Good basic everyday facial sunscreen

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good everyday sunscreen? My skin is a pain and likes Astral moisturiser only. Good as it is cheap but not helpful as it does not include an spf. I used to use Dermalogica solar defence in the days pre children but that is too pricey now. Is there anything cheaper that people use? Thanks.

PS - I am rubbish with make up etc so apologies if a stupid question.

So my Hada Labo sunscreen finally arrived at the end of last week, and sofar, I am liking it a lot.
It certainly leaves no white cast on my skin, it goes on smoothly and feels comfortable. It is quite matte, and I wonder if it could be drying if worn with no moisturiser, or on someone with a very dry skin. But it's fine for me. It feels like it would be lovely as a makeup base, but I've it worn makeup over it yet.

Protection-wise seems fine so far, but I've not tested it that well as the hot sun has gone now! Hopefully soon I'll test it thoroughly. The best thing is that it doesn't feel like it's clogging my pores, and I don't feel like I want to wash it off my skin as soon as I get home, as I do with LRP and Dermalogica.

I also tried the Superdrug facial one and hated it. Very cloggy and greasy, but no white cast.

Paula Begoun a.k.a The Cosmetic Cop is fab, agree with Fabulassie.

You can search the efficacy of loads of products, I always have a quick check before buying something new.

I tried the cheapo Superdrug facial spf30 in Lanzarote last week and was impressed - it wasn't greasy, didn't irritate my sensitive skin and kept me sunburn-free. For less than £2!

FrugalFashionista · 30/04/2015 15:40

+1 Neutrogena Dry Touch. First sunscreen in ages that I like without any reservations.

DanGleebals · 30/04/2015 17:20

I have been using the superdrug spf 50 facial cream and it's great! No sunburn, no spots and really cheap. I was using soap and glory before that which was good but quite a lot more than the superdrug one.

There is so much choice ! Off to read whole thread!

NotNowBono · 30/04/2015 19:06

I admire the thoroughness of Beautypedia, and like reading the top recommendations, but there's something about the dismissive, bordering on gleefully bitchy, way she puts the boot into brands that aren't deemed good enough that kind of spoils it for me. Especially since, surprise surprise, the Paula's Choice products all score top marks; I use a few of the PC products and while some are great, like the BHA lotion, I've tried three of her dry skin moisturisers now, and none of them have been any better than average.

Am going to give the Hada Labo and Biore a try once my Ultrasun 30+ has run out!

Sallystyle · 30/04/2015 21:09

I just got sunsense. Love it.

I found Cityblock dried me out too much. Sunsense makes my skin look nice and it is cheap.

squoosh · 05/05/2015 10:24

My Hada Labo sunscreen has just arrived. Had forgotten I'd even ordered this!

Can't wait to give it a test run.

TheSpottedZebra · 05/05/2015 10:32

Gosh that's quite a bit later than mine, Squoosh . I'm still loving mine, easily the best one I've found so far. Protection is good, no sign of white cast or spot making, and it feels comfortable on my skin. And makeup goes on really well over the top. If you had super dry skin it's possibly a teensy bit drying, but I don't.

Ta for recco, Iatemyskinnyperson

Oh I see you got your ages ago Spotted. Cheek of them neglecting me!

Good review from you. I've tried some on my hand and the texture feels really nice. My skin can be quite dry though so I'll give it a proper test tomorrow morning.

elQuintoConyo · 05/05/2015 11:17

I am sooo adding this to 'threads to watch'. Can't find anything decent for my face Sad I live in abroad and am very pale - Italians point and laugh and call me mozarella Sad

squoosh · 05/05/2015 11:19

Awww I've been called mozzarella in Italy too. Let them laugh I say!

TeamEponine · 05/05/2015 11:21

I use simple 50spf face cream. Feels just like a light moisturiser, no white mask and never burned barely tanned using it.

CMOTDibbler · 05/05/2015 11:26

I'm really liking the Sunsense everyday 50+. It really is light enough to wear as moisturiser, but effective enough that I can go running in the sun for an hour and not be sore/red afterwards.

I do like the La Roche Posay as well, and use the tinted Helios when I'll be out all day

Yep, Neutrogena Dry Touch. LOVE. Inexpensive, totally non-greasy, inexpensive, no white cast...perfect.

KoalaDownUnder · 05/05/2015 11:55

Did I mention that it's inexpensive? Grin

nicecupofteaplease · 05/05/2015 17:13

Dr Jart is available at Boots and it's 50% off at the moment. Quick, run!
