Fine but lots of it so don't need volume, over-processed at the ends especially. Needs rescuing before it gets chopped off in desperation. Shu umura (spp) conditioner helps but I need something even more nourishing, either a regular conditioner or a treatment please. Not sure about using oil, hasn't been a success in the past but willing to try anything.

Another vote for Redken's all soft. I rotate it with kerastase, the pinky orange one - is it fluid idealiste or something? Redken's great but can be heavy if you have very fine hair like me. Saying that, all soft isn't too bad. Before smooth lock (I think) they had one called smooth down which was amaaaazing but much heavier. And that made my hair so unbelievably shiny. But discontinued now, and smooth lock is arse by comparison, alas.

Agree, and they've also discontinued their Fresh Curls leave in conditioner, which I loved, and replaced it with one that is not nearly as good. I have one tube left which I bought from eBay and don't know what I'll do once it's over!

I've tried Kerastase but I have a strong feeling it's exactly the same formulas as the Elvive range but at three times the price. They are both owned by Lorèal after all...

I have the same problem with my fine highlighted lots of it hair.

Strangely enough much better in soft water at parents holiday home in France rather than at home in my flat with hard water!

What also helps is leave in conditioner and drying it naturally. I don't like eg Naked range but use the garnier range and got honey range of theirs for first time yesterday. Also if on a budget nothing is wrong with Alberto balsam papaya and mandarin (?) as I think the conditioning is key. I did love tigi oatmeal and honey range though. Will try All Soft again but used it years ago and very moisturing and I agree with someone who said about the smell.

I'd also love to know, right now I use a leave in conditioner after washing too, mousse for root volume then smoothing fluid (aveda) and then Moroccan oil spray (Schwarzkopf) on top. Is this too much? And when I went into an aveda salon they tried to sell me an oil not Moroccan and told me Moroccan oil builds up so is that also a problem?!

I think most of those "oils" are much of a muchness as they're basically silicone serums. And despite the bad rap they've been getting lately, silicone is not damaging to your hair.
