It's got bad, ladies. Really bad.

I have tried: Aveda Scalp Benefits, Philip Kinglsey, Nioxin, Kevin Murphy, T Gel, L'oreal for men, head and shoulders, Redkin, Kertase, I've used coconut oil and aloe Vera and probably a million others. Aveda, Nioxin and Philip Kinglsey worked for a few months, but now it's back...and man, is it angry.

I have just had a Brazilian blo dry done, so should be avoiding silicone/sulphates- though that was four weeks ago now, so probably ok.

What do I need to buy? I will try anything and spend anything. I have a newborn so also suffering hair loss, so my once glorious hair is making me very sad at the moment!

Please, please wise ladies of the beauty and style- solve my scalp woes!

My flaky scalp has returned with a vengeance so I have bought some anti dandruff shampoo from boots. It's their own make and it's in the medication/pharmacy bit rather than the shampoo isles. It's eight quid an it's kept to the nizorel. It has worke for me in the past.

TongueBiter · 09/07/2015 17:05

I succumbed and ordered the big bottle of scalp cream. Looking forward to being itch/scab free for the rest of summer!

Golfhotelromeofoxtrot · 09/07/2015 22:41

Fingers crossed tb!

This has been an extremely informative thread! It would seem I have dermatitis! I don't suppose the cheap shampoo I am using at the moment is helping matters...

I think I may also be trying MooGoo soon.

DoloresLandingham · 09/07/2015 22:45

Eucerin Dermocapillaire has genuinely changed my life. My scalp is totally clear for the first time in my adult life. I use the Calming Urea Shampoo and the Calming Urea Scalp Treatment and it is more effective than the Betnovate steroid lotion that I had on prescription for years.

Indecisivejo · 10/07/2015 08:38

I didn't order as p&p is £5 and I hate spending money on postage esp that much! Sad

Golfhotelromeofoxtrot · 10/07/2015 15:17

It is coming from Oz and I got a free cleansing bar! Which I love.

Mine's being posted from within the UK. I wasn't happy with the postage but am desperate. And ordered the big bottle to make it worthwhile Smile

Golfhotelromeofoxtrot · 10/07/2015 20:57

Then it better work, tb

TongueBiter · 10/07/2015 21:08

Haha - I'll be selling it on to you if it doesn't Wink

Tinkerisdead · 20/07/2015 22:51

Just to say I ordered the moogoo. Despite it saying start on damp hair i slathered th scalp cream on the second i opened it. Fingers crossed cos im seriously seriously pissed off with my scabby scalp now! Purlease lord let the moogoo work for meeeee.

FabulousFudge · 20/07/2015 23:20

I too think the moo goo shampoo is great. Having an itchy scalp sucks!

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 20/07/2015 23:28

Glad the Moogoo's doing its work! I actually ordered more shampoo the other week, and blow me if they didn't send a massive free bottle of the scalp cream! I phoned to see if it was a mistake, but was told they were having a promotion. _< amazed >

FabulousFudge · 21/07/2015 00:08

Which water softener would people recommend?

kavv0809 · 21/07/2015 00:19

Avagosling could you tell me what the link to thyroid is please? It might well explain a few things for me ....

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 21/07/2015 08:52

We got our softener from East Midlands Water Company. They were very helpful on the phone, and asvised on what size we needed for our household. You can get a rep out to do their routine to sell you something that costs ££££ and re-generates only when needed, but it's not necessarily as the basic models re-generate overnight when you're not using the water anyway. Lots of threads on Moneysaving expert about them.

flapmyfunnels · 21/07/2015 09:23

Glad it's working for you, OP :-)
The bottle does last ages so worth the p&p imho.
Handily for me, my little town's independent health food shop started stocking it, by complete coincidence. So if you like it, maybe try to persuade a local shop to stock it and you can avoid the p&p charges (though extra freebie goodies are a bonus through the post).

FabulousFudge · 21/07/2015 10:16

Thanks for the recommendation re water softeners. My local health store started selling it too and it's been flying off the shelves.

Dawndonnaagain · 21/07/2015 12:44

I agree, Moogoo scalp cream is heavenly, works fast too!

kittykarate · 22/07/2015 19:22

I'm currently loving the MooGoo Shampoo. My scalp is loads better.

TongueBiter · 24/07/2015 20:31

The MooGoo didn't really work miracles for me after all. Nor is the Aveeno oil/cream. I thought it was, but my scalp is suddenly fighting back. I'm sick of spending £££ every year on it Confused

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 25/07/2015 00:31

Tonguebiter, you could do worse than try the honey and coconut oil cure as detailed here. Last time I tried to post this it didn't work - hopefully second time lucky!

Scarydinosaurs · 03/08/2015 20:36

Sorry- OP here (name changed)

It's completely gone. I have like two plaques left now. It seemed to get really bad, and now it's fine!

So nice to have my scalp back! God bless Moogoo and thanks so much to flap and shotgun you did save my scalp!!!

I might need to get some moogoo too!

I've used so many things (Nizoral, betnovate, Tgel, head & shoulders etc). However SLS free (or very occasional use) and very few silicones makes a huge difference.

Sounds crazy but using the denman shampoo brush has made a big difference. I scrub my scalp as much as possible each wash and it just stops the flakes building up.

Doubtfuldaphne · 04/08/2015 07:16

I have this problem and I find jason shampoo and conditioner are good for soothing. It's about £6 for a big bottle. It's free of all nasties.
