will give you ammunition in your case.

I just sent a fake ergobaby back.via eBay. Go to the 'resolution centre' on your account and request a refund, you.can give 'its fake or counterfeit' as the reason. Seller then has a certain period to.reply before eBay intervene. In my case seller accepted a refund and eBay sent me a prepaid postage label. In transit now but they refund the cost and postage so you're not a penny out of pocket. Good luck!

I agree with seaoflove about the typeface of the serial number. I have 2 genuine bags from the Mulberry store and the font is different. My bags are very old though, so unless they have changed it.....

Excuse hijack OP but where would I find a serial number on a mulberry bag? I have one to sell, a really old one that's I don't know where to sell because I have no receipt and don't know where a serial number is. It's a short handled green and tan one from the 90’s, I can't even find a pic online!

You could try the asking the seller if you can return it first but don't be surprised if they insist the bag is genuine. I think with this one you will need to go down the resolution centre route but it's worth a try.

Also I should have said if you do report it via the resolution centre link the eBay fake mulberry page. I don't think you will have any problems getting it refunded through eBay. What I would say also is if the seller does agree to refund still report it to ebay (as recommended in the eBay fake mulberry page) She might try to re-list the bag again and another unfortunate person could end up buying it thinking it's genuine.

looking at the sellers feedback, they only have one negative, so I'd try asking for a straight forward refund, then if that gets you nowhere, open up a dispute.

It's against eBay's rules to sell fakes, whether you say they are fake/genuine or not.
