Straw to silk! Can anyone please recommend a conditioner for damaged hair

Fine but lots of it so don't need volume, over-processed at the ends especially. Needs rescuing before it gets chopped off in desperation. Shu umura (spp) conditioner helps but I need something even more nourishing, either a regular conditioner or a treatment please. Not sure about using oil, hasn't been a success in the past but willing to try anything.

Thanks cerealqueen Smile

Coconut oil left on overnight is a miracle cure

KoalaDownUnder · 09/05/2015 03:42

Yes to Kerastase - the treatment in a tub, I think it's called Masquintense or something. Pricey but miraculous.

Last year due to over colouring, my hair, when washing was like a matted rug. I began using a shampoo for coloured hair (herbal essences I think) then Aussie 3minute miracle deep treatment after every wash, I still do & it saved my hair!

I bought some stuff in a white box called keratin diamond from tkmaxx - and my hair feels amazing. U spray it on after washing. Silky!

The serum that you get from the L'oreal Fibrology range is brilliant (you add a squirt of it to your conditioner, mix it in and then put it on for a few minutes). That always makes my hair feel heavier and swishier (it has a tendency to frizz like long fine candyfloss usually and the ends feel weightless most of the time).

WaltJunior · 03/07/2015 09:18

Kerastase Bain de Force which high street shops is this in does anyone know? I'm thinking this plus the l'oreal fibrology thing marma mentioned hoping to get these in the same shop somewhere today. bloody operation stack making it difficult to get around

Clairol sell their hair dye conditioning treatments separately and they are excellent. They come in a gold tube.

Candra · 03/07/2015 16:28

Look like these. I use gold for blonde hair. Use the one that matches your hair colour I guess.

Best by far is Loreal Absolut Repair shampoo, and conditioner.

And Kerastase Masquintense for a treatment.

I've found coconut oil overnight good as well.

WaltJunior · 03/07/2015 18:52

Where's the kerastase from twinkle?

StaphGlorious · 03/07/2015 18:55

This Bleach London has turned my straw like hair silky, I cannot recommend it enough!

Twinklestein · 03/07/2015 19:40

I get it all on eBay as it's cheaper.

WhereAreMyDragons · 04/07/2015 13:48

Random, but mane & tail shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair is fabulous. I get it off amazon, and I'm not entirely sure if it's for people or horses, but it's got silhouette pics of horses on the front Grin

I started the other very similar thread that's running and this was recommended I used it for the first time last night and it's amazing - my hair feels and looks silky smooth now! Really recommend Grin

Jemimapuddleduk · 04/07/2015 14:33

Coconut garnier one. Smells delicious too.

WhiteHairReally · 04/07/2015 15:26

Up thread Pumpkinette mentioned 'a protein treatment for a couple of pounds from Sally's'. I'm guessing this is a Palmer's Cocnut Oil Protein Treatment? Palmer's, as in the Cocoa Butter people. Can I recommend their Coconut Oil shampoo and Conditioner too? Got them and the protein pack in a largish Superdrug. No sulphate a or para end and I'm liking what it's doing to my frequently colour abused hair. That is until it doesn't seem to do the magic anymore and I have to start the Chop and Change Hair Products routine again.

WhiteHairReally · 04/07/2015 15:27

Parabens not para ends!

Sansarya · 04/07/2015 17:28

Tresemme Platinum Strength deep conditioner if you're on a budget, Redken All Soft Heavy Cream if you're not.

A couple of tips - use a towel to get rid of excess water before you condition, comb the conditioner through the hair, and the longer you leave it on, the softer your hair will be

WaltJunior · 04/07/2015 17:44

I used the tresemme deep condionter in the red tub last night. While it's very soft it's a total frizzball! It's not heavy enough. Horses for courses eh? This is going to be an expensive process I can see...!

OldFarticus · 04/07/2015 17:50

I get my Kerastase at lookfantastic.com as it's often on 25% off with free gifts and it usually arrives next day. I have started using them after moving to a place with desalinated water which gave me straw hair too and the difference is remarkable.
Those recommending coconut oil - what do I actually do with it? Slather it on (wet or dry?) hair and then shampoo off in the morning?

BlueMoonRoses · 04/07/2015 17:59

Philip Kingsley elasticiser 2x a week and coconut oil for 20 minutes before washing every day. I find the elvive oil shampoo and conditioner fab too. I have bleached hair and live in Middle East so would look like Worzel Gummidge otherwise (and sometimes do if I forget the treatments...)
