Not looking forward to another summer sweltering in jeans and boots.

I have ridiculous feet that won't stay in shoes :/

My instep and arches are stupidly high, so when I put shoes on them, I'm not actually wearing them; they just fall off when I walk.

So, I wear boots or low tops all year round. And I'm sick of them.

I don't even know what's about, as I mostly buy my stuff from eBay/ charity shops.

I've looked online and am seeing wedges, clogs, jelly sandals. Shoes made of string, raffia, sponge, jelly stuff and look, to me, like what my dad wore when she was in to the Spice Girls.

What the heck can I put on my stupid feet? I like heels and wedges, wood and leather, but they need to be pretty much tied/strapped to my feet/ankles. Oh, and they can't be too rigid, as they crush the bones on the top of my foot.

Oh and if that wasn't enough they're size 4 1/2 - 5, btw, and I'm 5'8. So, freakishly small, to boot Confused

Pleeeeease find me some footwear!

Just to clarify, my dad never dressed like a Spice Girl. However, my dsd did.

Have a look at Skechers. They have some really comfortable, lightweight, flexible shoes.

Skechers

WomanScorned · 11/05/2015 12:54

Ooh, thank you. I've already seen some I could likely wear.

Any suggestions for something a bit more glamorous? (for want of a better word!)

Something with an ankle strap perhaps? I have the same problem, today I'm wearing something like these

I think I'm being very dense as I don't understand whether you can wear sandals - lots of sandals have adjustable straps at the back and across the foot as well and I'd have thought they should keep them attached to the foot?

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 11/05/2015 13:05

There are lots of 2 part sandals in the shops at the moment OP. So they have a front bit and then straps around your heel/ankle.

Things along the lines of this Would that kind of thing work?

You could try Next, Clarks, M&S, Office, Dune? M&S and Clarks have half sizes too.

BadgersArse · 11/05/2015 13:07

flip flops?

BadgersArse · 11/05/2015 13:09

I dont quite get the OP

what is wrong with www.clarks.co.uk/p/26112051

IKnowRight · 11/05/2015 13:09

Do you need wide fitting shoes OP? Are you looking for heels or something comfy to walk in?

WomanScorned · 11/05/2015 13:13

Ankles straps do help, but only the ball and heel of my foot actually touch the shoe if it's anything but flat. I'm not sure how to describe it!

OP posts:
DuncanQuagmire · 11/05/2015 13:14

could you bear a pair of crocs?

TitsUpTime · 11/05/2015 13:16

Clarks and Ecco do loads of sensible sandals with proper straps.

Next, Evans, m&S do some slightly more dressy styles of sensible sandals.

I also have high arches and feet that wont keep on ballet flats, birkenstocks, flip flops etc, but there is hope...you just need to get out to the shops and try loads on!

BadgersArse · 11/05/2015 13:17

get an orthotic insole

WomanScorned · 11/05/2015 13:19

Vans, Converse etc are comfy enough, but I'm after something a bit nicer.

Just so that I can wear 'summer clothes'. And dress up a bit. It's been a while since my feet saw the light of day, so I actually feel quite self conscious about them. I like gladiator type sandals, but have they had their day?

OP posts:
IKnowRight · 11/05/2015 13:30

I like gladiators too but I'm struggling to find any that fit me atm.

How about something like this?

or these

WomanScorned · 11/05/2015 13:33

Here's a rubbish photo of my foot. The top of it just isn't in, when I try to wear 'normal' shoes!

Not looking forward to another summer sweltering in jeans and boots.

WomanScorned · 11/05/2015 13:36

I can fit a pencil under my foot and through the other side in a court shoe.

Thanx for the links - I'm just checking them out :)

I guess I need to go real life shopping. We have Clark's, New Look and Top Shop, here. Oh, and TK Macs.
I love boots and shoes, but just can't have most of the ones that I see and like.

OP posts:
DinosaursRoar · 11/05/2015 13:44

what about one of those laced pumps that are the fashion blogger favourites?

Something like this or this

DinosaursRoar · 11/05/2015 13:46

oh, you said you have a topshop near you - topshop's version

Donthate · 11/05/2015 13:48

What about a t bar? here?

Naoko · 11/05/2015 14:01

I can't help you on summer shoes because I have the same problem (sometimes manage to find something that's mostly made of straps and they stay on my feet) but you should definitely, absolutely get some orthotic insoles with good arch support for your winter boots.

I get mine on the NHS, they have to be ordered in specially because I have such freakishly high arches they don't keep them in stock. They also give me soft, flexible ones rather than the more standard rigid plastic ones because otherwise they bruise my feet. It's made such a difference. I'm less likely to trip and fall, walking doesn't hurt any more.
