Does anyone know a good foundation for very dry skin?

I have been using Bourjois CC Cream which is really good but I need something with a bit more coverage. I have such dry skin that most foundations seem to leave dry patches in certain places on my face even after using moisturiser and/or primer - I am a bit of a perfectionist with foundation and hate looking like I've done a bad job, which is how it looks when this happens.

Does anyone have similar problem and know a good foundation?

I get horrible dry eczema patches on my cheeks and this is the only foundation I've been able to use that doesn't look a complete mess- www.maybelline.com/Products/Face-Makeup/Foundation/Dream-Wonder-Foundation.aspx (sorry I can't do a clicky link on my phone). I absolutely love it, it feels lovely and light on my skin Smile

ShesAStar · 16/04/2015 18:37

Thank you so much for the link - I will give it a try. Sorry about the eczema - I have horrible 'rosy' cheeks and need to cover up or else I look like I've been for a jog!

If you don't mind spending a bit more money Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Foundation is really good. You don't need to use much so it does last a long time - worth trying it first though to see if it gives you enough coverage.

ShesAStar · 16/04/2015 20:06

Thanks RaggyAnnie, I love Bobby Brown for eye makeup but have never used the foundations, I will give it a try.

Hi ShesAStar.
Revlon Colorstay is meant to be a good foundation, heard lots of great things about it. They do two different ones, one for combination/oily and one for normal/dry.

I've recently started using Clinique Redness Solutions make-up which is really good. I suffer with eczema like another person has said, so I do get dry bits on my cheeks and forehead occasionally, but mainly suffer with acne scars and uneven skin tone (redness). The foundation is great but is perhaps better suited for drier skin like yours, as I feel like I have to used a powder with it on myself.

Good luck!

I have dry skin. Colorstay is great but it accentuates dry patches even when you didn't know you had any. Eucerin 5% urea cream helps but you'd be better off looking into creamier formulas. I've tried a few BB creams recently and Dr Jart Premium was both decent coverage and creamy enough for my skin - worth a try if you see it somewhere.

MarniRose · 16/04/2015 22:11

Suqqu is my favourite. But is not cheap. Jouer moisture tint also good

Skinheadmermaid · 17/04/2015 00:31

I use body shop moisture foundation. It keeps my skin from drying out throughout the day. Its not as heavy coverage as I would like but I have particularly sensitive and dry skin and i'm just happy it doesn't break me out.

ShesAStar · 17/04/2015 09:44

Thanks so much for all of your advise, it's so good to hear reviews from non-biased sources!

RL20 I used the Clinique redness solutions range of skincare but I didn't find it made any difference to my skin - but I didn't know they did a foundation. I will get a sample and try, thank you. Thanks for the links.

Frugal I've never heard of that make but will google. Because of your name I'm hoping its a bargain!

marnie never heard of Sqqu but I'm a sucker for expensive makeup in nice packaging so will have a look.

Skinheadmermaid I love your username! I have a body shop in town so will ask for a sample, thanks.

Mischa Cho Bo Lang (No 1)

It really is amazing with fantastic coverage and dewyness. It's actually a BB cream but can be used alone or with foundation on top.

I use it on my nose as I can be a bit of a Rhudolf at times and even though I have an oily T-Zone, my nose gets dry on the bridge.

pinkfrocks · 17/04/2015 10:31

Clinique do one in a tube that is very moisturising- can't recall the name but is on website.

RL20 · 17/04/2015 11:03

ShesAStar I used Cliniques anti-blemish 3-step skincare thing and also find that it didn't make a difference really.
But I do recommend the redness solutions foundation.
Good luck!

ShesAStar · 17/04/2015 11:18

Hi Frostycake

I've just googled but I can only find it on American sites where the price is in dollars. Do you know where they stock it over here. Or where you buy it from if you use an American site?
Many thanks

Revlon whipped creme foundation, need to buy it on line as it's not available in the UK, no idea why as it's fabulous stuff!

FrugalFashionista · 17/04/2015 11:42

Dr Jart currently 1/2 price at Boots. It's slightly darker than my natural skintone, the darkness of palest foundations in most budget ranges, but great coverage and feels lovely on. If you are very pale, the red Dr Jart or Missha #13 are better alternatives, they are available on eBay.

I've liked Revlon Whipped Cream in the past too. Lovely but perhaps too heavy coverage for my current needs, would work really well in winter.

ShesAStar · 17/04/2015 15:02

Thanks Frugal, I am not neither pale nor dark - something in the middle!
I'll have a look at Dr Jart, thank you

This one OP- or the other one is the moisture surge CC cream.

ShesAStar · 17/04/2015 18:34

Pinkfrocks that sounds fantastic in the blurb - will deffinatley try, thank you

Is there another reason why you have such dry skin? Like a skin condition? If you changed your moisturiser you could get much more out of your foundation.

I have been through a lot of ranges before settling for one which has completely changed my skin for the better. There is no point in using a nice foundation until you sort out the base problem.

what do you use/have used?

nottheOP · 17/04/2015 21:06

Dior forever is good for me. Most show my dry patches but this one is good. Try to get a sample from boots before you splash out

nottheOP · 17/04/2015 21:06

I've also like Dr jart before

RaggyAnnie · 17/04/2015 21:32

Which moisturiser do you use LavazzaLover?

cookiefiend · 17/04/2015 21:39

I have dry patchy skin and it was a bit rosy on my wedding day. The make up lady put body shop hemp body butter on my face first- said she swears by it. I have quite sensitive skin- only usually ise aveeno on my face, but this seemed to work well.

LavazzaLover · 17/04/2015 22:53

I use Avon Reversalist 40 +. Have done for a year and my skin has never been better. I have eczema and ive not had a facial glare up/dry patch since.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 17/04/2015 23:03

Clarins extra comfort foundation is amazing. Great coverage, doesn't cling to my dryness. Bit pricey though.
