How do you pronounce silage?

I'm on my continuing perfume quest but am facing one looming obstacle which will trip me up and cause me to fall flat on my face....

How do you say silage? Surely it's not like the stuff you get on a farm, is it?

For a farm, I'd say sI lidge

In perfumery, sillage means the cloud of perfume that trails you. Some perfumes are voluminous, they stay in the room after you have left. Some call them sillage-monsters. Try Poison or Portrait of a Lady. It's opposite is close-to-the-skin scent, I think.

It does not mean the drydown exactly (I get the basenotes at drydown)

No need to fear these terms btw, sniff and explore without fear. Lots of perfumes even don't have the traditional pyramid structure of top notes, middle notes and basenotes (so the beginning and end are pretty much the same, or the perfume is linear). And plenty of perfume salespeople know very little about perfumes - you are far ahead in the game if you know what I just explained. If you get a truly knowledgeful person, just ask a lot of questions, there are no stupid questions...

Sorry Frugal yes I meant its sort of cloudy lingeringness as you explained. I was being lazy and not explaining properly.

I haven't found anything I could call anything more than "moderate" yet, and even that is a stretch for some most of them. I can't find anything green/tea/bergamot/citrus that's really BIG.

You could try tommy girl....yes really! Its based on the smell of a Russian tea store apparently. I love it.
There is a roger and gallet citrus scent that is pretty big too.
Elizabeth Arden green tea packs a punch. All of the ones I've mentioned are worth a try as they dont cost much at all, around a tenner.

One of my Nose samples did the farmyard thing. Peony something, can't remember now but it was utterly vile, smelled like rotting muckheap but sweet as well. Decomposing melon.

I'm Irish. We pronounce our Rs. When you say See-yarze are you saying C.R.Zee or C. aaaa Zee? Surely neither is right.
