Best under-eye concealers. Is YSL Touche Eclat still considered number one?

Hi,

So I was using the YSL one for a few years, but it runs out quite quickly and whereas I could afford another one, I'm wondering if I'd just be buying it out of habit. Also, I'm a fan of Lisa Eldridge and tend to take her word as beauty gospel and I heard that she's really not a fan of Touche Eclat, which got me wondering.

So has anyone got any recommendations? I'm not on a strict budget, but I certainly wouldn't want to go higher than £25.

Oh, also, does anyone use a tiny amount of their foundation under their eyes as concealer? Hmm I've been doing this whilst I decide which concealer to buy and so far, it actually looks ok. I'm sure this is terrible in the long term, but it's better than having dark circles.

TIA

Grrr just noticed my nickname was spelt incorrectly. Sorted now.

notthestereotype · 30/04/2015 11:42

Anyone?

squoosh · 30/04/2015 11:47

Touche éclat is a highlighter rather than a concealer so if you need to cover dark circles this isn't the product for you.

I have tried lots of expensive concealers but always return to Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. It's cheap but amazing. Covers my dark circles better than anything else.

Wiggletastic · 30/04/2015 11:51

The Collection one is excellent for the price but for me the Clarins Instant Concealer is by far the best. Doesn't feel heavy or claggy but has good coverage for dark circles and doesn't settle into fine lines.

squoosh · 30/04/2015 11:56

Sadly Clarins doesn't go pale enough for me.

notthestereotype · 30/04/2015 11:57

squoosh, Collection? Really? I always assume the cheap ones are going to dry out your skin. Do you have any lines under your eyes? I think I'm just starting to get fine lines and if I wear the wrong kind, all it does is emphasise my lines and makes me look worse than I did before! What are the colours like? I'm pale btw. Thanks.

Is the Collection one better than the BD (tesco) one? I used to use that, but I can't really remember if it was any good. I just remember buying it because at the time, I couldn't afford Touche Eclat.

AgathaF · 30/04/2015 12:39

I used to use the BD one too. Such a shame you can't get it any more

dexter73 · 30/04/2015 13:00

I bought the Collection one after squoosh recommended it on another thread and it is really good.

Lottapianos · 30/04/2015 13:55

Have heard rave reviews about the Collection concealer too.

I get along very well with Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, think it costs about 6. It doesn't dry out my very dry skin, gives decent coverage and lasts well through the day

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/04/2015 14:34

If you want to cover blue then Lily Lolo peeps is amazing, use a tiny bit and don't be put off by the colour which is bright yellow!

Coastingit · 30/04/2015 14:41

I use the Collection one but I always put foundation under my eyes on top, aren't you meant to?

Kennington · 30/04/2015 20:22

Liz Earle highlighter pen is nice
Also like Clarins instant concealer for undereyes and reckon colourstay
All are moist and I use with an illuminator

StayGoldPonyBoy · 30/04/2015 20:24

Bobbi Brown correctors are my favourite for under the eye. The touché eclait is a highlighter.

The collection one is good but it slides right off my oily under eyes! Worth a try though, it's very affordable.

I use a Bobbi Brown Corrector and Laura Mercier Secret Camoflague. I have pretty impressive dark circles (sadly a family trait and if one more person tells me I 'look tired'...). Those two in combination work a treat.

woodhill · 30/04/2015 21:25

I'm never sure of the concealer purpose under eyes. my Avon one seems to emphasise shadows or are you meant to use lighter one to minimise shadows.

BadgersArse · 30/04/2015 21:55

i am like a born again christian about he clarins one in a tube

AMAZING

Rummikub · 30/04/2015 21:59

Collection one for me too. Works on my olive skin tone.

happybubblebrain · 30/04/2015 22:04

I've recently been using Revlon Photoready under my eyes. I put it under foundation and blend really well. I suddenly look really awake and much younger. It only costs £6, I'm a convert.

Follyfoot · 30/04/2015 22:37

Givenchy Mr Light for me. Love it.

Hillingdon · 30/04/2015 22:40

Clairns for me too. Put a bit of eye cream on before putting on. Or get tear troughs done - now that did make a difference!

Enjoyingtheattention · 30/04/2015 22:48

Hillingdon, can you enlighten me on what having your 'tear troughs done' means!

SinglePringle · 30/04/2015 22:53

The By Terry one is phenomenal. Great coverage, looks natural and big range of shades. About £30 a tube but lasts a very very long time.

LaVieBoheme · 30/04/2015 22:56

Jumping in to also give my backing to Bobbi Brown Corrector and Concealer. I have terrible dark circles and that, under my usual foundation makes them completely invisible.
